C63 AMG = Really nice car with awesome power. M3 = The ultimate driving machine. There's a reason only one of these cars has been referred to time and time again as "the benchmark"
I have a C63. I love this car so much, I take drives in it for no reason. I get in the car, and then decide I should go somewhere. It is as fun to drive as any car I have ever driven. The BMW M3, GTR, Audi, are all great handling cars, and look great. I just chose this one because it has the most appeal to me. When you start it, EVERY one turns around with that "what the hell is that" look. I love it...the sleeping beast! The acceleration on this thing feels insane!
I've owned an M-Series BMW and a C63. I can say, without doubt, the C63 is the most incredible car I've ever driven. Hands down.
What m series?
***** Hi there Chadwick Clark, first off I'm a Porsche man.....I do like the C63 but the M3 is my favourite out of the two, still both are German engineering masterpieces but being that the M3 is a coupe get's my vote.....sorry amigo !

The video speaks for itself,who do you think are driving these cars, these guys are professional race car drivers not some street guys... Merc boys you know the E 63 is fast but you would never dare to chase a m3 down through turns, you would shit your pant when that merc starts sliding out....its a nice strait away car and thats all....
This was in 2008, a lot has changed since then, the black series c63 would be a worthy match for the m3

Well this is a program about road cars, and BMW always handles better. Formula one and DTM, thats another story.
Lol did someone really bring up the black series as competition for a normal m3? Black series is a track car and it is competition for the m3 gts

@Junior4AMG when this test was carried out, the M3 was only available as a coupe and the Merc a saloon. Both other variants came out later - so they were direct competition at that time.
@michaelba86 While I agree with your point overall, just want to mention that X5M/X6M motors are indeed turbocharged, as will be the next versions of the M3/M5.

50 more horsepower? no you're wrong. the m3 has 309kw which is 420 HP and the c63 has 336kw which is 457HP. m3 has 400nm of torque and c63 has 600nm of torque. but the m3 kerb weight is 1600kg as for c63 its about 1760kg so the m3 is lighter! besides its not accurate the speed gun because you can't get it exactly on the right spot so c63 could of been 4 or 5 mph more!
its not even comparable, m3 is a boys car that is more of a track car obviously, the amg is the street beast. On the streets is where it matters and having more low end with better sounding v8 is all the amg needs to be better then the m3.
so i dont know too much but are they using the e-brake when drifting or do you not always need to??
well i still prefer the C63.....

@azianprime02 it`s because of the price difference and the money for the parts.
It's a coupe, I didn't want to risk losing rigidity. Plus cloth convertibles, I hear, are notoriously tricky with the AC and air insulation. Those ML63 AMGs are beastly. I love seeing big-ass vehicles like the X5M, Cayenne Turbo and ML63s accelerate so hard, especially when they're so damn heavy. In all, we currently own my 128i, my dad's M5, and my mom's X5M. My dad's first M car was the Z3 M back in the 90's. Sadly I wasn't able to appreciate what a fun little package it was. LOL at the Lexus.

@melpy9 Dude there's a four-door M3 as well, which handles the same/has almost identical performance as the coupé.

@panikkos86 Oh yea My bad . I know your right cause i recently went through the Idrive System and it shows me in Car Specs and Engine size says 4.0 Liter V8 and HP Output: 414 BHP
@michaelba86 Oh, definitely I agree 100%. I would find it very difficult to choose between the two and would most probably choose the M3 if it were my money because it comes in 6 speed manual... That would be my decider.

@ibanezkingtube and because of this V8 is used in other moddels, so its not as expensive as making a whole new motor, its only detuned because this car doesnt need more.
@ibanezkingtube Its about power delivery as much as peak performance, they go about getting up to speed differently.
Especially considering the monster torque it makes.

