  • In this video, I explain what a throttle controller is, what benefit it provides for your car, and review the four throttle controllers I've installed in my Elantra N and my wife's Veloster N. The throttle controllers are reviewed in the order I purchased them.
    In this video, I try to answer the questions below:
    1. What is a throttle controller?
    2. Why would you want a throttle controller?
    3. Which throttle controller should you buy?
    4. What is the best throttle controller for the Elantra N?
    5. Who makes the best throttle controller?
    6. Who has the most features on their throttle controller?
    7. What are the differences between throttle controllers?
    8. What does a throttle controller do to your car?
    9. Is a throttle controller safe?
    10. What are the performance benefits to a throttle controller?

    I got the HIKEIT-XS Premium for my 23 Elantra N and don't regret it a bit.
    - Good screen day or night, has a light sensor in it to automatically adjust the brightness.
    - Enough buttons and a dial to select the mode you want
    - 1 touch launch/passing mode, valet mode, and Auto IQ mode
    - Has a Anti-Theft mode to lock the accelerator operation which is unlocked using a custom pin
    Only thing I'm not sure about is what happens if the thief knows to just disconnect it and reconnect the throttle wires like stock. If anything it's definitely confusing for them at first, and they'd have to fiddle quite a bit under the dash to get it reconnected.
    $160US on sale, regularly $229US

    Great video as usual. Very informative! A lot of people have no idea what they are or what they do. I absolutely love mine and have had one on several of my previous cars and Jeeps. I like having instant response and no deadman pedal. If you've never used one, you're missing out. Alot of people use them for trucks but cars can benefit from them too. Don't knock it until you try it 😊

    So all the do is alter the throttle signal going to the ECU? Could not just achieve the same effect by pressing the accelerator harder?

    • @nprform
      @nprform  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes, pressing the pedal harder will help but the manufacturer also programming still has a progressiveness to the throttle. This eliminates that and makes it were you don’t have to push the gas hard to get the car to accelerate. It feels like instant acceleration.

  • @zdc590
    @zdc590 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Do any of these handle the abysmal throttle response dip if you switch the DCT into manual mode? I just want the throttle response to remain consistent between manual and automatic mode without having to interact with a controller or anything.

    • @nprform
      @nprform  Před 4 měsíci

      It will change the throttle response no matter what mode the car is in. For example, in race mode you barely need to press the throttle pedal to have the car accelerate. It takes away the progressive press of the throttle and turns it into and almost on/off feeling.

    • @zdc590
      @zdc590 Před 4 měsíci

      @@nprformI understand that, but the throttle mapping of the car changes between automatic and manual mode. I have used a pedal commander, but it is unable to pick up on the different maps between auto/manual, so it is still an inconsistent mapping. Were any of these options able to remain consistent between auto/manual?

    • @nprform
      @nprform  Před 4 měsíci

      @@zdc590 I will double check it tomorrow and comment again to you, but I haven’t noticed a difference between the two modes automatic vs manual mode. It has felt consistent to me, but I’m happy to check again and report back.

      @@nprform easiest to notice when the cars under load, like driving up a hill at say 30% or more throttle. Kick the lever over into manual while keeping your foot at the same throttle position and you'll feel the whole car slow down.

      @@zdc590 I’ve been testing the car while driving and don’t notice a difference in manual vs automatic mode. I will try what you’re suggesting later today and report back. There is a hill behind my house I can drive up.

    • @nprform
      @nprform  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I really like the Wind Booster app controlled throttle controller. This unit allows you to forgoing mounting a screen in your car. If you want a screen, I like the Wind Booster 3S. The graphics are cool and easy to read. Both allow you to select your transmission type.

    Huge gimmick, it's modern day snake oil

    • @zdc590
      @zdc590 Před 4 měsíci +2

      It does exactly what it says it does. It modifies how the car interprets the throttle position. Most modern cars have an awful throttle mapping that are designed for your average oaf to be able to create smooth inputs. Throttle controllers don't make a car faster, obviously, but it gives you a more usable pedal travel for modulation. Let me guess, "just push the pedal more if you want more power" that's not it, man. I want a useable RANGE of power. Modern cars give you jack shit right up until you push the throttle 70% or so. Which only gives you 30% of pedal travel to then modulate with. I don't want a spongy pedal that does nothing and then turns into a light switch for power or not at the end of its travel, which is exactly what most modern throttles are.
