D.E.P to a person who inspired me to move forward through his music
I saw Hermann Baumann perform a rehearsal with the National Symphony in Washington D.C. in the 90's just before he had his stroke. As a hornist, I had no clue what I was about to hear one of the treasures I'll carry my entire life - I will never forget it. He took the time to meet and talk with me. He's a very short man, but what he does would make you think he's an absolute giant -- his recordings are brilliant, but his live performance was unreal.
Hermann Baumann thank you so much for all your wonderfull music for this beateful instrument!! You will be always in our minds.

When you listen to this, there is no reason to doubt why he is acknowledged as one of the Greatest horn players of all.
As a horn player, I can only marvel how Mr. Bauman controls such a sound, without which one notices how hard it is to master such a broad sound
I was in Chicago at Northwestern U. working on my MM. He was friends with Dale Clevenger, Norm Schweikert, & Richard Oldberg, NU faculty & CSO horn section. I got a beer with he & Mr. Clevenger in Skokie. What a great man & artist! Michael McClary
Yes Baumann is the greatest! His impeccable timing and lively spirit come through in all his performances. I have always preferred his interpretations over all other horn payers, even Barry Tuckwell.
He was one of my very first idols of horn players... I listened to his recordings over and over again as a kid and I was playing along with it many times.
His interpretation taught me so much and I will never forget when I first met him at age 14 at a masterclass.
He was handing me a personally signed CD and I was so proud.
I couldn’t really understand him well because he already had severe speaking problems due to his stroke, but anyway this was the best day in my early life as a musician.

Funny enough, listening to this beautiful horn concerto by Haydn, I picture all the WORLD 'cultural TITANS' in a board meeting discussing their gifted knowledge that they left to humanity. Many must be scratching their heads trying to comprehend why the world is in such a mess...

He literally sings with the horn. Who plays with such passion as Herr Baumann these days?
Prof Samuel Seidenberg is playing on the same level as him. But there are actually a hand full of horn players who can play like him or better, for example Radek Baborak or radovan Vlatkovic. Very much students from prof Dallmann reached this level the last 10 years and became brilliant soloists.
Dear Johannes Busemann: I've heard Telemann's horn concertos interpreted by Baumann and other players. Definitely, no one of them can handle a candle in front of Baumann. As Delivery-gokko said, Baumann sings, the others play!
It is so good, my grandfather loves. The musical is beautiful and harmonious.

From what I can tell the third horn concerto here was composed by Antonio Rosetti. It is very much in his style and I believe that it has been recorded on another album as composed by Rosetti.
The concerto for two horns was surely composed by Rosetti. Rosetti's style is unmistakable throughout this music.

Haydn is one of the greatest composers of all times.......but he is lnumber 2 in Horn concerts to Mozart
Haydn was the only composer that even Mozart looked up to. Mozart dedicated six of his string quartets to Haydn, the inventor of string quartets.

Hermann Baumann is my favorite classical period horn player. Perhaps followed by Barry Tuckwell.
I'm also recommending some FANTASTIC Rossetti 2 Horn Concertos played by Klaus Wallendof & Sara Willis with Bayerische Kammerphilaharmonie.
I was trying to read. DON'T! I also had to back up 10 to 20 seconds multiple times to try to aurally catch and to verify what I'd heard.
