  • Does a Kidney Cleanse Work
A Kidney Cleanse is set up to "cleanse your kidneys" the same way a filter in your house or car is cleanses. Teas, smoothies, drinks all are supposed to work by cleansing your kidneys. Does it work? Is it worth the money?

Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”.
The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way. I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.
Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and CZcams sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 CZcams subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

Why? High blood pressure is extremely tricky to solve. There are so many factors that might cause it. High blood pressure will damage the kidneys without doubt. Ask doctors what causes High blood pressure and none of them will have an answer. So what you decide to do is up to you. Go on a wild goose chase and try and solve your high BP by yourself and not take the meds (continue to put your kidneys at risk), or take the BP medication and then try things alongside it to try and lower it further. Once you find something that works, you can perhaps look at coming off the BP meds.

Cooking Doc, do you mean the BP meds that caused the kidney failure in the first place? From what I have learned since bf going on transplant list is it isn't just insulin that causes kidney failure. Bf was down to 25 and his renal doc said his BP too high and switched his meds and low and behold his next blood work showed he was down to 19, time to be put on the transplant list. Sure his BP is normal now but hard to celebrate. So, I looked into the fine print and guess what, new BP meds are hard on kidneys! We trusted this renal doc because he is suppose to be the best. Why? Why would a renal doc put a person with low levels onto a med that would make him a candidate for transplant? Oh that's right, transplant business is a multi-billion dollar industry!

Took me 3 months forcing them to do a ultrasound n cat scan . I kept telling them something was stopping me from urinating. All they do is keep changing catheters and give me this ferocious catheters 1 use catheters few a day. The one-time use catheters. That's tearing my urethra up and I have to keep using 8 times a day . They thought I would only need to use two a day. I go to the bathroom more than twice a day. I went to the clinic one day had a fit I was tired of it. They made about $3,000 i i and my insurance . And only for there time and a catheter. They were thanking me for pushing harder for those test. What's wrong with these crazy medical fields of supposed to be for care of the people . Common Sense went out a long time ago. Booksmart isn't nothing if you don't have sense to go with it my rant today it boils me. it's your life and you want more done. I expect more from them . Bridget's Brew
(Assume all ingredients to be organic/clean)
    9 cups distilled water
3 cups barley pearls ("pearled barley")
    3 teaspoons fresh sliced ginger
    3 teaspoons Ceylon cinnamon
° (not "Saigon" or the cinnamon peeps in the States use for baking)
3 drams grape seed or coconut oil
    Half lime or lemon
    1 teaspoon honey
Rinse barley til milky water runs clear
    Set timer for 21 mins
Put water, barley, cinnamon, oil and ginger on stove in a big ol' pot.
Bring to a rolling boil - once boiling immediately reduce heat to low setting (1 or 2 - no more bubbles from boil)
No need to cover - butchya can if you like I suppose.
At 21 minutes* (total from the moment you place the pot on the stove to the moment you remove from stove), remove pot and strain liquid into anther pot (removing all solids (ginger and barley)
End product is a strained liquid. I use a strainer covered with a fine mesh nut bag to strain as I pour from the hot (cooking) pot into the cool pot.
    * if you boil or leave too long on the stove, the barley will soak up all the water. Point with the initial boil is to "wake up" the barley.
    Should make 6- 8 cups.
    Serves 2 for 3 days
1-1.5 cups per serving per day.
Store in a bottle or jug in the fridge
Take at least 1 cup in the morning with half a lime or lemon and honey a half hour before eating anything to give it a chance to get in there without "fighting" or competing any other foods or meds n stuff.
Serve warm or cold. If heating up, use the stove and don't boil - it's alive. No microwave either- it'll denture the molecules - basically kills the yummy goodness.
Brew every three days for a season (90 days). Bit of a labor of love. Make a little ritual of it. Have fun!
Do what the good doc here tells you - eat clean, exercise, quit them habits that you know aren't serving you no how. :)
    Drink your Bridget's Brew
Then visit the doc here and get tested again. See what he tells you.
    Be well!

I pray that God will continue to bless you to tell the truth, about the food we can eat, the simple exercise that we can do that will help keep our bodies Functioning the way that God designed it too. I do have one question; will a half cup of apple cider vinegar, a half cup of lemon juice and water keep my blood pressure under control ?

Doctor, you said nothing you eat can help but then you said you can by eating alot of fruits and vegetables. Did you mean, there is no detox available but to keep them healthy - do healthy things and remove unhealthy things?

You lost me Doc as you stated in the beginning that you cannot cleanse those filters those glomeruli by what you eat or drink (rewind to 2:18) but went on to say later in the video that in order to cleanse those same filters those glomeruli you must eat lots of fruits and vegetables (rewind to 4:18). Make it Make sense Doc ??????

The key to a healthy lifestyle is balance and moderation. Even drinking too much water can kill you. Create a plan, Find a way to balance everything within your control, eat what you want at times and make smarter decisions at others, exercise some days, relax others…etc

Let individuals take their own decision based on what they believe in. If they believe that some kind of food is helping them cleanse their kidneys, let them do it. Why are you so worried? It's their life, their money, and their decision. The Doctors of today are bigger culprits in keeping people unhealthy or sick.

This dear doctor wasn't educated in healthy care but rather indoctrinated by the AMA approved education system. As someone who almost went into the area of pharmaceutical sales and had the privilege of sitting in on the biochemistry level as well as sales and promotion level, the sad , sick , twisted truth of the matter is that they would laugh and brag that it was their job to "educate" the physicians about the new pharmaceuticals and ABCD (Always Be Closing the Deal) I do feel sorry for many Dr's wanting to help people but if they get more than 1 here there we'll, they'd quickly be out of business. And I received that "💡" at a fancy Christmas party at a wealthy Dr's home. 💔

Save yourselves about 4 minutes of your life by skipping to the last minute and a half of this video to see for yourselves it's completely useless. Eat your fruits and vegetables, take your medications and manage your diabetes--is that all they teach in med school these days? A 5 minute video on kidney health and that's the best you came up with? Idk doc, you're kind of proving the case for DEI 😂 We deserve better than this Dr. Shusterman.
