Cool fact: They replaced one of their guitarist during their career when he left. When the original guitarist wanted to come back, they didn't kick out his replacement, they just incorporated 3 guitarists in the band. Super classy move.
@@xXPyrophorusXx And the songs they created for Bruce's solo albums are damn great. The stuff they put out was far ahead of what Maiden created in parallel
There is a reason why Maiden has been one of the biggest live bands in the world for 4 plus decades. I first saw them 35 years ago and was blown away, saw them again 2 months ago and was blown away again (with several times in between). They never had radio play (they were not safe enough for radio), but they have filled stadiums for decades. Up the Irons!
Like many older metal bands Iron Maiden is now played on radio, but were not played back when their songs were new. Occasionally Run to the Hills would get on, but even that was rare.

I'm sure someone has said it, but Bruce is an enigma. A fencer, a pilot, but known to most as one of the greatest metal singers of all time. I love metal, but I also love Celine Dion, Hank Williams and Usher. I just love a good vocalist. Bruce is truly one of the best live vocalists of modern time. He is up there with Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, Maynard and Roy Orbison. He is just operatic and wonderful.
I love that Jamel appreciates metal not to mention all kinds of other music. He's funny and takes the time to really think about what he's actually hearing and feeling. I was at a Chili Peppers concert and one black beauty in front of me was just thrashing her braids all over the place. I was like, "You go lady!" It was just nice seeing her there with a predominantly white crowd. Music crosses all barriers and brings people together. Black, white, brown, Asian. We need to learn from this.

Best metal band, if not the best band PERIOD in the world. Their concerts are really something else; I've been to a lot of metal concerts, but the energy at a Maiden concert is at a whole different level. I've never seen such incredible crowd participation at any other show. If you ever get the chance to see them before they're too old to play, I highly, HIGHLY recommend it. You'd be surprised how friendly and welcoming the metal community is to new members. If you showed up to a metal concert and told people you were new to the scene and it was your first concert, you'd instantly be welcomed into the family. I mentioned this on your Hallowed reaction, but you absolutely need to check out "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from Maiden's live Flight 666 DVD. It's like a 14 minute song, but it's their masterpiece. Easily their best live performance if you ask me.
I've never been into metal at all. 55 now and was listening to Spotify daily mix while busy in the house. This track came on which was very slow to begin with and I nearly stopped it but let it ride. Since that track I listen to Maiden every day
Iron Maiden... one of the hardest working bands ever! They are a true touring - live band. They give their fans 110% every show - every night. I have been fortunate to see them live 5 times between 1984 when I was 13 and 3 months ago - and have been blown away each time . Fan for life.. Up the Irons bother!
I got to see them live about 3 months or so ago. UN-BELIEVEABLE!! For most of the show I was just standing there with my jaw on the floor. The crowd energy also effects the music. If you ever get a chance to see Iron Maiden live....JUST GO!! You will be a part of a historic lineage of Heavy Metal
My best live experience by far was Iron Maiden at Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg June 2016, 70.000 crowd and a killer show!!! Absolutely blew me away!! Iâve been to Metallica, ACDC, KIZZ, Chilli Peppers and more, but they canât compare to Maiden live! Their showmanship is just amazing, and the way Bruce Dickinson interacts with the crowd...goosebumps just thinking about itđ
Iâve been lucky enough to see Maiden live several times here in the US but I would jump at the chance to go to see them in Rio and be in this middle of this crowd. That would be a whole new experience.
There is a documentary film called Global Metal where they play this song in India for the first time, and the look on Bruce's face as tens of thousands sing the intro is PRICELESS. The entire doc is worth watching, really, as it shines a light on how international metal truly has become. Peace.
I have been to a lot of different shows the past 25+ years of my concert-going years and although I have loved most shows by various artists, I will say that Iron Maiden and Pearl Jam shows are an experience unique to them- both have a crowd involvement, band interaction and there is pure joy. If you get a chance to go see either band, take it, you will not be disappointed and you will meet a lot of great people from all over the world at each show.
Getting old sucks. This music brings out an energy level inside of me that i thought i had lost forever. It's fucking GREAT !! Iron Maiden is a MUST LIVE.
My first Iron Maiden concert story: I was 16. Back in the early 80's, in order to get good seats for concerts, we camped out all night by the record store, in line on the pavement with a lot of other people. Winter in Chicago, so everyone had layers of clothes & coats, sleeping bags, at least one had a boom box, and plenty of weed & alcohol. Anyway, the concert (stadium) sold out super fast, we got tickets, but not the best. They added another show, so we camped out again. Those two nights of Iron Maiden concerts were AMAZING! Totally worth freezing outside the record store twice!
