  • All-Ireland winners Paul Murphy and James Skehill joined Will O'Callaghan to review a game for the ages between Cork and Limerick in the Munster Hurling Championship with the Rebels keeping their summer alive with a victory against the reigning All-Ireland champions in a thriller on Leeside.
    The surprises continued in the Leinster Championship, with Carlow earning a draw against their neighbours Kilkenny with a late free from Marty Kavanagh. While Dublin continued their unbeaten start with a comprehensive defeat of Antrim at Parnell Park.
    The Hurling Pod is with thanks to Bord Gais Energy, proud sponsors of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.

    The pitch was invaded because Cork had just won a game that was gone two minutes earlier and because it was against Limerick, it was a scene of pure joy and relief , it was in the moment, it was brilliant, let the players enjoy it , that is what all the training is for , days like that ,

    The Cork v Tipp game in Thurles is another huge game to look forward to, I’m wondering will Cork have anything left in the tank the way they had to empty it to beat Limerick.

    Great win for the Dublin U20s. Gave Galway a nice beating. Not to worry Skehill boy there's always next year.

    Great effort from cork fair play to them.They didn't fold right at the end. Well done a pity.Such a great game wasn't seen by more people shame on R.T.E.. Limerick will be back. The family's invading the pitch was a little bit embarrassing.But they had just beat the greatest hurling team ever.So I suppose we must forgive them.

    As a listener in California, I would ask that they try to focus more on this "farming" thing. Bad enough that they cut the Father Ted segments.

    As Corkman, that rule needs to go, its away too subjective, the rule needs to be clear and obvious goal chance

    Is Skehill worried about Galway in the next few years. U20s have been very disappointing the last few years and the last night was very worrying v Dublin. 5 minor all Irelands in 6 years, got a good few out of 2015 crew but the 4 in a row has proven very disappointing. 2011 was the last time I felt this worried but at least then it was just the seniors underperforming or not being good enough that was the worry. This year it’s been nearly the whole lot.

    Amazing game management by Limerick to kill the speed of the game and take control. They smothered Cork for 20 mins and played the game on their terms at that stage. Cork were out of options and ideas as the game ended but got really lucky. If Limerick put 70 mins of that controlled game together, God help everyone

    The penalty aside, there were lots of examples of forwards running down the middle being brought to ground before a goal scoring opportunity arose

    Genuine question from a Limerick fan, where does the zone for penalty /free start and end? It’s completely arbitrary. On the night given the circumstances no one really complained but if it was to decide All Ireland you’d be furious.

    Why didn't the umpires heve a word with the ref about kian lynch's Jersey being constantly pulled, oh wait, the umpires were cork men.

    • @dublinsfaircity
      @dublinsfaircity Před 24 dny +2

      Jersey pulling rarely gets called out by referees or umpires. Whether it's Cian Lynch or not. Happens loads of times in every game.

    • @user-eq1fc3dg9o
      @user-eq1fc3dg9o Před 23 dny +3

      LOL. The umpires were from Dublin and Lynch was playing out the filed, not standing in the square all the time.James Owens gave Limerick 3 goals last year in Gaelic Grounds v Cork, none of which should have stood.

    What does Skehill and snooker player Dave Gilbert have in common? Gilbert's nickname is the 'Angry Farmer'. Pretty apt for you too lad 😄

      @dublinsfaircity Před 24 dny +1

      @@Castlelong333 Yea if they beat Waterford and you'd have to think they would at home it all deoends on who they will meet in a Munster final. Probably Clare again that would be tasty. If Limericks hunger and desire drops even 5% they're in trouble. Throw in Casey's injury and other players with niggles and the savage pressure that going for 5 in a row will bring it's going to be tough for them to get it done.
