- Weather FAA Part 107 UAS Exam (wind, fronts, Atmospheric Stability): Mr. Mig discusses the weather portion of the Drone Exam. In part 1, Mr. Mig goes over wind, fronts, and Atmospheric Stability. When doing the practice questions pause the video and try on your own before Mr. Mig reveals the answer.
Weather part 2: • FAA Part 107 Drone Exa...
I’ve been flying conventional aircraft for a long, long time. You explain the treachery and trickery of FAA exam questions better than anyone I’ve yet found. Every pilot, regardless of rating(s), will benefit from reviewing your weather videos. It’s the first thing we learn, the first thing we forget and absolutely the first thing we struggle to remember when we get “caught” in it.
I know that you posted this video 2 years ago but I appreciate that your videos are still helpful on Monday, August 12, 2024 as I study and prepare to take a FAA part 107 exam in a few weeks. You may just be a high school teacher but this 65 year old man is still learning from your willingness to share and teach your knowledge. Thank you
Just took my part 107 exam and passed with a 92. I watched all of your videos several times. Mr. Mig i have to give you a lot of credit for my passing score!
Congrats
"Just a high school teacher"! This is great content, man. You're doing us all a great service. I take my 107 next week and am learning so much from your videos. Good graphics, explanations, question formats. Every 107 candidate should subscribe to your lessons. Thanks!
Thanks Sam!
Don't change a thing! Your not just a high school teacher like the comment below says. You're an amazing teacher! Thank you for all this.
Mr. Mig - Love your format and content! I am going to take my Part 107 test shotly and really am learning alot from your videos. Please don't say you are "just a high-school teacher" ! I am in my late 50's and I can tell you that some of the most impactful people in my entire life were engaged, enthusiastic teachers from middle and High School. You are making a permanent postive impression and you should be proud of that! You are Awesome! keep it up!
Thank you! That means a lot!
Mr. Meg. I am preparing for the Drone Exam and I'm watching all of your videos because your explanations and examples are so helpful. Please stop saying you are "just a high school teacher." You are preparing a generation to make an impact on our world, and I appreciate you for doing that. I am 70+ years old, preparing to get my Drone Certification to help my son, daughter and grandchildren with a future business. I believe if you are invested in a business, you should know the business, including having the needed licenses. Mr. Meg, you are helping me accomplish this task. Thank you so much!!
I agree I’m in my 70’s also. Although now your a student too in Law school. Good luck with your studies
Mr. Mig you are a national hero. I passed with an 88% after watching through your part 107 playlist twice. The only items on the test I did not get from your videos was frequencies, risk management (ADM, CRM), and radio phonetics. Thanks for making the easiest to understand video series on CZcams and keeping at a reasonable ~4 hours. Couldn't have done it without you
Mr.Might! Greetings from Minnesota! I would like to say thank you for helping me pass my FAA 107 test. I studied your videos along with a few other youtubers and it helped me pass with a 90%. Once again, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
Mr. Mig (lol sorry about the auto correct)
You are welcome! I hope it starts warming up enough for you to get outside and fly
Mr. Mig, I LOVE your videos!! Thank you so much for putting these together and sharing them with us. Well done!!
Mr. Mig, thank you for the content! Listened to your videos the morning of my test and passed. Multiple questions were directly related to what you covered. For anyone looking for a CZcams prep course, this is your best option!
Great job!
Please don't change a thing! I'm currently on weather theory in another course and came out totally confused. You have an excellent way of simplifying this subject. Thank you!
You asked if we think your current, “a bit of information, a few questions “ format is a good format. As a former education professional, trainer, and Marine pilot, YES! Excellent format. Exactly how it should be done. Bravo!
You are humble and genuine. You get thumbs up for passing your knowledge on to us. Each video I watch makes me more and more confident about taking the part 107 test. Thank you. I’m so grateful for your time and effort.
We definitely need some more practice exam question videos! I enjoy following along and answering and then having a knowledgeable person explain why the answer is what it is
Good to know! I’ll put another practice questions video on my video list.
Easily the best Part 107 prep I have seen online yet. Excellent info.
Thanks!
When I found your videos, they have helped me tremendously. It’s easier to comprehend for me when you teach all of the information and explain on the whiteboard in the classroom.
Just passed my exam this week, thanks mostly to you and your videos. Appreciate you, keep it up!
You are an extremely good teacher. Thank you, I finally understand this section.
Thank you for these videos!!! I was having such a hard time understanding the weather parts to this exam. These helped greatly. While I only got a couple weather questions I now know a lot! Your sample questions were on my test. Passed with an 80%!
Awesome job!
That was probably one of best presentations covering wind, fronts and atmospheric stability; SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks Doug!
