My name is Parayni. Named by my father even before I was born. He always wanted a baby girl. I come from the Santal community, a very ancient tribal community of India. Parayni means lotus in Santali and is pronounced as पोरायनी।😊

My grandfather named my mom ' Kannagi ' it's a historical character. My grandfather was very impressed by silapathikaaram, a novel and hence named his daughter after the main character in the book. I sometimes don't like my own name since it is a common,no meaning name. I like how curious people get when I tell them my mom's name.

My name was suggested by my late grandfather. My parents both had their names beginning with S, so they wanted to name me something pretty and meaningful with an "S". My grandfather had decided the name even before I was born: Sanjukta. It means togetherness. Since I'm a Bengali, I was given two names. My parents then decided to call me Mohor, which basically means asset or gold coin. They said I was a precious gift to them, and now that is my nick name.

My name is Agniswar. My father gave me this name. He is a big fan of Uttam Kumar the legendary Bengali actor of the 60's era. Uttam Kumar once played the main role of a film named 'Agnishwar' which is based on a Bengali novel of the same name. Both the novel and the film revolves around the eponymous Dr. Agnishwar who is an extremely honest doctor and a good man as depicted in the film. I actually really love the meanings behind our Indian names. When you get to learn the meaning, sometimes it really impacts you as well how carefully your name was chosen. Sometimes it signifies hopes and wishes for the kid, blessings, sometimes what our parents/grandparents wish our life would be like, what we achieve whether success or happiness or health and prosperity...I know change is inevitable, but I hope this doesn't change too much and people still give their kids meaningful names.
The thing with Sanskrit names, or names in old languages/inspired from them is how one word, one syllable can hold such intricate meanings... I really cherish my name and it brings me joy when I think of how my grandfather chose it for me, especially now that he's not here. Thinking of it brings those memories back
People I know generally troll me for having 'nath' in my name. They say it feels like I'm an old man . I always felt bad about it but now I realise people are either obsessed or jealous or uncomfortable with anything contradicting their generic mind set.

My grand uncle, my two aunts and now me - all single and childfree for life.😇
When I was borned my name was Finalized as "Anamika "by my aunt . I was being called with this name in school, home everywhere until 2 incidents took place
1. I met with a priest and asked the meaning of my name .He told me that my name is meaningless, means my name has no meaning.(I was stunned to know this )
2. A newly serial came in which Anamika was the name of a ghost (bhootni)
After knowing this i was bullied by my siblings. So i told my father to change my name .
So this is how my name originated as "Priyanshi" which means "Lovable"
Anamika means the third finger(ring finger) by which we perform most rituals

Nice name. Sanskrit names sounds too good in compare to John, Ron, Paul, kaul, Roy type meaningless English names.
Now when i read names like agastya, ajatshatru, yagyadhara, vikramaditya, baladitya, etc it feels like king.👑 Indian parents should start using these names.
@@kartiksavaliya7192 very true! Your name is also a good one, after Lord Kartikeya. I always like Lord Kartikeya's names for boys, like Kartik, Skanda, Vimala etc.

@Chinese Communist Virus thank you. Yes I had heard amid Covid parents keeping names of their new born children as Corona and something weird kind of.
@Chinese Communist Virus not only in parts of Jharkhand, Bihar and UP but other states as well. I think there must be a reason for the parents keeping such names. Warna aise kaun rakhta hain naam!
My mother named me Anushka. When I asked her the story behind my name, she said that when she was in her college, she read a book. That story was based on a Russian girl who was strong, fearless, but kind and always smiling. But her name was Anoshka. When I was born, I would always smile and won't fear anything. So she named me Anushka. But then, Anushka Sharma entered bollywood and I was always bullie and teased for it. Now this doesn't matter to me as Anushka Sharma is really successful.
Interesting story!

my father's favourite singer's name was 'hemlata' so, he named me this. i have always been embarrassed of having this name because it's old and makes an image for a 60 year old women who's probably a doctor or smth . my other name is dolly which was decided by mom, which sounds bit western. we tried to change my name but my father looked upset when I asked him so, i let it go. i hope none of u judge someone on the basis of their name and understand that it's just a way to address someone.

I was named Vasili after the soviet Aerospace engineer and inventor Yuri Vasilievich Kondratyuk. He wrote the conquest of interplanetary travel which formulated the maneuvers that lead to the first man on the moon.
Neil Armstrong visited his hometown after the success of Apollo 11 mission.
My father was inspired by Marxist views and read about Soviets a lot. Also the Soviet Union was very popular in the 70s so he first read about the name Vasilisa in a Soviet magagazine.😁
haha nice vasili is also a Russian slap champion
edit: Also Vasili Arkhipov, the one who negated a potential nuclear warfare.
not gonna lie but i have seen that yuri name in russians is very common
Thank god it wasn’t vasuli
Wasn't Vasili Zaitsev a very well decorated Soviet Sniper of the WW2.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, a man named Vasili Arkhipov pretty much single handedly saved the world from nuclear war. USA had imposed a naval blockade on Cuba in response to the Soviets stationing nuclear missiles there (barely a few hundred kms from the coast of Florida). WW3 seemed inevitable. A Soviet submarine was detected and followed by American ships in the Carribean Sea. The Americans tried to get the submarine to surface through controlled explosions but the submarine crew interpreted it as the start of the war. The launch of nuclear missiles was approved by 2 of the 3 heads of the submarine crew but the third one, Vasili Arkhipov refused to authorize the launch.
My father is a big fan of south indian actress "Bhanupriya". So he named my sister as Bhanupriya. Simple!

Video request: Broken Indian Healthcare System.
How would India become a superpower when the public health care system is extremely underfunded and understaffed and the corporate healthcare is on the path of becoming as expensive as the US. Moreover, the brightest minds choose to migrate on an increasing rate.

This trend is not just restricted to India. The Urban Rich People in other Asian countries like china, south korea, japan name their kids which sounds less Asian(White names) and they all have one thing in common- They want their kid to study in US or Europe: white sounding names are less likely to face racism.
But in Indian context, shift towards globalised names is more like a Class Establishing Phenomenon. Rich parents want their kid to have fancy names which is Kyra, myra, ayan, at present but will change with time.
Myra is a slur in my language 😌

Not true. This is mostly true of immigrants already living in those countries. Those people have both a Chinese name & an English sounding name for official purposes. Parents always use the chinese name to address their child.
@@globalcitizenn To some extent, you’re right. But there’s are lots of people who adopt English seeming names in Hong Kong and China; such as Apple, Dodo, Bambi and Heinz specially when they start work.
This might me true for china but not for Japan and South Korea . They both are developed countries and immigration from these countries is very low to western countries.
