Brilliant way to study a language . Kudos to you.
Are you from Assam bro..
1. Light exercise ( 20mins )
2. Get 8-9 hrs of sleep
3. Have good food
4. Listen to music( w/o lyrics )
5. Hydrate( tea/water )
6. Pomodoro - 25mins of focused study followed by 5 mins of unfocused activity
7. Plan your day
It seems that some noisy music is good to get into the study mode.
Merci ☺️
I have done those first 5 points and now I'm feeling sleepy!

I can bet you sleep more than 8 hours in 24 hour day
Yep certainly, same to me
Stop social media, you can sleep 10 hours
Lmao, ikr. I currently sleep 4-6 hours
@@nylepentik2696 me too
Right body, right mind
- 8hr of sleep a night (phone off at midnight)
- Eat well
Right environment
- take a few minutes to set up your study environment
- white noise
- tea (productive fidgeting)
Right work
- Pomodoro method
- set goals for studying sessions (prioritize)
Thanks a lot John, I tried this out, and it did give me good results. I just have to keep practising it now.
San Sequeira good job! I wish to do the same too, but I need the will and time. I should be able to do this though :D
good job!
Also, the lack of sleep also prevents the body from producing Dopamine. The neurotransmitter essential to keep one motivated to study!! Great vid and hope your running is going great!!
HarmilK wenger out
Adderall produces dopamine
Sergio Perez Yes but then your body will stop naturally producing it and then you will have to be reliant on the aderall without withdrawal training
M S yep he's out
HarmilK meth produces way more dopamine
Summary:
1. Right body, right mind: If you take care of your body you take care of your mind, a little bit of exercise is helpful, makes you more functional, sleep at least 7-8 hours it affects efficiency directly rest is important, eating well provides long-lasting energy.
2. Right environment: Setup the workplace before working, try white noise and avoid lyrical music, have tea or water while studying.
3. Right work: Make sure you are being efficient and focused, Pomodoro technique (25 mins work and 5 mins rest four times before taking a long break or make your own time), continuous block of study makes you tired so setting a timer is helpful, writing tasks/goals before starting.

Hmm........ Interesting
Thank you so much!! I'm a year 9 (freshman in high school) and I have 4 AP classes (Maths, Science, English and Social Studies). For weeks, all I would do was school work day in and day out because I have to work harder than everyone else. I'm genuinely sure that I'm the least intelligent person in all of my AP classes. It also doesn't help that I have more family issues at home than you normally would and thus I have depression and social anxiety. It's like I'm trying to figure out 10 things at once. But this video was super helpful.
The Quiet One Citizenship is propaganda
Thiago José Depression is a medical condition. Not saying that those with it can’t improve their lives but they are still much more prone to depression.
You should read "The subtle art of not giving a f*ck". Please do not make the decision on the title. I have read it and it has the solution to your problems. Give it a try. There are free ways to get it but I suggest you to pay respect to the writer and buy the book. Good luck with your life man.
you shouldn't have taken 4, I started with 1 and worked my way up to 3 now and I'm a junior. Theres no point in overloading yourself as you're just getting accustomed.

@@spacesomeone Which brain damage? All you do is up hormones like dopamine (noradrenaline & serotonin) for a few hours artificially, to levels that are within physiological limits. If you watch your favorite tv show, you will get the same effects, only much more short term. I'm sure there are negative effects, but none that I'm aware of.
AMAZING TIMING! Thankyouu! This video is going to be very very helpful! Exam season is fast approaching!

Thank you so much, John. Your vids are really helpful. And even re-watching them helps a lot to find out the loopholes and focus.
hey john, i just wanted to let you know that i came across your channel exactly one year ago, right before i enter my first year in college, and this specific video drastically changed my study habits. although my effort doesn't reflect my grades, i'd say i've significantly improved academically which i owe to you. "right body, right mind" struck me so immensely that it changed me; i'm able to retain the things i study now more than ever. with that said, i'm about to enter my second year with such mantra again. thank you so much.

Hey John!
I wanna thank you for making these great vids.
I practiced the white noise method and it helped!
I love to see people working on self-improvement; the way they talk just ooze confidence!
And they're always trying to see beyond and be a better self.
Nice job, man! you're inspiring a lot of people, and I wish we all the best to continue working on self-improvement mentally and physically.
Going to share this vid with my physics classes! Great suggestions. I wish I had used these ideas when I was in university.
thanks, I was having a hard time studying and my grades are in a low point right now so I wanna thank you. I'll try out these tips.

This is a great video, I have my French and math finals coming up, and let me tell you, I have very bad study habits, so I can’t thank you enough for this video
Wow! I discovered your channel today, and what I like the most is the fact that you don't use music o anything to fill in the video. It's just you talking and it really helps me to concentrate because I usually got distracted
Been waiting for this video

Thank you for making your videos brief and to the point. ❤️
Broooooo, you’re videos truly inspire me, like I feel it in my stomach, that whole (hole? idk) exciting vibe you transmit is just magical.
Dear John,
After watching your video, I have created my own Daily Planner. I have been following it since 25th May.
My daily Planner has the following Row headers and the column headers respectively:
(1) Date (2) To-Dos (3) Can accomodate (4) Rules broken Today (5) Today's learning
------------------------------------
(1) Task description (2) Status (3) Next Follow-UP (4) Comment at EOD (5) Blockers
What I have learnt from your video is that there is no harm making mistakes, but we should readily admit it. It's is the most easiest to cheat ourself and present a goodie goodie picture of our life to ourself. I am sharing you to acknowledge the fact that your videos are amking such a great difference. Probably that's the reason you study at Harvard (avoid ego :), that's bad for us all). And it's from you I got to know about tha pomodoro technique.

