I get Harry’s point about Rice being press resistance. But one thing I have notice with the last season unlike partey first two seasons. Is that because of the introduction of zinchenko he is not required as much to break the press and progress the play. The work as a tandem to and zinchenko is normally the one breaking the press and partey more reserved. So that role has changed some what.

Wouldn’t mind getting Arda Guler for a bargain! Even if we loan him out for the season while we see how Viera gets on in the coming season. From what I’ve seen I think he looks better than Viera already, but id give him one more season see where he’s at with a proper pre season behind him.

The players that Arsenal has signed from City are not rejects. City still wanted them. Cancelo is not a City reject either. He was their player of the season before he fell out with the coach. If we sold ESR to a team, he would not be a reject. Same with Tierney. It is Pepe that would be a reject because we do not need or want him.
Last season the kind opening fixtures schedule helped us a lot! Hopefully the same but playing city little bit earlier!

I feel like we're not being honest with ourselves about this Rice transfer and patting ourselves on the back a bit too much. Yeah we've improved a lot recently so we become a good choice for him, but we win by default. He wants to stay in London. If Chelsea finished top 4 which they do 9 times out of ten he would've gone there. Just my thoughts.
That’s generally how it works tho isn’t it. You have to make yourself attractive for other players to want to join you. Chelsea haven’t just attracted players because of their success, but also they are a club that is consistently willing to pay over the odds for players which means the haggling time is less and the deal is done before other clubs come in. That’s similar to what we are doing with Rice.
