- After Nick Saban begs for his one second to be put back on the clock in the 4th quarter with the score 28-28, the second string kicker for Bama goes onto the field to attempt a 57-yard FG. Chris Davis Jr. waits patiently 9-yards inside of the end zone just in case anything happens. The ball is kicked. The ball is short. Chris Davis Jr. receives and runs the longest possible distance you can run in a football game. Down Pat-Dye field he goes. Defenders are blocked accordingly. 109 yards later: Touchdown. College football's biggest rivalry has come to a close for the 2013-2014 season and the Auburn Tigers coached by Gus Malzahn are crowned the champions of the state of Alabama. Until next year... War Damn Eagle.

Reportedly, the crowd noise reached the level of a jet aircraft taking off. And it may as well have been, since Auburn was headed off to Atlanta and the SEC Championship game by winning that night.
I'm not an Auburn fan, but I have to admit that was a great play. My jaw dropped.

Although I am an Alabama fan, this right here - the emotional reaction and adoration of the home crowd on the unexpected - is the absolute best of college football. It hurt to be on the other end, but if you watch enough games, you'll experience both the highs and the lows.

I'm not an Auburn fan, but I can't stand Bama. So when I watched this play at a friends house in the heart of Texas, the entire room erupted, jumped around, and was shouting GO - GO - GO. A lot of Texas fans were happy for y'all.

That play made all the national news outlets. I remember when Rod Bramblett had a telephone interview with Fox and Friends. They called him the Holy Cow man based on his screaming when he realized that Chris Davis was going to score. RIP Rod and Paula Bramblett.
I'm a Michigan fan, and I think this is the greatest play in the long history of college football. This view from the student section is pure gold, especially when they realize that he's breaking away.

I was just coming to a point when I could understand the sport when I heard about this. I'm a South Carolina fan, but I spent most of my last summer at this school. After seeing the passion these fans have for their team, how can I help but be a fan too? I also understand the elation that comes from winning a rivalry game. The importance of this game couldn't be overstated: not just a chance for the playoffs, but bragging rights. This miracle play makes it that much sweeter.
The crowd reaction gives me chills every time.

I can't even imagine how hyped I would be if I was in the student section that night. I'm not a fan of either team, but that makes great games like this even better. I still love the fact that Bama and Saban fought and argued to get that 1 second put back on the clock just to end up losing like. One of the best endings in college football history.

From a huge Big Ten-Four (if only they could count) fan: I may have enjoyed the results of Ohio State beating Alabama this last year more than the 2013 Iron Bowl for what it did to all the crap SEC and/or other fans have said about us for years, but this is the only game, and specifically play, in history to single-handedly make me a fan of a team, assuming that they're not playing one of mine, etc.
Inside the SEC, I now root for Auburn, straight out, because of this.

As an Ohio State fan. That night, despite our team choking in the B1G championship game. That night was the best 15 seconds of my life. The hope we had. The miracle outcome. It was a perfect night for football.

crazy to think this was a decade ago. early 20-teens videos are starting to have that strange obsolescence that videos from the 80s and 90s have, where you can remember being in the time period of the video; where you were, who you were with, what you would've been doing, what was on your mind, etc so you remember them with the same novelty you experienced them with. but then you see videos like this and it looks visually different due to camera quality and video software and it reminds you of videos youve seen of the past that were shot before your time. history suddenly seems much more near.
Its july 5th 2021 and seeing this clip makes me understand how much we took fun for granted...

We (my brother and I) were there for this game and the Georgia game. It is unsurpassed. I almost had back to back baby heart attacks. We didn't think something like that would happen TWICE! btw - love Ole Miss. I drive through Oxford all the time to see my hubby. He's building an addition to a hospital in Little Rock. Oxford is lovely. And my husband is a Bama fan. bahahahahahaha
