  • Nick puts two popular small valve (or tube) amplifiers side by side. In this video its the super popular VOX AC10 vs the brand new FENDER VIBROCHAMP. The Vox has been one of our most popular items for several years thanks to its small size, digital reverb and great price tag. The Fender VibroChamp is a new entry to this space and brings the classic Fender tone in a small package. Which sounds better??

    I like Vox's reverb more, there's more clarity there. Can't wait to get an AC10!

    The vox is killer. I was really thinking about getting a vibro champ. I grew up playing through a vox so i wanted to try something new. Changed my mind. LOL

    I bought the Vox with high hopes and ended up returning it. It was noisy and too loud for recording in my apartment. I got the Vibro Champ Reverb and am thrilled with it. It was a much better choice for my needs. Thanks for this excellent vid.

    Damn, they are both pretty damn sweet sounding. I think I might prefer the vox but there was some good tones coming out of the champ aswell. The master on the vox is very useful and the price is quite abit cheaper. Nice playing 👍

    I have this Vox. It will play clean jazz with colorful round notes, rockabilly, blues, Surf, Spaghetti Western, and even AC/DC style hard rock, without a single pedal, becase of that gain control. I do recomend using a tranparent overdrive, for buttery hard blues and rock. A DEL-VERB peddle for delay, because is also has a realistic spring reverb. The amp's reverb is a little weird. I keep the reverb below two. That little amp sounds great with a mic, and in a recording.

      How does the AC10C1 stack up against the Fender Blues Jr or the Pro Jr?

  • @rjmprod
    @rjmprod Před 10 měsíci

    I found them to be incredibly different in sound, and depending on what you’re playing each one of them sounds good for a particular mood…! Rocks sounds thin and has a bit of pie and distortion at clean levels. Where is the fender clean, is clean and sounds more balanced and thick. I suspect the box would be better for recording because of how it would sit in a mix in the fender would be good or better for live playing.

    Both great and both do certain things better than the other. Price wise thought it's hard to beat the Ac10. You can get the Ac15 which has tremolo as well and a better speaker for less than the champ.

  • @DMSProduktions

    Quite interesting. The Fender sounded boring clean, while the Vox was bright & lively, albeit more scooped!
    BUT, once you started getting them distorted, the Fender came alive, and the Vox sounded like a cheese grater!
    So I'd go Vox for cleans, Fender for crunchy tones! Nice 1 Nicko! \m/

      I’ve owned both. The Champ is ‘better’ (it’s twice the price) but the speaker is really sterile. I just didn’t feel it was worth the money, so I bought the Vox which is just insanely loud. It’s also noticeably cheaper sounding than the Fender ( the fizziness at 8.33)I might get the Vibro again and change the speaker. Hence I’m here commenting!

    I have both. They are both excellent.
    If you only have room for 1, the master volume in the Vox makes it the winner. It’s also BLAZING loud and is more useful at rehearsal.
    I don’t think the Champ could cut it with a live drummer unless you want that specific driven Fender tone when the amp volume is at 7 or 8.
