That's the thing, even if Sentinel was not in charge, but he would still be around, anyone more sensible would suspect Sentinel first to be a Decepticon Double agent, considering his track record. Shockwave/Longarm might act more suspicious, but when it comes to actual actions and consequences, he would not seem as the most likely traitor on the reports.

Shame animated didn't get to finish. It had such a unique take on many norms of the franchise that I wish was expanded on not counting to books I still haven't tracked down.
Season 4 had great ideas for its first episodes. The team had an interview where they revealed them, amongst other things bringing Tripticon into the mix. B)

I kinda wish that was intentional because that would make sense seeing as he's often caught off guard when people get suspicious of something or are close to finding out his true nature.
Honestly though, I really liked this character. He even learned from his early mistakes by being much more careful about when where and how he communicated with Megatron, and kept his cool much better at first. The problem was that he had a starscream moment (aka acted like an egotistical idiot) and BLEW HIS GODDAM COVER FOR NO REASON. Then it became a hot mess because he knew that if at any moment anyone got in contact with Optimus' team and came back his cover would be blown immediately, so he became overly stressed and over-defensive as a result.
I like how his color scheme doesn’t always match his robot mode. Sometimes he’s shockwave in long arm colors, and right at the end (if I’m not mistaken) he’s in his long arm form whilst having the shockwave color scheme. That’s a nifty detail.
I'm just impressed how well they captured Shockwave's personality and even put him in the spot Luggnut wanted to be this whole time. That's good drama. Not to mention Blurr also.

I like Season 3, it gave Megatron so much damn life! the summary of Transwarped is: Megatron needs a therapist, because he was stuck alone, with Star Scream, for way too long.
Lugnut’s just pissed because Shockwave has always Megatron’s favorite. But then again, the quick skirmish between Shockwave and Lugnut could’ve been avoided if Starscream just kept his damn mouth shut.
Ok, but imagine if this concept was done justice in the future. Rather than trying to rise to the top of Autobot communications (a position that naturally attracts a LOT of unwanted attention) Longarm could instead be some low rank scientist working in Weapon Research and Development as a cover to leak information to the Deceptions on Autobot technology strengths and weaknesses. It would also give him an excuse to tinker and develop his own weapons that could then be later used for the Deceptions. What would make this a VERY interesting possibility is that as going Undercover as Longarm-Shockwave could be treated with respect by colleagues, teach and learn from others, even develop friendships that could either force character development and cause him to betray the Deceptions or will deeply hurt his colleagues (and potentially himself) when they learn the truth. This could be a fun, unique direction for the character that has mainly just been a logical, cold, war criminal scientist. Sadly, I doubt this will ever see the light of day as a lot of Animated’s good ideas have been mostly thrown in the gutter: The seekers being Starscreams clones that are facets of his personality was abandoned; Protoforms turning humanoid was never used; more glimpses into non-aligned characters like the Constructions, Swindle, Wasp, or even Blackarachnea to an extent-never came back in a meaningful way; etc. The only major idea from Animated that was reused is the Allspark, a mcguffin that could do whatever the plot wants, is kinda a shame.

This is the first time Shockwave felt as powerful as he's made out to be. Prime got close, but his smaller stature and lack of proper one-on-one fights really hindered him. TFA Shockwave feels, looks, and sounds powerful. Someone who'd easily overthrow Megatron if he wasn't so loyal

This is the first time Shockwave felt as powerful as he's made out to be.
Prime got close, but his smaller stature and lack of proper one-on-one fights really hindered him.
TFA Shockwave feels, looks, and sounds powerful. Someone who'd easily overthrow Megatron if he wasn't so loyal
