    Great job! My house is a Victorian terrace with a passagea. The fireplaces at the ground floor are external but the ones in the first floor are internal. Should I just add two airbricks to the blocked fireplaces in the first floor? I want to block all of them since I can't use them but I want to avoid damp.

    Hello, @buildingwithbudd I’m looking at doing this with mine… was going to cap the chimney so isit advised to still airbrick the back of the chimney breast?

    • @BuildingwithBudd
      @BuildingwithBudd  Před rokem

      You definitely need some air flow, the cap on the top needs air holes as well so you get a flow of air from bottom to top, 👍

    How much would it typically cost to get someone to do this?

    No fly screen over airbrick? Won't pests have a field day?

    Why is the air brick put in back to front ?

  • @oliverhubball7759

    Question, I live in a semi detached with a shared chimney breast between the houses. What's the best way to allow airflow into it? As access to the back of the chimney to put an air brick in won't be possible

    • @BibiMizrah
      @BibiMizrah Před rokem +2

      Put a gap on internal brickwork and install an internal vent. Obviously not as visually appealing as the outside airbrick but will prevent damp.

  • @DadSkool
    @DadSkool Před 2 lety +2

    Why the air vent?

    • @BuildingwithBudd
      @BuildingwithBudd  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s to stop the chimney from sweating and causing random damp patches on the inside the property, many thanks for watching 👍👍

      @@BuildingwithBudd thanks, so i fi block mine i have to put a vent> Mine is a double with a fireplace in 2 rooms. it might be hard. we move in tomorrow and am thinking of putting a heater in there and clocking it up or even doing what you have done.
      So somehow i need air to get in at the bottom, Rght?

    • @BuildingwithBudd
      @BuildingwithBudd  Před 2 lety

      You need to get air flowing through, so the best one
      Is an air brick as low as you can get it , then it will flow up to the chimney pot , hope this helps 👍