I agree. They are fantastically engineered, but by mechanical standards and longevity they tend to break down, I've also noticed the same with Audi electronics.
My friend, the C63 is the competitor for the BMW 335i. The C63 AMG is the competitor for the M3. And the C63 AMG Black Series is the competitor for the M3 GTS ;)

I drive a BMW 330d... I own with my father a small company that produces metal parts for car bodyworks, that's why I know "a lot" about cars. I've driven and tested many cars in my life, m3 and c63 amg included.
You can either get a manual or dual clutch automatic that has paddle shifters

If you look at it that way, the same engine in the c63 is used in all of the other bigger classes... The CLS, the S...
And in those cars it produces about 600 bhp. Which means that the c63's engine is very restricted. Just derestricting it should give 550+ bhp, let alone tuning it :)
The merc falls short on the manual transmisson. Either that or they should have made the gear changes in manual in the current car a bit faster. Both are good cars, and don't need any upgrades...
@pittsy98 exactly, you cant have as much fun in the m3 as you can in the merc, the m3 is still an awesome car, its just missing that something extra

weirdest thing in Canada is the starting price of C63 AMG is 78K starting but the M3 is around 90K starting...

@panikkos86 no it doesnt have a 4.0 liter . my dad has an 2008 E92 M3 and its a 4.4 Liter . But ive also heard rumors that BMW is going to be using a 3.0 L Inline Six with 450 HP
its really tricky, traction control always steps in, but having it rear wheel drive its predictable and really the car isnt too nervous on ice. And congrats man!! Those are really beautiful cars! Always liked those, I actually just traded my FX50S in for the C63 and next fall im looking at an ML63 to replace the stupid Lexus RX350. I like the one series, is it a coupe or convertible?
I have the four door merc. It is awesome for around town driving and the occassional stoplight drag! BMW is the more serious road car however.

The thing with the X5 is that it's all business. The interior isn't particularly pretty like the Cayenne's or the ML's, but it's focused and sporty. My mom loves the damn thing and she's had her fair share of drags at the lights XD. The thing we've noticed is how brutish the transmission is and how dim-witted it can be around town. But when it gets going, it's absolutely brilliant. The ML will probably be more comfortable and luxurious and almost as quick, but I've heard the steering is sub-par.

C63 is a nice looking car and a good on straight line but the m3 is a much better handling car

I've had both 09' E92 and 09' C63 and the Merc is soooo much more fun and loud as hell. Beemer was fun too but it took more to get it goin and then there was the $300 oil changes at the stealership....

@SanctuaryShred yes, i confused the c63 with other amg models that have a kompressor, but nevertheless its engine is still too big for this kind of speed and performance and the m3 is more liked becoz it has a high compression rate engine that develops more than 100 hp per liter, a lot more than the engine of the c63. As jason said, the m3 is a very easy buying decision to make.
@thestoryteller612 , I love both cars, but I just cannot agree with you.
Look at cars like the SLS AMG, SL65 AMG Black Series, and CLK63 AMG Black Series. M3, M5, and M6 are outstanding cars, but the AMG models I just listed are proven to be quicker in a straight line AND on the twisty road courses. The ///M division's top three models just dont measure up to ///AMG's top three models (and performance is objective, so this isnt just my opinion, it's a relative fact. Performance #'s dont lie)
Both are amazing.
But BMW ///M3 is Perfect.

@ventruevamp AMG 6.2 engine is detuned it makes 520hp when tuned with a chip, cant say same thing about m3.
the m3 is the more fun car to drive and takes much more skill to drive its just epic its more of a track car then street car

What i'm saying is, even though the m3 might be moe efficient, the mercedes is really giving pleasure to the driver, plus i'm also saying that the c amg has become a good opponent of the m3, while a few years ago, there was no comparison possible between a m3 and a c amg .

@JNhe3MYe you miss the point. the engines are designed to part of an efficient balance of weight , power handling etc based on the product the company wants to achieve. If the Beemer wanted to increase its displacement to compete with the marc, it would have to sacrifice something else or fall out of its intended niche. Without its ratio of power to handling etc it wouldnt be defined as an M3, just a merc in a different badge. So on that level it is pointless to compare: designed to be different
