Would love to see this new truck in some long distance videos. Love what you're doing! You influenced heavily the truck I ended up buying!

    It’s obviously a nice truck. And for $80k plus it should be. One thing no one is talking about is reliability. I have a 2024 3500 Duramax and it has oil leaking from the oil cooler, power steering gear box leaking power steering fluid. Even the headlight went out. All this in less than 500 miles. All parts are back ordered and GM customer service does almost nothing while the truck sits at the dealer.

    I will say that my 2021 has been off-road for multiple days, never getting above 45mph and no issues with the dpf. The system will give you a notification to drive but never seen it. I did have an issue where I parked at a crazy angle on the Lake bank and go to leave and the low def light came on, along with check engine. But after a few miles of driving went back to normal.

    The ring gear size has nothing to do with it being sluggish, a 3.42 gear ratio is 3.42 regardless if the ring gear is 2" or 20" 😉

    • @michaelthayer6995
      @michaelthayer6995 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hey icehog, I may be wrong and I’m sure someone will correct me but I think he’s referring to 12 inch ring gears get full diesel torque off the line and 11.5s get reduced torque in 1st gear. Please chime in if you know for sure.

    • @icehog2367
      @icehog2367 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@michaelthayer6995 Yes, that's what he's saying, but no that's not accurate. The gear ratio is 3.42 regardless of the ring gear diameter. The advantage of a larger diameter ring gear is durability, it allows for more substantial tooth size, has nothing to do with torque output.

      The 24 3500’s have torque management too for some reason. Way sluggish compared to my old 22 3500 srw duramax. The 2500’s were supposed to have torque management because of the 11.5” ring gear. The 3500 with the 12” is not supposed to. I’m guessing there is either a problem with the programming on some 24’s or they increased torque management on 3500’s as well to reduce warranty claims.

    I had reserved the Chevy 2500 ZR2 with Duramax. Truck arrived at dealer & took a quick test drive. I expected a slightly rougher ride than Raptor or TRX due to 3/4 ton suspension, but figured the 35” tires & DSSV shocks would compensate, at least a little. Nope, nope, nope. The highway ride at 70MPH was STIFF! On a newly paved highway, the expansion joints caused enough impact shock through the cabin that I could not speak without sounding like I was jumping rope.
    And, GM quality…definitely not job#1. The left rear door did not fit right. I’m sure some of you will say, “Well, the dealer or any body shop can adjust it.” Well, I took delivery of an early-build, brand-new C7 Z06. Driver door fitment was crap. Top of the door at the hinge pillar stood proud of the fender 1/2”. Turns out there was no adjustment…the door frame was molded incorrectly & had to be replaced. Yeah, brand new, $80K car that needed a new door & paint…and, mine had the better fitment of the two Z06s received by that dealer!
    Needless to say, I got my deposit back for the HD ZR2. If you are considering the HD ZR2 or AT4X, the Duramax is a GEM! Beyond that, you better need the towing capability of an HD truck & are willing to accept a harsh unladen highway ride, or you are wasting your money.

    JB I have a 2024 3500 srw duramax Denali ultimate and the sluggishness/pedal lag you feel is in my truck too. From a stop, floor the pedal, feather the pedal, it doesn’t matter. It’s not until you hit 15mph or about 1800 rpm the power kicks in. You have to anticipate the power kicking in to the point you let off the pedal otherwise you’ll have a massive surge. I’m guessing yours is identical. I had a 22 3500 srw and never had this sluggishness. I kind of don’t want my truck anymore because it doesn’t respond. I’m pretty sure the programming has something wrong with it. Others are having the issue too. I hope GM figures out what’s wrong. Keep us in the loop on what you find out. Oh my truck has just under 5K miles on it. It’s not a break in issue.
