    No joke, my 3500 literally had a bent frame from the factory. You could measure roughly an inch or more of twist from one side to the other. Amazingly, that was "within factory spec", according to a service advisor. Never mind the fact that the passenger side door and bed would not close without rubbing, literally metal to metal, and never mind the fact the that tires would wear out after 12,000 miles. It was as if the truck had been in an accident and was poorly repaired, but nope. The truck was brand new, had less than 10 miles on the ODO when I drove it home, and there was no signs the thing had ever had repairs, or like the dealer might've tried to cover something up. That's just how it was from new.
    What's most shocking is that wasn't even the worst of it. The truck ultimately ended being bought back under lemon law for an unidentified problem with the braking system. The truck wasted months, going back and forth for repairs. It was a nightmare. That was the first AND LAST GM product for me.

    JB lower the tire pressure to 52-54 front and 46-48 in the rear. It will make a drastic difference. The Duratracs are loud and more so if you keep max pressure they will wear uneven and make a ton of noise. Get the falkin Wild peak AT3 or 4s coming out. It is still aggressive enough but I have found to be the quietest next to the BFG's.

    In addition to the wild dealer markups at the time, I noticed the transmission surging sensation on a test drive of a Denali Ultimate, which both caused me to back out of the deal. The truck was otherwise sweet! Yes, those Territory MTs are loud, but it is strange how tire compound of the same tire design can change noise levels. The TRX uses a Territory tire as well and noise is next to non-existent(maybe the Hellcat drowned it out😂). It is also sad to read about the quality lapses, but that has been the game since 2020+ at most manufacturers. Not even Toyota is immune.

    Been a sub since first gen Godzilla fseries (when ya didn't show that handsome smile. Lol) but what the shifting issue sounds like is the "hunting" effects of the 10spd hunting for proper gear at current speed at the moment. Example: when part throttling through gears under slight acceleration, they stack gears up onya cuz the "economic" reading of pcm . (Likely the cause) and hence when "tow haul mode is engaged" it holds gears (lower/longer, in powerband)

    I got a 2024 AT4 3500 in November and the outside b pillars didn't match. One side was glossy and the other side was the cheaper textured plastic.
    i can't believe QC didn't catch that. Had to take it back to the dealer to get the textured swapped out for the glossed trim under warranty. In a way i'm starting to feel like they are building as many as they can and allowing warranty to pick up what they would've fixed at the factory. Also, i do get a bit of hesitation when I step on it from about 40 mph. Not sure if that's the same thing as you.

    I’ve had an 18,20,22,and now a 2024 Denali hd 3500 and every single one of these L5ps has had turbo surge very bad. If I’m going up a slight grade in about 7-8th right in the verge of a downshift when you can feel the truck bogging in low rpm the truck will just stumble on itself. I’ve tuned a few and change after market turbos nothing worked. The 2024 is much better with some of the newer designs but still does it especially now I have the 35s on it. Also same issues as previous models. Back sliding glass leaks, door panels all had bubbles under the wood inlays, I had to align the truck the first day it steered so hard left, and when I picked up the 24 I had to pdr the whole bed because they miss stamped the body line looked like someone threw a baseball at my truck.

Day one off the lot his auto start would not work right. Kept doing that off and on a week or more. Into the dealer 5 times, turns out the damn wiring harness wasn't hooked right and there were a hand full of wires loose. $76k and they want more money to assemble trucks and cars. Come on really? Simple things before you start demanding more money.

  • @matthewanderson9912
    @matthewanderson9912 Před 4 měsíci +1

    So my initial thought on this transmission thing is that 10th gear is probably just too tall for the speed you are traveling. I would bet you’re in 10th gear at 40 mph with the diesel too. The gas truck probably not that’s why you never noticed it. So that “stumble” is the same thing you would feel in a manual transmission vehicle when you’re in too high a gear for the speed under light acceleration.
    The reason I say this is because in tow/haul mode you don’t notice it and every GM truck I’ve had when you go to tow/haul mode it essentially locks out the top gear. And I wonder in the 10 speed if it’s not locking out 9th and 10th since they are so close. I don’t remember on my diesel what it did.
    So that would explain why it doesn’t do it in tow/haul mode, because you’re in potentially 8th gear or maybe 9th which are “slightly” shorter gears than 10th.
    Maybe a TCM reflash will help and just make the truck shift to 9th in those situations but I’d say you’re fixing to go down a rabbit hole here and you’re going to either hear “can’t duplicate the problem” OR they are going to throw parts at based off current TSBs.
    *edit* also the ZR2/AT4 does have 35” tires as compared to 33” or 34” for all the other trucks. So 1” does make the final drive gear ratios taller for all gears. That would also explain why you never noticed it in the 2023 AT4. I know you had 37s on your dually but at 40 mph it probably shifted to 8th or 9th anyway.

    My trans kinda does the same thing, but at lower speeds while in traffic. If I'm costing at like 5 or 10 mph and I give it some gas, it jumps/stumbles is a good name for it. For the money and GMC stand on being a luxury brand the build quality is poor. Look into the banks products to fix your trans issue.

      Fuel savings are more noticeable while towing. Or just highway speeds. But with modern transmissions yeah that gap is getting narrower and narrower. Not worth it unless you’re towing heavy, often, or long distances.

    The uaw does not set the price for the vehicle. The company is responsible for that. The company also sets the standard for quality. Believe me if it was up to us employees the company would be shipping perfect vehicles and losing money. There is only so much that we can do to resist the companies specs. Intermittent conditions like your mirror has no connection to the factory it's a vendor part. You cannot see this connection when assembly of the door is done. So let up on the people assembling the vehicles and push back on the company for accepting crappy specs.

But I don’t blame the uaw worker for the problems I blame the engineers that designed the systems on these trucks.
