Power BI WATERFALL CHART Pt2 - How to EXPLAIN the records that make up the NET change in a category

  • In this video, number 2 in the mini-course on Power BI WATERFALL CHARTS, I'll talk you through how you can explain and display records which have contributed to the NET CHANGE in a category value between the start and end periods displayed in the waterfall chart.
    With a waterfall chart, a question that is often asked is:
    ❓"If the number of records increased by X over the week, show me what those X records are?"
    This can seem like a sensible question at first until you realise it can't actually be answered! I'll explain why it can't be answered and also show you how to answer the question that is really being asked!
    Again we will use a waterfall chart that displays the change in maintenance work orders in the backlog by each department over a week.
