UPDATE: V-Moda support was quick to reply and suggested that I use some WD40 to lubricate the joint. This solved the squeaking problem. :)

I don't know why people complain about removing the cable from the headphone to put it in the case because u have to do that with almost all headphones and it ain't Goin to kill u to detach it u remove the cable so u won't damage it in a case
luis rodriguez Removing the cable is not a huge nuisance, but it's an extra step that could be avoided with a slightly different design. There are plenty of cases where you don't need to remove the cable, and the cases sometimes even have pouches so you can tuck the cable away so that it doesn't dangle around and scratch the headphone.
***** The removable cable is a very good feature. If you damage/destroy your cable, you can simply buy another cable and replace it easily without soldering/splicing/etc.
Got them a while back and they don't make a creaking noise but u will prob feel better with it being loose because when it is to its standard clamping force it can become uncomfortable to wear during long periods and bass isn't really boomy
+luis rodriguez I dont buy headphones which do not allow me to remove the cables =.='
Dinh Long Le neither do i but i was wondering is it really that much of a hassle to remove a cable from a headphone when you put it away in its case.
Correction for the terminated jack: it's referred to as a 45˚ angled jack, even though it really is more than 90˚ when measured from the cable-end.
I had the M-80 and I consider it thin sounding compared to the Amperior or the HD25-1-II. I sold it and purchased another one to compare again, same thing. The isolation of the Sennheisers are much better and the leaking outside noise makes the M-80 even thinner and brighter in noisy environments. I kept my Amperiors and Adidas HD25 and sold the M-80s. Beyer DT1350 sounds even thinner... but the V-MODA construction is the best I ever seen, had the LP too.
Eagerly awaiting a review of Sony MDR 10R from you as soon as its available :-)
Hopefully with all he gear you have sold you can test the V-Moda M100. Also, a review of the LSTN Troubadours would be nice there's not a lot of info out there atm. LSTN basically gives a pair of hearing aids for every headphone sold and they're made out of wood. Would like to know how the different woods they have have what impact on the sound.
definitely agree with that! i think they can do without the noise cancelling, the batteries take up far too much space and it made the bass overwhelming ( makes them look bulky on the head). i only had a brief listen but sounded pretty good to me!
Thanks for your support :)
great review Laclan! but i think you might have missed the midrange in the sound quality review, how did you find the mid range? did it sound recessed compared to the thumping bass?
Great review Lachlan !!
i think your future review of the shure se215 would augment the contents of this video well! since you made a comparison in sound signature
awesome reviews! getting a pair of quality headphones for myself and ur channel helps a lot.
For my first pair under 200, what do u think are the best headphones to check out? I mainly listen to pop, edm, hip-hop/r&b, and acoustic music. I want them to be a little portable cause I'll be bringing them to school, but sound is definitely the main factor. Thanks in advance!
My first recommendation is to try and find the Sennheiser Amperior on clearance price below $200. Then my next recommendations would be the M80 or the ES700 - M80 if you prefer more bass.
Radioshack is blowing the M-80s for 40USD right now, in store only. Amazing deal.
Hi Lachlan,I really enjoy your hi-quality videos with all the information you give about the headphones you review!Do you have some personal experience with the ATH-WS55 Solid Bass? They seem to me lika a descent pair of headphones for the price.Tell me what you think about them.
I haven't heard the WS55 but I reviewed the WS55X czcams.com/video/gEK6Lp7ik5I/video.html They are great value!
Thanks man,I actually found the review of the ws55x 2 scrolls down after I posted the comment :-D
M80s are @ $80 on Amazon.com till midnight today. As a vModa m100 owner + XL cushions since CyberMonday this year, my edifying point being, is there really a $200.00 sound difference?! As a Beats previous owner, now vModa m100 owner, I think I'll end up being happy with the M80s since I am a casual 1-2 hours a week headphones user. If I would listened to them for hours each week, then vModa 100's would've been my #1 choice. Great build on the headphones and overall quality job vModa, I am a loyal fan from now on no matter what :)
How much did you buy the m100s for?
sebastientherocker bought those for $264.63 + 20 fo the XL cushions + $30 for Boompro accessories. Accidentally discovered as well that m80s are fantastic for running 5-10 mile days. Brother and father thought m100 are better as they cover your entire ear and the sound is richer/clearer, but m80s have more bass and for hip hop, rap, pop music m80s are better!
can you do a review of the vmoda m-100's
You should try out the M-100s by V-Moda, they are the DJ headphones of the year and in my opinion sound amazing in all genres
Are the m-100's considered portable?
MidKniteSon m-100's are actually very portable
Yes, someday. I prefer smaller earphones. I really don't see the M100 as portable, too big. I had the Crossfade LP, about the same size, beautiful, tough, but bad sounding like a Beats. I'm happy with the HD25-1-II and the ATH-ESW9 now, very good portable headphones.
battle of the on-ears... nice review, KEF M500 ?
great review. I'd like to see you review the m100's and compare them.
Add me to the list of people who would love to see an M-100 review. I'd especially like to hear how you think it stacks up to the Sennheiser Momentum (over ear).
I never knew that about RadioShack. But people who bought stated the units were new. Anyway, even if used, $40 is a good price even I don't like how these sound.