I just discovered your channel and I am really enjoying it!
Your videos are awesome dude. I from Chile, and I was doing a few tips that you mentioned, but with your videos my study is being better.
Hi john, i agree with most of the things you said in the video, except the 8 hour sleep,
8 hour sleep is a myth, because everyone's body functions at different rates of rest
i am also a Computer Science student at a Cal State University, and i also follow the 25 minute + 5 minute rest technique, and have been following it for the last 2 years, and it's definitely effective, but i only sleep around 6 hours to 6h30m per night, and i feel well rested when i wake up, and i can study and get working straight away,
not just me, some of my class mates who have a job get less than 7 hours of sleep, yet they are doing well in class
I guess, what i am trying to say is that 8 hours is a recommended, however not necessary, everyone's body functions at a different sleep balance
Yep, I go for 6 hours at maximum ( normally even 5 hours are enough ) and I feel energetic all day long;
Go to sleep at 1/2am and wake up at 7am and keep going all day long.
Mahin Paudel it's hard to understand a possible performance change when given thay type of grading
I'd see the change in how you feel when you wake up, energetic or like free of mind, no stress in the morning etc.
I used to struggle with insomnia and slept aprox 5 nights a week. Nowadays when my sleep is better, it somehow turned the opposite and 8h isnt enough for me. I feel dead if i only sleep 8hours, 10 is optimal.
7-9 is the normal amount of sleep everyone needs..defers based on the person
It's not a myth, just takes practice
“In elementary school I didn’t do well because I wasn’t good at studying”
Lol i never studied in elementary school
Same 😂
Never studied until I was 14
Same situation yet l was a A grade student but l wasn't good enough to stick eye of teachers on me so my elementary schools teachers don't even remember who l was but they can remember my friends. I didn't did well on my early high school l got failed in one sudject while I was in class 7 but it was a half yearly exam l become moaned after this l worked hard for final exam and l ranked 9 in class it was the truning point of my life after that l become a tremendous student and gradually getting more focused and working hard . Everything happens for good if l didn't got that F grade l couldn't be able to reach at this point 😊😁😁
I'm so happy I stumbled upon this channel. I've always felt like i was the only one who thought that there was something missing from simply achieving the A+. Your videos are so reassuring thank you so much! :) I'm in my final year of school.
I keep coming back to this video. Amazing! Thank you for the useful tips!
I wish this video came out when I was in grade 9
I don't really study, don't need it, I can usually remember everything, HOWEVER, I do study 2 to 3 hours a day in my Japanese1-2 class and believe me I am still almost failing it, and if I want to have a chance for Harvard, I gotta do that freshman-senior year, I am not excited👌👍
Thanks John, very insightful!
I don't know how I found you but thank God because this year I started my first year at university and seeing your ways to study or taking notes, it's helping me a lot and being able to get awesome grades and to be happy with what I'm doing. Thanks John, you are a pure example of an ideal student

Thank you, I’ve been really struggling with putting my head down and studying this year in my final year of high school, but I truly believe in your methods and am going to try to apply them to myself!
Thanks for motivating me. Badly needed. Great content!
man I tried studying with jazz or classic without lyrics but I would just get so bored, rap (xxx) that's loud and obnoxious is what helps me honestly, also makes me more intent on work cause the music keeps my brain busy, but I mean i guess it's different for each person
i do this sometimes too. listening to music in other languages like spanish helps me
It's about preference, I prefer random white noise
I think it’s different for each person too :)))
My cousin can focus well while listening to rock, rap. He told me that it kept him from being sleepy :))) He also prefer to study in noisy places. I have no ideas :)))
On the other hands, i cannot focus while listening to these
I prefer classical, jazz and white noises :)))

Please make a video on how to study as a student athlete. Like I be coming out of practice at 6, and I got like 3 hours to do everything (cleaning, cook, eat, recovery session, shower etc) before its time to sleep at 9 to get 8 hours of sleep and wake up 5AM. By the time I finish all my chores I literally have an hour or 30 minutes to study
Morappabro Videos Same, I have team training to 10pm at night, and by the time I get home shower, stretch and foam roll, I seriously have no time to study cuz I need to wake up at 5.30am the next day to go to school (thats like 6 hours of sleep, rip grades). But I just study on rest days so 2x week and maybe a little bit on the weekends

“I didn’t know how to study in elementary school”😂
HOW TO FIND THE WILL? I CAN'T FIND THE WILL TO STUDY! BELIEVE ME I WANT TO STUDY BUT I CAN'T START!
Free Soul seriously no one has the motivation to study, but we still do it anyway. We have to. Just start wether you want to or not and little by little you’d start to create a routine and that is way better than motivation
Try group studying
that's why he have goals of the day. Just write on a note "start studying at 15:00" and put it on a wall. Maybe at first it's not great but after you finish your work by starting at 15:00 I guarantee you that you are going to feel awesome.

another tip, instead of whitenoise or classical music, this genre called post-rock is also great, least for me it zones out the music after a while, and lets me focus completely on my work. But it's also great music to listen to in your breaks ;) (its sort of atmospheric instrumental rock )
