    I’m surprised there isn’t more of this on CZcams. I have the same set up and it’s awesome.
    AC10 thru a Marshall quad, killer all round!!!
    I’m actually thinking of making the combo into a head permanently. I never use the stock speaker now haha!!!
    Nice work, thanks for the vid.

    I have two AC10's running stereo. I have thought many times about getting some 12 inch speaker cabs and utilize the speaker out option. This video convinces me I am on the right track.

      The sound with 12" speakers is huge especially if you have 212 or 412.
      I just uploaded a short video with my Marshall studio vintage combo running with 212. The sound is sooooo much better!

      I really like the sound of two 10" speakers in different amps, but would suggest a greenback, or better still - a cream back to replace the cheap stock speaker, which doesn't bad but could sound better.

    I did a little micro Orange through a 4X12 and got some outstanding tone for a while. Right now I am looking for a snikky little NT10 box or something, see if it will hold a EVM10M and I can use one of my V125s or something else that drives 8 Ohms. I remember when the Boogie first came around, now all of the youngsters who grew up on Neodymium are ripe for some Sport. 😎

    Can you make a video on how you connected the vox to the external cabinet?

    • @yoctanuri
      @yoctanuri  Před 3 lety +15

      Don't really need to.. just plug a speaker cable from the rear side of the amp where it says "external speaker" into you cab. Just make sure your cab is 16 ohms. Once you do that, the internal combo's speaker is disconnected from the circuit. By plugging out the speaker cable, it goes back to work as a combo with the internal speaker.
      Good luck.

    i almost like the small cab sound better recorded , sounds closer to the original classic recordings were they used small amps , sounds great with the 4x12 just prefer the original a little more recorded at least , in the room might be different , great tasteful playing by the way ..

      By yourself the 4x12 is more low end and full. But in a mix the smaller will cut better and the bass isn’t wanted in a band mix usually. You’ve got a nice tone with that amp!

    I want a loud practice amp, torn between this and the Bassbreaker 007. I want to be able to play Hard Rock or almost metal style tones, but can the AC10 do that? It seems like it can only get that classic rock style overdrive.

    So, I’m about to purchase this amp but completely naïve to this setup. Does adding the 4x12 (or even a 2x12) make this gigable? Even if just as a suitable monitor for myself and miced through PA. How much of a volume increase do the added speakers give you?

    • @yoctanuri
      @yoctanuri  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi. You will be amazed to know how much volume you'll get when plugging this amp to a 412... If you want to get the clean sound only, then maybe not as much volume. But soon as you start to crank this puppy... You can even gig with this setup without micing...
      I will recommend trying it out before if it's possible.. just make sure that your 412 or 212 is a 16 Ohm cabinet, because that's the only option you have..

    The AC10 sounds great plugged into anything but that terrible speaker that comes with it. For the $ it makes more sense to get a real amp and that would be the AC15. Stinks the AC10 isnt as well designed, leaves a lot to be desired and as i said for the $ it makes more sense to save up and get a AC15 for not much more $. Especially on the used market, you can get a AC15 for pretty little these days. Just dont get one with the wharfdale speaker ;-). I watched a few videos where they go over the circuit and there so much in the way of the that the real tone of that amp is hidden. If ya took out the reverb circuit and changed the speaker and tubes and changes some of the resistors and caps, you would hear a 10watt AC15. But as it is its not even close to an AC15 and that is a shame. I would love to own one of these, but theres too much wrong with it for what I do and tone is subjective so what I dont like others may love.
    Cool video :-)

      Oh yeah and this video reminds me of what I was messing with the other day, i was trying different cabs with my blues jr and its the same thing. When plugged into an ext cab its like WHOA! this amp can sound this good and full. ;-)

    • @yoctanuri
      @yoctanuri  Před 2 lety

      I agree with what you said.. although, for a practice amp and for living room gigs I think it's pretty good. Advantages are: it's light weight, great overdrive/distortion (with humbuckers..)
      In my amp, I swapped all the tubes to nos tubes.. (mullard for the preamp, Polam (Polish tubes) for the power tubes. In my opinion, it sounds fantastic. Connecting it to a celestion blue is a different league... (I own one so I can tell you that to me it's heaven ☺️)
      The AC15 is good, but heavy for its size (for me...)
      BUT, my go to amp for a gigs is my fender 5E3 (Tweed deluxe) with alnico blue...

      @@yoctanuri Im actually building a 5E3 and a 5F1 right now. haha. I like the Blues those are nice speakers, I also like the vintage 30 in Vox amps and you dont see that speaker in many Vox stock at all. I recently finished modding my Blues Jr, that thing after mods is a beast compared to it stock and ive run it thru quite a few speaker cabs and its awesome. I was surprised it sounded good thru JBL e-120s ;-)

      I love this ac10 it kicks so much ass, i run it into a mesa 212 recto and its amazing,
      A tube swap is ideal, the stock speaker isnt that bad, and ive tested its balls in rehearsal many times, it gets decently louder with an ext cab and with v30s its glorious in tone.
      I recently rehearsed with an Ac30 and it was killer, even being clueless on the added eq i dialed it in pretty quick and made me realize i need something with more balls to compliment this speaker the way the ac 10 does.
      Currently scouting ac15 heads and sovtek 🤘
      Yours is probably the most accurate review ive seen since owning this amp for 5 years