First number i ever heard with Iron Maiden was "woman in uniform" way back in the day. Different singer and drummer back then. but it's all good. i have never stopped listening to their music. And i never will.
saw my first maiden concert in 85' in Los Angeles California .i was 15 and it was the powerslave tour .the show was so awesome we went back the next night and bought scalper tickets.im 51 now and still listen to maiden..."UP THE IRONS"
Lead singer Bruce Dickinson is 61 yrs old and at the time of this concert in January 2001 he was 42 running around like a madman which he still does today one of the best live bands ever
The best live rock/metal act in history, hands down. Maiden is probably one of the most influential and universally cited and acknowledged bands, (by other bands) in metal history, and they did it with no radio air play, no MTV, hardly any media recognition or any awards. They did it by touring, touring, touring and putting on the best live shows possible, night after night. By doing so, they've built probably one of the biggest fan bases of any act in the world. You can go to any country on planet Earth and find people of all ages, sexes and ethnicity wearing Maiden t-shirts. They are *the* case study in how to build a world recognized brand from the grass roots.
Saw 'em on RiR 2019 on october 4. It was just the best moment of my entire life! What and amazing show. I will for sure remember that day for the rest of my life!!!!1
Seeing most Metal bands live first then find the studio verion. The energy is just amazing and they sometimes add lyrics and solos that are amazing.....
Going to an Iron Maiden concert in South America has always been on my bucket list however, after this quarantine is over they will be the first concert I go to.
While listening to this song I got caught somewhere in time, fell into a temporary cosmic rift and was sucked into a parallel universe, only to emerge back on earth for me to realize that, I'm not a number but a free man and I can live my life how I want to!

Thumbs up for Maiden sir!!!!! Best live band ever....so glad I am old enough to have seen them go from an opening act to playing for the largest crowds. If you want to see something interesting watch the documentary Flight 666....Bruce Dickenson has his commercial pilots license. The gutted a 747....painted Eddie on it and set a record for the number of Continents hit by a band....amazing.
I saw Iron Maiden twice live, in 2008 on the Somewhere Back in Time tour and again last year. They played this song for both of them and it's amazing. for a band that's been around since the 70s they're still AMAZING live.
You got it exactly right in the beginning Iron Maiden is EXTREMELY theatrical that is one of the reason why they are so badass! They put so much effort into their storytelling, artwork in the album covers and their live performances(+they are obviously just extremely talented) they truly are, one of the greatest bands of all time!! I recommend you check out Aces High it's about an British RAF pilot in the 1940 Battle of Britain where they fought nazis in the air with spitfire airplanes. + i also would say to listen to the music video version because there is a great speech by Winston Churchill in the beginning!
Cool story: I saw Maiden along with Queensryche and Fight (Rob Halford) in 2000 in California. Maiden opened with the new songs that some fans were not familiar with. Booing began and talking because people didn't recognize the new songs like they did the old songs. Bruce was not having it. He addressed the audience about the issue for a good two to three minutes. In a nutshell his point was: We are a band that has been playing music for over twenty years. We like to make new music over the span of our career. If you expect us to come here and only play the old stuff because it's the only thing you like then tough shit! We're going to keep making new music, expanding our horizons, and deliver kick ass shows for people who come. He ended by saying come on and make some noise and let's all have a great time. He handled the situation with pure class and confidence, and the audience didn't make one bad noise after that. Bruce was firm but respectful, the audience got in line, and it was an awesome show!
@Jamel_AKA_Jamal I've seen Iron Maiden Live 4 times in my life once in NC I forget the city it was either Charlotte, Raleigh, or Greensboro and 3 times outside of Washington DC. This band is unforgettable once you see them in person! Goosebumps man goosebumps! This video comes from the Iron Maiden: Live in Rio DVD. I tell you I've seen Maiden play all over the world (on video of course) and the Central and South American fans are the most jacked up when they attended a concert. Not only do they sing back the lyrics in English, they sing the guitar parts as well. Thanks for another great REACTION video, I recommended you seek out the Maiden documentary Iron Maiden: Flight 666! They do like a 45 day world tour in which they custom design a 747 commercial jet plane in which the lead singer flies the plane all over the world. Its crazy to think Bruce Dickinson flies a 747 jet to a city they're doing a show at and then after the show he gets in the cockpit of the plane and then flies the band 3 to 4 thousands of miles away to the next city!