Very nice! It's always good to present a bit of information, followed by a quick knowledge check.
Hi Mr Mig. You are a really good teacher. I wish ı had teachers in my highschool like your level. I am gonna taxe my exam tomorrow. I hope I can pass. Thanks a lot.
I like this style of video. It’s more focus.
You made unstable and stable air really understandable. Great videos.
Thanks Chelsea
I’ve got my test next Saturday and I love the way you’ve presented stuff, it’s really helping me grasp these concepts!
I like this style of lecture and quiz
Thanks Jay!
I am studying for my part 107, and in the videos, I have seen, I enjoy your style and how you break things down. I also like the tips and rules of thumb that you give. Im taking notes and will make flash cards out of it- thank you!
Thanks Christian!
‘’Just’’ Mr Migs!? You’re the Man brother. The ability to teach and to prompt is a scientific art form. To tap into another’s brain to afford them understanding of any concept should NEVER be underestimated. Great work brother.
Terrific. Love this style. Thanks for this...
Glad you like it!
Great explanation and questions videos
Thank you for taking the time !
You are welcome!
A tip I found that works with direction is thinking of it from a You perspective. You, the Pilot (think of all pilots as an single entity in most cases) are heading this way. The obstacle (in this case, the wind) is coming from here. You can see this used in FPS games where you may call out an enemy at a given degree.
I like the questions the way you did it in this video.
I do like this format and everything is clearly explained
Thanks for all your work and effort. Love the format!
one of the best personalities for teaching drone prep on youtube!! subbed!!!
Thanks Kngdvd!
Im taking my reccurent test in 2 weeks. Great video and thanks for the refresher.
Good luck!!
To answer your question around at 19:00 I do like the lesson then question. It's sort of like getting the knowledge then being able to apply it directly soon after with a relevant question/example.
I love this style of video!
You are an amazing teacher
Seems like a lot of trick questions on the practice tests Ive taken. Thanks for your video.
Thank you Mr. Mig!!! Just passed my test because of your videos ❤
Great stuff. BTW I take my exam next week and missed a question on a practice test regarding age 16 as the minimum age to take the exam. Apparently its now 14. Here is what my exam site sent me after paying $175 to schedule.
Note that the duration listed above includes extra time to sign in and to receive your printed score report after the exam.
Exam Details:
Number of Questions 60
Age Requirement 14
Time Allowed 2 hours
Passing Score 70
Thank you for sharing that age requirement with me. I was unaware the age requirement changed.
I like the lecture and quiz style lecturing. 😀
Mr. Mig is easily the most watched video content used for Part 107 prep...Thanks!....have taken two practice exams and passed both, just need more time on the weather. Taking the test in less than two weeks.
Best of luck! Let me know how it goes!
@@MrMigsClassroom I took the test at 1130 yesterday and passed with an 82%!!!.....I saw so many questions I never seen before on any of the 5 practice tests I took. I scheduled 3 weeks out. I only had to bookmark 3 questions and completed in 1:55. Hallelujah!! It was your playlist of videos I watched the most to prepare. Thanks for the great content!
I am recommending your channel to my daughter, a Marine aviator .
Thank you for these videos. I have been studying for the 107 and the weather part is giving me the biggest fit. Your videos are helping tremendously!! You are awesome for taking the time to make these! Also I like the layout of your videos.
Thanks Mikeyg!
Thanks for the info! I like the learn and then test structure!
I like this process but both works for me. Thank you
You're awesome, thank you. my buddy got me to do all this and when he took his test he got a lot of airport operations, when I went and did it in a state next to mine i got an unreal amount of weather questions that I didn't study for, maybe 2 or 3 for airport operations. So I failed and I'm retaking tomorrow and you're my saving grace right now!
Your style works for me... Thanks!!
Thanks Brock!
Learning a little bit and getting a question are the best way to Learn for me🎉
Love your vids and your teaching style totally brings me back to high school haha
Just took my exam and passed. I was surprised to see the utter lack of weather related questions on the test. Feel like I wasted a lot of time studying the subject. But nonetheless, thanks for all the great content! And your help in passing.
omw to take my test! Thank you for the 'weather refresher".....!
You can do it!
I've picked up a lot of this information just from having an interest in weather and from other study guides, but I think this is the best presentation I've seen so far. Onto the next video, which I hope will cover types of fog. That's definitely a weak point for me.
Thanks J!
Great video, from one teacher to another! I think balancing the information with practice questions is a great technique and highly effective. Thanks so much!
Thank you Krista!
Very good content there Mr. Migg!
Awesome job! I’m a retired earth science teacher and I learned from you!
