Ofc you can. You can even make them in a frying pan
You can! You just need to use a bit of aluminum foil. I did it while camping a couple years ago. Quick tip: if you try it, flatten the dough first so it bakes more evenly. Hope this helps. 💙🍀💜
In simplicity, yes, it's common knowledge to use a baking tray as you would a normal oven, there's really no difference to it at all

Citrus essential oils are not expensive here in France. They use leamon peel for cold mechanical oil extraction and keep the rest for other uses like pure juice sold in bottles in supermarket.
I hope Kevin and Grace don’t replace Nate and Kalle.

As somone who works in a laboratory and did this as an intern some years ago I have some idea's to inprove your results. One thing you might look into is what is called a clevenger apparatus.
that little return tube from the catcher actually functions as a clevenger apparatus, it seems to me they just found some blueprints online en decided to copy it without knowing what they were doing really. Also lemon oil extract isn't teal :S.
@@ricoty Yes you are right, but a clevenger apparatus has a smaler tube to colect the oil. That makes it more easy to see the layers of oil and water. Also dried herbs work better.

Lemon Balm and Lemongrass oil is sold HEAVILY as an organic pesticide for organic crop growers. (bugs dont like lemon oils!)

Grackles use their beaks to poke holes into the rinds of my citrus fruit to get a ĺittle oil and smear it in their feathers to ward off mites. Orange 0il at 2 oz. per gal of water is a recommended spray for mites.
I really like that they showed how it failed at first. It just gave the video a feeling of authenticity. Also really like Graces energy. It's just so fun to watch ☺️

lavender and sage of course, I loved that you put the hobby side of the science into the video. Always remember that it is exploration and without trial and error, we would never accomplish.
Sage for sure. I use the leaves in sausage seasoning and they are quite variable in strength. The oil is what I need.

I have been to a lavender oil factory in Suffolk UK, you need a really large amount of lavender to be able to get a measurable amount of oil. They use tonnes.
Now if you want make some perfume from garlic, I want to buy it just to repel my ex.

Lemon and Mint go together superbly. The plant you mistook for Lavender looked very much like a medicinal herb called 'Betony' (Stachys officianalis) to me. It would have been possible to extract the oil from this, too.

For all citrus, a cold mechanical pression extraction is by far better than distillation. You will get more essential oil and easier.

Essential oil yields are typically around 1% by mass. To see an oil layer in that narrow tube you would need to distill at least 5 pounds of product.

Edit 4:27. oh. Yeah, Grace grabbed a butterfly plant. They look a lot like lavender, and bees love it just as much as lavender, but it basically just smells like flowers. Very easy mistake to make, and I only know cause we have both the butterfly bush and a lavender bush in my backyard!

I have this big/proper/professional chemistry set and one of the things I've most wanted to do with it is make essential oils. This is making me want to do it even more. I've played around with it a little and got a few drops of some kind of oil (I can't even remember - maybe pine) but a big problem is keeping the heat trapped and keeping the cold water cold.
The plants you mistook for Lavender are Salvia (Sage).

8:05... oil and water will mix, or emulsify. It's actually the dissolved air in the water that causes oil and water to separate. When put under a deep vacuum, and all the air is removed from the water, it will mix nicely.
Given time, the only reason they will separate, is because oil is less dense, and will sit on top of the water.
So why is it that the dissolved air is the reason oil doesn't mix with water? We don't know yet.
