With the highway example, if you change the node option to “stretched” it keeps the lane markings and thus the road colour as well.

This is an EXCELLENT tutorial- I had no idea just how powerful the node controller mod was- it really is a "game changer". Thanks for sharing this with the community. I've been a Cities Skylines player since day 1 with thousands of hours clocked up. I've just returned to the game after a 6 month break- my PC was no longer fit for purpose and I was waiting for the new Apple MacBook Pro MI Max. It's an INCREDIBLE machine with INSANE results for Cities Skylines- I have over 6000 mods/assets subscribed and the game loads in just over 2 minutes and it runs like a dream all on the highest settings. Amazing how rusty my skills have got as a result of the break. Re familiarising myself with skills and tricks.

Damn you. I already spend WAAAAAYYYY too many hours getting intersections "just right", thanks to all the tools we're blessed with these days, but now you've given me some additional ideas that I'm gonna end up implementing, requiring more time. I already stormed past several points of diminishing ROI.

    Very inspiring, thank you!!!
For the Dutch Brickroad segment in the video.
The road markings (looking like a ruler) that are made by off-setting the node are actually used to indicate a speedbump.
So technically, by zig-zagging, you made a double slowdown road.

Unfortunately the old node controller has a bug where it “forgets” the settings of some nodes when you load the save (makes them flat). It’s fixed automatically when clicking on these nodes, but it’s annoying to do that each time you load the save. I think the new version had the same bug initially, but it’s been fixed now.

    • @Akruas

  • @gabiballetje

When making custom markings fo rthe highway node being stretched, thankfully you can make a profile/pattern/template for that and save it and then copy paste that to all the sections that need it, so you kind of only have to do it once. Great stuff.
    Cuts down on the hassle.

The bit about making abutments parallel to the lower road is amazing. That has always bugged me.
Something I do a lot is use it to force trains to use both platforms of the cargo stations. Use TM:PE to connect the lanes so trains ignore the switches the game puts in when you connect the rails to the terminal. Then turn the node from "custom" to "middle" and the switch disappears. This is great because it lets you have trains from different areas be dedicated to a specific platform. Most of my cargo terminals are set up like this.

It’s more about a play style or specific save demands. I’m currently doing a series more focused on a Let’s Play, so the Renewal gives me almost everything I need, and since it’s simpler I chose it.
In a series I’m planing, it will be more of a Let’s Build, so the original will be needed.
Both are great anyway, just for different purposes 🤷🏻‍♂️

I prefer the original node controller just because it has more options, there is a lot of missing option in the new node controller, and that's unfortunate, because the new one is easier to use.
20:08, this has been happening to me too, I have thought that this was because of the node controller but I am glad that it's not because node controller. All I need to do is just click the node and it automatically updates it self. Although now I will have to find out what's causing that.
