  • In this video I review the new Sidewinder hunting saddle from Custom Gear Modifications. This saddle is only $175 and yet is PACKED with well thought out and functional features. It has an oplux bridge with amsteel prussiks on either side for adjustment of the bridge length and position on the bridge loops, a fully adjustable amsteel belt, ridged lineman's loops that stay open, rappel loops, stiff upper main saddle webbing, removable leg loops, and the saddle is collapsible for a 5" profile while walking in. You can purchase the Sidewinder and the Drop Out Bag from CGM at www.customgearmodifications.com/

Met Jerry over the weekend at an Expo and he camped at the campground that I camp at. Got to pick his brain alot and ended up ordering a saddle from him Monday when he got back home

I put my order in last night. This will be my first saddle and your videos have been very helpful for suggestions. I’m trying to find the best products for the best price. Now I just need to find a platform, thinking about picking up the XOP when it comes out.

Awesome review! I tried one of these on yesterday. Needless to say, I ordered the saddle from Jerry the same day. The saddle felt great! I was really impressed with Custom Gear Modifications customer service. I had some questions before I ordered, as this will be my first saddle, and the team over at CGM was super quick to respond and very helpful. Great saddle and company! I highly recommend CGM.

Found your channel last night and have binged watched probably 10 videos, your channel is going to grow with this quality offering!
Could you do a video showing your tether setup? Is that oplux with a Kong?
I would also recommend putting links to ALL gear used in each demo video.... Ropes, carabiner(s), etc.., along with video links to things such as tether and lineman belt setups if applicable.
Thanks for the great videos your now my favorite "saddle review" guy!

Awesome job as usual, Spencer! I'm curious if you've been giving the Cobra a workout and what your initial impressions are?

Without putting you on the spot, I've seen your CRIUZR XC review. Does the Sidewinder have enough features and quality to give it an edge or "equal to" the CRUZR XC. Thanks.

I’d love to see you a do a review of CGM’s new Cobra saddle. Any future plans for doing a review on that saddle?

Do you have any experience with the aero hunter kite? Is yes can you offer a quick comparison in terms of mesh coverage and comfort?

I'm wanting to use my hang on stands in the winter time where I don't have as much cover as in the early season. I like being able to keep my saddle system working for me as it's an integral part of my climbing and safety system. However, my current saddle probably won't work very well for sitting in a hang on. It may have been you, in one of your videos, commenting that a particular saddle would be good for a hybrid saddle for the scenario I am describing. If you recall that, can you please remind me what saddle you were talking about? If not, could you make a recommendation? I'm thinking that the Sidewinder might be the ticket. It folds up nicely so I won't be sitting on it when sitting on the hang on stand and I can still use it to climb and descend and perhaps even to work around a tree to make a shot while using the lock on as a platform. Thanks in advance for your help. Sure enjoy your videos.

I’d love to see some two tether climbing videos, that’s the way I’m hunting and no body does any good videos of it (2TC)

Does the amsteel waist strap create a pressure point bc it’s thinner than the webbing?

Ok, so if you had to choose 1 between this and the Cruzr XC which one would you go with ?

I'm watching this as I wait on their new saddle, the Cobra, to be shipped to me. The Cobra should blow this one out of the water with only a little bit more cost.

The Renegade or Amazon brand saddles are basically your choices, then. But the Renegade is not very comfortable
