  • All-Ireland winners Paul Murphy and James Skehill joined Will O'Callaghan to discuss the penultimate. weekend of games in the Munster and Leinster Senior Hurling Championships.
Cork hammered their neighbours Tipperary by 18-points on a day described as a 'dark day for Tipp hurling' by their manager Liam Cahill, as the Premier crashed out of the Championship. Davy Fitzgerald fumed at the decision to award a 65m, which was pointed by. Mark Rodgers, in Waterford's loss to Clare in Ennis.
Foiur teams can still qualify in Leinster, but will Dublin feel they left a golden chance to beat Kilkenny behind them at Parnell Park?
The Hurling Pod is with thanks to Bord Gais Energy, proud sponsors of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.

As a ref we NEVER criticize a team/players for losing by a point or a goal when that team kicks/pucks 16-20 wides throughout the same game.
Criticize the officials for 1 potential error but don't criticize your entire forward line for the 16-20 misses they made throughout the game?

Great show, I enjoy Skehill's analysis in particular. Can you ask him if he ever looks to sports outside of the GAA for ideas about tactics etc.?

In 1959 Dublin were beating Kilkenny near the end of the Leinster final when Johnny McGovern took a sideline cut which was doubled to the net by Sean Clohosey as it dropped near the square The Final score was Kilkenny 2-9 to !-11 for Dublin. Liam Burke

Is there an inconsistency creeping in again with the black card penalty rule? Argument that our one against Cork in Walsh Park wasn't one as Prendergast lost control of the ball, then looking at Tipp Cork yesterday imo Tipp were robbed of one in the first half and Cork defender got a yellow card instead - if this isn't clamped down on we may see a huge decision in a big game go against a team and be costly.
What do ye think? Could it become a big problem if it isn't policed consistently across all games?

Fair play to you Murph i had to laugh when you said you could change the pod to The Hurling & Farming Show. So in preperation for this possible seismic change here's a few farming analogys from the weekends action. This is the best i could do as a city slicker.
1 Eoin Codys last gasp goal in Parnell was a real HAYmaker
2 Little Davy acting the BULLocks in Ennis for the umpteenth time.
3 Cork fans were MILKING it on the Semple sod after their destruction of Tipperary
4 After Tipp's humilation Liam Cahill may be PLOUGHING a lone furrow going forward
5 The SCALLION EATERS were devoured by the STRAWBERRY sellers.
P.S I was enjoying a nice chinese meal last night and something brought my mind back to last weeks huge win for Dublin U20s over Galway. I remembrr the Dublin players celebrations were so SWEET while Skehill and his defeated troops looked very SOUR.
Great show as always lads. Look forward to the rest of the hurling sesson.

Tipp were an embarrassment yesterday.yes we don’t have replacements for great players from past decade or so but even you would expect some bit of something.
Fair play to Skehill for saying we wouldn’t get out of Munster so early in the yr.
No pride,no passion,no support.sad to walk into the stadium and have flashbacks to that Munster/Leinster semi final in 2006.red jerseys everywhere including our own end at the killinan end.

Well lads, curios to know your opinions on the advantage rule? It’s a rule I’ve had major issue with for years but rarely hear anyone opposing it. In my opinion once a shot has been taken your advantage has been used (providing the attacking player had a genuine advantage). I’m sick of players shooting and missing under minimal pressure and still getting their free because of the advantage rule. I was in Ennis shouting for the banner on Sunday and remembered actually wishing a Bennet point over the bar to save the game being called back for a handy free that would have resulted in a point anyway. The advantage is used far better is soccer. If you use your advantage and make a mess of it you don’t get a second bite of the cherry. Up the banner

I agree with a lot of what ye said regarding Clare match. But c’mon lads a 65 is a 65. Like at a minimum it should be on the line. And the 65 the same umpires missed when Quilligan literally threw himself at it to block it early in the first half. Literally dived across his goal in the air and got an obvious block on it. It’s not easy to be an official but you really have to make sure you get the obvious stuff right.

Waterford really badly blagared should have had a blatant 65 in the first few minutes and then a guess of a 65 dosent matter if it turned out to be right decision it was a guess and it should have been a puckout if that match finished a draw cork in my opinion where goosed.

Answer me this mr loutony. If the 65 had been called as a wide, Would the outrage not be 10 times stronger than is now felt in waterford. Who has been blaguarded when the right call has been made?

Without footage it’s difficult for us to talk at length about a game. We did when we were able to watch Wexford v Galway a couple of weeks ago. And we’ve been consistently calling for more tv or streaming of Leinster games. I’d say we talk more about Leinster than most other media.
