Johnny Depp has revealed how his input changed the original version of the Jack Sparrow character in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. 'The character of Captain Jack was more like a swashbuckler type that would swing in shirtless and be the hero. I had quite different ideas about the character, so I incorporated my notes into the character and brought that character to life. Much to the chagrin of Disney, initially.'

What I found interesting was his explanation of why he (Jack) always wobbled when he was on land because he had 'sea legs' for most of his life on the open sea and every time he was on land he would wobble.
There were no objections during this! Everybody wanted to hear about the Captain's origins under oath

I love how he doesn’t address him as “Jack” or “Jack Sparrow” he knows the character so well he instinctively says “Captain Jack Sparrow”.

It's sad. You can tell he genuinely loved playing captain jack. Like that was gonna be the one character that made him a legend for years to come. Not that he isn't now, but I feel that's they way he feels. A genuine love for that character and pain for it being robbed from him.
This is a true artist talking about his craft. Amber is simply somone who wants to be famous and loves the attention.

The way he talks about the character of Jack Sparrow and his approach makes me realize that the series really paved the way for the kind of tone the Marvel franchise would later adopt. Pretty interesting to think about actually
Captain Jack Sparrow walking from his sinking ship right on to the docks was certainly very cartoony. I can see the inspiration.

Johnny is the modern day Marlon Brando. An acting genious, I hope he gets out of this well, and that we see him soon in new movies!
