I was a giant nerd in the 90's and had a surprise encounter with an Asian gang member. My friend and I get out of tennis practice and are eating nachos by a taco truck. A shaved head asian boy comes asking where we're from. It's obvious we aren't from anywhere, but he wasn't convinced. First, he demands money... and my friend opens his wallet and shows he has no bills. After digging into side pockets, a quarter rolls out and circles on the floor. Then my friend picks it up and hands it over, but I don't remember if the homie took it. So, we continue eating and homie won't go away. Maybe he felt like he lost, so he just keeps staring us down. Finally my friend asks if the homie wanted some nachos, and he replied, "Yeah, gimme all of it." So my friend goes in for one last bite before saying goodbye to his nachos... and he grabs one of the bottom chips that carried 6 chips and a bunch of toppings on top of it. It was a massive bite. He downs it and hands over a nearly empty plate. Gangster homie is not impressed. He starts turning red, tells us to watch our backs, and disappears by the dumpsters behind the 711. I think back on that moment and laugh. I wonder if the homie laughs about it today or wishes to forget.

I grew up in Garden Grove in the 90s and still live here. If you were Asian with a zero fade spikey hair and drove a lowered Honda or Acura you were getting pulled over multiple times a week around here. They'd stop you for some BS but the first thing they asked you was whart gang you are from. I miss the 90s early 2000s. Always got hit up wherever I went, car chases, brawls at clubs, billiard clubs, basketball courts, shootings at house parties and I wasn't even in a gang but you always knew someone or had family members or friends in different gangs. My sister used to hang out with Anh the Duong and I and I went to school and was friends with Ronald Tran. Both are at San Quentin. Who remembers the Robotek and Speed Image shootings? There was also a lot of shootings at internet cafes and regular Vietnamese cafes. Crazy how much time I spent at those places and still alive today haha
Yep My homie Chino Mike was 2nd in command at Robotek and was there the day Charlie got shot. It was a crazy week but Charlie crossed a person he shouldnt have crossed

just to correct you , The first Vietnamese Trg were from santa ana back in the 90's, They were the SAV TRG, santa ana valley, from santa ana valley high school.
@4:59: While "Huy" is a Vietnamese spelling, it is also a Korean name where it is spelled "Hwi".
They are both pronounced the same in both languages, It's all from the Chinese character: 輝 (辉).
Every Viet name is Chinese. China wiped out Vietnamese culture in 111CE and made everyone adopt chinese culture. Viet names are just Viet ways of Chinese names.
1995 we had a vietnamese family from orange county that rent our basement, I had a chance to talked to their son , at the time I was only 14 he has to be at least 17. 80s n 90s were the time when most Vietnamese migrated to the US and they had no parents to watch over them. The parents were too busy with their family business. So many young Vietnamese boys needed to group up to protect each other from everyone else. They were young kids trying to flex their muscles. But since then, the current Vietnamese are just focusing on education and making money. Hence, the violence with Vietnamese gangs are behind us.
Street level nonsense.
Good Shit Sergio, things were hot in the '90s. I remember being an older-looking kid with a mustache in the '90s and on the daily would get asked where I'm from or what hood I claimed, guns being flashed and fights ensued just by a quick glance. The '90s and the Asian gangs in OC were no joke.

Oh and during those day u was allow to smoke in the pool hall so it was cloudy all the time

You are correct sir!
I want nachos

Not going lie I miss these days, dangerous and stupid but a lot of memories back in the late 90s and early 2000s for me. I literally get jumped every other month and hit up at all the asian hang out spots. SHit was FUN! lol.....Las Vegas was mostly Flip and Lao gangs but all the crazy members were Vietnamese. We had Horny Boyz,Akrho Pinoy,Down right pinoy,Satanas,Flip side,Flip side 29, Pinoy Real, Tau Gama,Outkast,Suicidals,TRG,Island crazy boyz,Bahalana gang and Bahalana pinoy etc etc all in one tiny area of Las Vegas. lol
All these gangs thing is wack. I am so glad I pass all this crap. Got a good job and never look back.
I had a friend that would claim LF Lao Family..I grew up in Santana..One of my friends died from a stray bullet when two Asian gangs when at it..Also Asian gangs were the reason for curfews at the beach..We use to be able to hang out all night at Newport Bech peer till they went at it had a rumble and then came the curfews..Crazy times the 90's..TRG was the most common Gang in Santana..A lot of Combodians on Minnie St back when I was growing up..It all went downhill when they stabbed a Mexican kid on his way from school..Then the Mexican gangs stabbed an innocent Asian kid..It was a little back and fourth war..Not good..They were always out numbered, it is why they never kicked it off..
Gangs are bad.

AKRHO or the AKP is not really a gang, its a Fraternity and Sorority founded in the Philippines, at the University of Santo Tomas, AKP or the ALPHA KAPPA RHO. It has 3million members worldwide. Maybe the Filipinos in dat area are just members of the AKP and decided use it as their name.
