  • Join Kevin as he sits down with sketch player turned actor Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, The Skeleton Twins) as they discuss his beginning PA distress blooming into an on camera career. Bill chats about the evolution of the Friars Club Roasts, the humor behind smart people dealing with crazy people, and how he was fired for spoiling Titanic for a sorority.

      @@NondescriptMammal I don't find him funny, but I think that most K-12 education is absolutely Pathetic. I Hated high school, but eventually went on to earn a PhD. Most of my K-12 education was a huge waste of time... except for being able to study French--but even that was somewhat pathetic because there was an asshole student in at least one of my years that my poor teacher had to put up with: she should have had the power to simply de-enroll him from the class as a Trouble-Maker, but instead we all had to waste our time on his disruptions...

      Maybe the SNL actor/writers knew who Kasey Kasem was because they were all show biz and TV freaks from an early age, same with the crew plus some are older, and the audience is all young people with no knowledge of who he was.

    • @EverydayNYC
      @EverydayNYC Před 5 lety

      @@emjayay what??!! I'm only 40 and I'm very aware of who Kasy Kasem is. He's very very much a part of Gen Xs on into the first few Gen Y's/Millenials peripheral perception... Have you ever been to a taping of Saturday Night Live? I have and I can clearly tell you it isn't comprised of fans of The Hunger Games. It really is a pretty wide cross section demographically speaking but it's average age is late 30s early 40s. And that's also the primary demographic of home audiences,. Which is a big reason why it's latest reincarnation has been so successful mining political parody the past few seasons. At this point in it's history SNL is catering to the very audience that grew up with it and have never known a time when it didn't exist. That audience can appreciate the fun takes of massive well known pop stars and young Hollywood like Kayne and Bieber . But they unlike their children are far more aware and invested in their knowledge about a different kind of celebrity.. politicians. So you can see by the type of sketches they are majorly doing regarding politics that their target audience ins middle aged gen xers and maturing millennials. Younger people aren't staying home on Saturday nights just to peep SNL. Unless it happens to be in a social house party and it's on or they are having a random quiet sat night at home... I'm not sure what you have based your conclusion on but it's fairly inaccurrate

    I worked as a PA on a Japanese beer commercial shot on the WB lot that was starring Schwarzeneger back in around the year 2000. It was a 5 day shoot, and I think Arnold worked about a cumulative 8 hours on it (that's including a portion that was just a photoshoot inside a soundstage). If that camera wasn't literally close up on his face, it was his stunt double doing the work (who was, if I remember right, a German guy named Dieter, he was actually really cool and nice). But yea Arnold had 3 massive trailers all parked in a row: one was his "living quarters", one was just a kitchen, and one was just a workout/gym area, and we were explicitly told as the lowly production workers we were never supposed to walk in between them. I know this so well because I got in trouble violating it once lol.. I was in such a rush to find and say something to the production manager (HE was allowed between them), I'd forgotten and I get like 20 feet into the "no walk-zone", he sees me and starts freaking out, waving his arms telling me to go around.

    I listen to the KPCS as I walk around Brookline, MA in search of something interesting (no luck so far). I may have looked crazier than usual as I was laughing out loud (is there an abbreviation for that?) listening to Kevin and Bill Hader exchange stories and spot-on imitations. My only complaint was that it was half as long as it should have been. It should be at least as long as a Cubs/Giants rain delay.

    I grew up on the comedy boom and really enjoyed that bubble while it lasted. Enjoyed SNL during a good period of that, and afterwards (personally.) it receded a bit, but Hader has always been a favorite.
    Nice to get to see him out of character, and kinda where he's at.