Today I went to PTI Airport in Greensboro and took my test. I made an 85 on my first try. I will say, your videos helped quite a bit. You have a great way of explaining and I like how you take certain areas of the test and make a nice short video on them. I knew my weather from watching these videos, man, but I only had about 3 weather questions lol. Mine was primarily maps.
I have a few I know who are taking this test and I have recommended they use your videos to get help on areas they’re lacking. Again thanks again!
Thank you I am preparing for this exam
I like the format. Great videos to prepare for the part 107 test. Thank you!
This is great, thanks! For wind direction I think of facing the heading in degrees and then the wind is blowing in my face. So if the wind is 100 degrees. If I face 100 degrees, the wind is blowing in my face. I don't know if this helps anyone but it helped me visualize it. Thanks for contributing to the collective knowledge of humans, and in more detail than most!
You are welcome! And thanks for your wind example. I’ll use that with my students.
You're doin great. thanks for these.
Thanks for doing these..
Clear good lecture technique. Thanks
Thanks for the help! Taking the part 107 soon.
Appreciate it ... can't believe they raised the price. Was steep at 150. Thanks for the class
Thanks Timmy! I tell my students they are lucky because the school pays for them to take the exam.
Great video! Easy to understand.... your teaching abilities are outstanding
Thank you!
Very good!
Thanks Lee!
Thank you for making this video. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you,great video!
Thanks!
Thank you for this!
My pleasure!
Thanks this helped me cram for my test and I got a 87%
Nice work Ben! You Rock!
I love this style, it is very useful and helpful for me. I am having weather issues. I would have liked to have known why the other answers were wrong as well as the correct answer. I think that explanation sometimes clarifies things a lot better. I get to thinking in what I call a tunnel (Almost like Tunnel vision) and it can make me miss the obvious at times.
Thank you. Very helpful!
Thank you thank you thank you
You are very welcome
thanks for the great content!!!
very helpful
Liking the videos, I don't know if this helps but I like to think of stable and unstable air as diffrent bodies of water. Stable would be still water like a pond (or an untreated pool) that can get murky with a smooth layer of algae on top. Unstable air would be more like a river, the water is clear and kind of sporatic, shooting up and out of the river bed since it's running into rocks and whatnot.
NJ, I love the analogy of comparing stable and unstable air to bodies of water!
I like this style!
Thank you
That was great, thank you so much for these videos. I take my test next week. I’m still struggling with the air density questions.
Good luck. I want to post an air density video soon but I can’t promise it will be up by next week
I like this style.
I like to think of the wind as an attacking army. It is attacking FROM a direction. We are the defending army, so we send our aircraft TO the direction the wind is coming from.
Love it!
Helpful thank you for this!
Appreciate the info boss!!
So here is my question. Stable Air vs Unstable Air. Ok, 2 types. But what about those days with nice clouds, no precip, slight wind, very sunny and clear, no turbulence, good visibility - little haze. Is that Stable or Unstable? Seems like we need a third type. And I do like the learn, ask questions format. The other is good too for the checking out how to react to a test. Great job with the Part 107 training! I've seen you promoted on Facebook pages for Part 107 training. Keep up the great work!!!
Last semester I was in a drone/part 107 class and we barely touched on this stuff. I wish my class was like this
Glitch, I am glad you are enjoying the videos.
Love this style! Thank you Mr. Migs
Good to hear!
Thanks. I'm studying to take test soon
This was very helpful 👍. Ty for the free info much appreciated!!
Glad you enjoyed it Savage! Share it with others.
Good job, Mr. Mig. I'm starting to think this could be a way of springboarding into a meterology career as well. There seems to be solid overlap with knowing the science of drones and weather detials.
Thanks Chris!
excellent layout and learning style. more visuals would be appreciated but other than that it's amazing. Thank you for the videos, keep it up :)
Thanks Brandin!
an acronym chart or video would be awesome. it seems that there are many of them and if you are new it makes it real hard to understand some of the information. The government loves their acronyms.
Love this style sir.
Jim, thank you for letting me know. I will continue putting questions in the lecture.
Currently studying for the 107 and this question @12:51 had me puzzled. The book clearly explains A & C but does not explain why the answer is B. So based on how they are presenting this there seems to be a difference between a strong steady wind and turbulence….thanks for clarifying
😂 "I'm just a high school teacher........."
Mr. Mig
Hi Mr. Mg,
Do you mind clarifying something for me? The visibility of unstable and stable air seems counter-intuitive to me considering the other characteristics of unstable and stable air.
Unstable air: How would there be good visibility in showery precipitation?
Stable air: What is causing the fog/haze/smoke that is leading to the poor visibility?
Thank you in advance!
I don't understand how "wind direction changes" is the answer for what always happens at a front. Isn't it possible that a cold air mass going a particular direction overtakes a warm air mass going the same direction, but slower? Would this not be a front?
