Flax, the procedure you're talking about, it's called a Vagal manuever. I'm an EMT, (like a paramedic, but a little bit less training) I learned about it for the first time during an ambulance ride along in medic school. The paramedic in charge of me brought a woman down from over 200bpm just by telling her to tighten her muscles like she was pooping and to breathe out slowly like she had a Starbucks straw in her mouth.
Also Lewis, I believe atrial fluttering is a lit different SVT like what flax has (Supra Ventricular Tachycardia).

AFAIK Atrial Flutter is a type of Supraventricular Tachycardia.

What I'm surprised by is how they don't realize how useful credit cards can be if you get the right ones and manage them well. For just small annuals fees (as long as you make sure to pay off the card on time) there are many that will earn you a bunch of cash back, travel miles, etc. If you have the means and management skills to be able to always pay them off on time, credit cards can be extremely useful in saving you money (especially on airfare, hotels etc.)

I would just like to thank pyrion for his info on SVTC. My son was just diagnosed and he's 9. Listening to your story helped me understand what he goes through as he has trouble explaining it to us. I can also now tell him that a member of the Yogscast has the same condition he has which will make his day!

I have seen someone get that shot that pyrion was talking about and it really is pretty intense. It was described to me as "it feels like dying."
When I get a panic attack I can get that in pending doom feeling for minutes on end. It's terrifying.

Holy shit. I had the exact same thing as pyrion a few months ago. it would happen whenever i got really cold very suddently but usually went away. one time it wouldnt so i went to the hospital and they did the exact same thing! the doctor leaned over to me and said "okay so people feel like they are about to die when they have this". i stayed pretty calm and it wasnt really bad but i experienced a strange feeling like i was falling. so glad someone else out there has had the same experience as me
Yeah, Nicholas Cage buys castles, yachts, ancient artifacts, the most expensive cars, manorial estates, etc... and just drives himself so heavily in debt that he'll take any job he can just so that he can keep buying more.
Over here in New Zealand you can get paid either once a week or fortnightly. I moved to NZ from England, and I really don't know how I survived over in England getting paid once a month.

Haha holy shit, Sips story about a homeless man taking a shit reminded me of a time when I was living in Berlin and a friend of mine and I went out to have dinner and we then went back to his building to have a couple of beers. My friend opens the building door and starts running and going to his apartment as to "leave me behind" and I was like "fuck that" and kept on calmly walking and crossed the hallway leading to an open area that we had to cross to go to another set of stairs that lead to his apartment and then he suddenly comes out of that part of the building laughing his ass off and he tells me "Dude! Somebody took a shit on the hallway" and as we enter I see this shit smeared all over a wall and on the floor and it smelled so fucking bad.
Live in the US and dont really have to worry about healthcare, or having to schedule around days where doctors dont work. its pretty cool
Holy shit Pflax, I had SVT when I was in middle school and had to go to the hospital and get the injection. Nothing seemed to stop it except standing on my head as weird as that sounds, honest to god it stopped the arythmia 9 times out of 10. I eventually had to get a cardiac ablation to get rid of the node that causes SVT, you should try doing a head stand if it happens again, no joke it fixed it for me, I had to do it a few times while at school
I highly doubt Pyrion can do a headstand.
well yes when your heart stops you feel.. well.. you feel what It feels like to die... and when an organism dies it accepts its death soooooo that's just the feeling of being completely okay without any fear or reluctance to die

In New Zealand I get payed once a week. I put aside my expenses and whatever I didn't spend on food and gas, ect... and next week leftover money is put aside for whatever im saving for.
After Pyrion's talk about SVT I went and watched videos about SVT for 2 hours. I am now convinced I have SVT.

Some good quality advice.
The sad part about student loans, is that I know a guy whose school is expensive, and if he doesn't land his job feild. He will be paying that loan off for the rest of his life and then some because the loans interest will be more then he can afford.
Mate student loan/debt in UK is often blown out of proportion - you pay so little back you barely notice, and written off after 30 years work it's really not bad at all
BTW Lewis, I'm literally taking a class called Personal Finance in high school in the U.S. and it's a requirement. So they do teach it in schools.

My father's heart weakened over the years too, to a degree when he had a serious heart attack and me and my siblings found him and got freaked out. Luckily we reacted fast enough, and everything worked out at the final end, but man. That was traumatizing for a child to be in that helpless situation where it kinda bears somewhat of a responsibility in their parents live and death. I'm happy it worked out rather smoothly for Pyrion, but I really do sympathize with his children xd

I consider myself a rather smart person, but I'm scared that when I get a job I'll have 0 idea how to handle my money effectively.
Student loans are easy to manage because a majority of the work is done for you, and budgeting what's left is a piece of cake.
I still stand by my point, this stuff should be taught in either business or home economic classes. Teaching kids how to manage their bills, learning abo7t finance and mortgages would do them nothing but good and stop them feeling the way I do. Constantly stressed.
I know me stressing is stupid but I'm only like that because after school you're just thrown into a world of money, loans, debt and payments with 0 knowledge of what any of it means.
I even developed anxiety through it. Sure, not everyone is the same - but I'd rather people find it easier... To me it's tough. There's 0 education around this topic and any advice I've gotten has been confusing because I don't understand the technical jargon.
Jay Wood What parts are you specifically stressing about? Managing bills and budgeting can be really simple if you know the basics. Building and earning credit is also simple, but you have to maintain it carefully to keep your score up.

I got a 2:2 after massive amounts of work but I am not an academic but I have real skills. I started my first job on 30k two weeks after my last exam. Having a less than perfect degree doesn't necessarily mean that your an idiot or that you didn't work hard!

On my collage entrance exams I failed 2 of them(with a 4/10 on both): These two exams where about grammar(and all that shit) and literature of two different oficial languages in my country, and yet I still managed to get a 7.25 out of 10 on average: Just because you suck at certain shit doesn't mean you're an idiot in general.