I believe in an interview, Bruce said Steve Harris, their bassist, is afraid of the dark so he wrote a song about it. Such a silly little concept that this band turned into an EPIC song! The recorded version is great, but thank you so much for reacting to this particular live version. It blows the original recording away.
Was lucky to see them this summer. For a bunch of guys 50+ in age they still have the energy of 20 year olds. Plus they sound just as good as they did in the 80âs. If you ever have a chance to see them live I truly recommend it.
I was 14 years old when I saw them for three first time. I am 47 years old, they are still in my playlist. They held places on my playlist when I was deployed multiple times. They ate not just amazing in their sonic beauty but Bruce Dickinson and the band are true showman. It is amazing. Keep doing your think.
What cracks me up most about your videos, is that these were the conversations my friends had when we were kids watching these bands. Thanks man, thanks.
Just as a side note, this was in 2001, right after Bruce came back to the band. All that energy and they were all of them in their 40's (Nick McBrain, the drummer, was 49!).
One of the best live bands you will EVER see. I've had the pleasure of seeing them a half dozen times since 88. They are definitely a band worth seeing if you ever get the chance. There's talk of Iron Maiden touring soon with Judas Priest. God I hope that happens. My favorite Iron Maiden song is "Can I Play With Madness ". This is another band that you can dive down that rabbit hole lol. P.S....Wait till you see Eddie lmao...
Every single guy in this band is a master of what they do. This is one of the most talented all around bands to ever exist. And they are incredible live. Plus Rio crowds make everything better
Cool fact: They replaced one of their guitarist during their career when he left. When the original guitarist wanted to come back, they didn't kick out his replacement, they just incorporated 3 guitarists in the band. Super classy move.
drowssapma Adrian should never have left but glad he's back with them
Didn't knew about that. That speaks a lot about them.
Thickens up their live sound, too.
Adrian was always a good friend of Bruce's when he left so did Adrian, and formed ASAP, before both returned 2 albums later.

The band opened my eyes to metal! I've seen them 10 times all over the world and I don't regret on plane ticket or trip!
iâve heard this song 10000 times. still got the goosebumps
Yeah us Rockers are crazy for our Metal Bands and Iron Maiden I've seen a dozen times over 30+ years and they just get better with time!
The mist you see above the crowd is the evaporated sweat of houndreds of thousands of people in the cold night air.
Tickets already bought for Maiden next July! UP THE IRONS!
By the time I was 16 I probably saw at least 50 bands because it was affordable and that was our thing!! Memories that I love â€ïž
The energy levels of the fans ALWAYS get high like that when Maiden perform FotD, it's a fan favourite and you just saw why.
Was lucky to see them this summer. For a bunch of guys 50+ in age they still have the energy of 20 year olds. Plus they sound just as good as they did in the 80âs. If you ever have a chance to see them live I truly recommend it.
This show Bruce was 42 but he is 61 and still banging it out!!!
Remember also there's close to 200k people in that stadium here, amazing to see this!
Just as a side note, this was in 2001, right after Bruce came back to the band. All that energy and they were all of them in their 40's (Nick McBrain, the drummer, was 49!).
The greatest band to ever walk on the face of the Earth so be it.
Saw them in Atlanta last summer and as great as ever! With the possible exception of Black Sabbath, the greatest metal band ever!
Every single guy in this band is a master of what they do. This is one of the most talented all around bands to ever exist. And they are incredible live.
Plus Rio crowds make everything better
Up the Irons. These guys rock. Fantastic live. Watch "Moon child" (studio). It'll blow your socks off.
1:37 is what we in the business call "predicting your future."
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Not to mention they usually play a game of soccer before there shows all about health love and ROCK the WORLD âŁïž
I saw them live at Ullevi in 2005...man what an experience!
One of the most iconic metal anthems of all time
One of the BEST live bands of all time
I believe this in rio Brazil 100,000 non English-speaking n they know every word! Goosebumps!
Cuando vino a Argentina fue una locura ya no habĂa nada mĂĄs que cantar despuĂ©s del show que hizo la Ășltima vez
I love watching this guy react to the music I've been listening to all my life. I wish I could have that first experience again.
You seriously need to go see them play live while they're still touring. They are unbelievable live and worth every penny of the ticket price.