It's kinda weird, but I found M-80 not bassy at all. I mean they have a right amount of bass, just as much as it need to be for more «audiophile» sound. Moreover the midrange is absolutely gorgeous, it's very clean and ultra-natural.
Sorry for my english, I hope you can understand me ;D
I owned these as my portable for a little while, I thought they were fantastic headphones all round with exception for the awful comfort for me, which was a dealbreaker. I had to sell them because they were that bad for me, couldn't even get through an album without feeling really uncomfortable... By the way Lachlan, that creakiness is caused by dust. Unhinge the earcups from the gimbals with a correctly sized allen key and blow the dust out and you'll be as good as new!
I love my custom M-100's so much :3
By the way, what song is that in the background? I really like that style of ambient music, reminds me of Mass Effect.
i would've thought so too the looked at the frequency graph for them and it looked the mid range seem slightly emphasized, hear various reviewers say the same thing. did it sound dark to you ( assuming dark means bassy and mid centric) with rolled off highs
Hi there, great reviews!
What would be more comfortable to wear over longer periods of time the v moda m80 or Sennheiser momentum?
Thanks in advance!
Hmm interesting question! I think the Momentum Over-ear is more comfortable just because it is over-ear.
They're not dark to my taste, and higts... I think the're ok. Not the best in the class, but certainly very good. Also the frequency fraph show only sound signature, but it is not the most important thing in measurments. A square wave (meander) is much important, and shows more than freq graph.
Threre's a lot of details in terms of headphone «science» you know)
I recommend these m80 music rock metal? I look for ones with much much under and without distortion
I'm having a tough time selecting a headphone for myself! Bought The new Beats Studio 2 for my hub and they sound pretty good. I would like to get a headphone that sounds crisp, clear and has a good base sound. I also want them to be low profile, not to big and bulky. I listen to some hip hop, and a lot of R&B and jazz. I'd also like to stay between 150-200 bucks! Help any and everybody!!! Oh and with a mic for my Iphone!
vmoda m80 or xs
Anybody know where I'd be able to buy the 3-button cable? They don't sell it on the website anymore.
I've owned both the HD600 and the HE-400 at the same time. What do you specifically want to know?
Would you rather have these or the v moda xs
have you heard the hifiman he-400? do you how it sounds compared to the sennheiser 600/650?
I'm pretty sure they meant on ear momentum
Do you recomend the v moda crossfade lp or the beats solo 2
Could you please look at the Razer Adaro Stereos? Thanks!
What is that song in the background?
How do the audio technica m50x sound against these
might be getting a pair of these im huge on rap and edm music with bass so hope these will be okay
If you want bass get the skullcandy crushers
HI_74eeon that's not ture, try them and was very disappointed.
I own them
Does it have good bass, but clean highs too? I'm not a fan of too much bass or too much extended highs. Is this a pair of headphones that has that good bass but good highs?
I would not describe the highs on these headphones as particularly clean. I would perhaps consider something like the Audio Technica ATH-ES700 or KEF M500 for something a bit more neutral (without being too forward with treble!)
how are these compare to crossfade lp? and m50?
Can you do a review for Marshall Mode earphone?
You should try out the M-100 then ... much better
They dont charge?
personally i hate this hexagon shape earcup, but watched it anyway to cos i'm a fan
these or the cross-fade lp
I can't figure your accent, is it Australian or English? )
what did you customize about it? :)
Ohhhhh, and I want it to be portable!!!!
can you make a review of Crossfade M-100 =)
how can it connect to pc?
Sorry I meant the sennheiser momentum on ear!!!
Oh I see. Well, in that case I think the On-Ear Momentum is more comfortable because less material touches your ears and so it's a bit more breathable. But it could be a bit of a tossup between the two...
Not entirely true... RadioShack is known to sell Returns and Demo models as "new"... Other then me going to RadioShack to buy a Micro USB cable to charge my phone because I was out of state for a few days and needed a cable I haven't been to RadioShack for like 18 years because they just suck
I can't stand this new commenting system. It is shitty, but good review
xs or m80
how is comfort for prolonged period of time??
Not the best, my ears hurt after an hour of use, its a great overall package thought.
+lachlanlikesathing These, XS, or Sennheiser Momentum on ear?
what u pick
I'm pretty sure XS is the best one
+Wulfzz yeah but the clamping force is TOO LESS
The bass is too soft, too little impact and not enough volume or depth for it to be a basshead headphone. It's rather balanced with a muted treble. The headphone sound a lot better with EQ to the treble region to bring on better clarity and detail.
i can't find V-moda headphones in my city(((
Buy them online Ebay perhaps?
Wyatt O'Shea i will go to the Moscow in june, i buy it there) but thatk you for advice
Np
V-Moda M-80 or Momentum On Ear?
I liked the M80 more...
Please review v moda m100.
I thought the M-80 was wireless.
audio technica ckx9iS please!
V-Moda M80 or Beats Mixr?
I definitely prefer the M80, but I think the Amperior trumps both.
Review v moda m100?
they look minuscule.
m100 maby? :D
Nope. New, sold out already.
Leave those headphones on to cover up that terrible haircut.
still better than your bald profile pic
Chase C.
That was a bad lie I have hair and i dot have a profile pick
+Whatever That's the joke dumbass.
m100 pls :D
Nope. New, sold out already.
