    Malleate? Now there's a $5 word! Ha!....Appreciate your mastery of the English language. Good points on the benefits of 76 keys. I started keyboard on a 61-Key Casio. I can speak from personal experience, the adjustments that my piano teacher had to make on pieces that I worked on, that really needed more keys. Taking lessons on a acoustic piano was quite an awaking too, coming from a non-weighted action keyboard. I'm looking forward to a newer version of this Keyboard. I'm hoping to see a PSR-E473 in the near future. And welcome back Jeremy from your hiatus, missed your reviews and updates.

    I have my ew410 and I'm pleased for the price. It's not as good sounding as my P125 but it's more portable and occupies less space in my small room.
    It's not comparable with the PSR-S series: the drums, guitars, and style tracks sound so fake on EW, the key action feels "thumpy" and not as smooth (i can't quite describe it, but it's obvious when side by side) but overall still a very good instrument for tight budget.

  • @Zoco101

    Jeremy is absolutely right about the forte piano issue. Even piano fortes were not always the 88-note behemoths we know of today. Beethoven is said to have done much of his composing at a much shorter piano. Yes, I know, good composers compose largely in their heads anyway, but a keyboard becomes necessary at some point, even if you are Mozart.
    The other night I was at yet another venue where an 88-note would have been a problem spacewise. Fortunately, the pianist had his CP-73. Hurrah for 73/76 note keyboards!
    Despite all this positivism, I have to say the Moonlight Sonata doesn't really work with a spring action. Jeremy almost makes it work because he's so good.

      The piano sound of this keyboard is excellent, way better than the E463 which has only 61 keys. I plays and compare the sound to my Yamaha U1 (acoustic) piano, and both sound close. Of course, the acoustic piano sounds more vibrant. The good thing is the EW410 is portable, I bring it to places that do not have a good acoustic piano.

    Thanks again. It would be great to do a PSR-EW410 vs Kurzweil KP-300X video... The Kurzy is close in sound (737) and style (240) counts, but is more expensive and lacks L&R outputs for some reason. It wins on 4 speakers/40 watts though. Who has the better action?

Do they have clearance prices on models phasing out when they do? Trying to decide if it would be good to see what the new model might do! Thanks, Paul

    I really have no use for 76-key boards. I need C1. I have a Korg Krome EX 73-key board which goes from C1 to C7. I use the VI Labs Ravenscroft 275 and True Keys German VSTs for great grand piano sounds. With 76-keys, I'm continually reaching for C1. Very disappointing when it's not there.

I'm not inclined towards a midi keyboard right away as i intend to practice without a computer. Is the EW410 a good choice for my use case? Or do you recommend any other keyboard model for this purpose? Kindly could you let me know.

  • @jjacob25101
    @jjacob25101 Před 2 lety +4

    That's a nice keyboard, for something that came out on 2018.
    The 76 keys is a sweet spot if not limited to space, and don't want to get an 88 key, but need more range than 61 notes.
    Unless I was a professional jazz player, played like Yohan Kim or traditional.piano player, I could do with the 76 keys, instead of 88.
    But of course, a weighted 88 keys is nice to have, and the RD 88 would be my first choice. I like the Alesis, but the upcoming updated Casio 88, the upper the S3100 would be the most prsctical choice for the price snd features.
    But the only 76 key keyboard I really like is the latest Roland Fantom 7 because though it is expensive, big and heavy, it is the do all keyboard, and way more than I need, but the Fantom 6/7 has a new keyboard action I haven't been able to try, Roland claimed was innovative and better than any other non weighted keyboard action. What would be an ideal for me is to have a 76 key version of the RD 88 with the 76 key action from the Fantom 7. The RD 88 supposedly is pretty light for a fully weighted 88, so the 76 key with the action mentioned would be lighter.
    Or if Casio came out with a hybrid of the CT-S1 and the S3100 with 76 keys, the pitchbend wheel, and 600 voice tones like CT-S400 and existing CT-S1 set, and the pro connections and features the CT-S1 should have would be even better if I could have 1 keyboard. Or the 76 key version of the 88 with their new key action.
    Of course I already have my JD-Xi, but that covers a whole different area for sound, along with the PSS-A50, and the Reface CP, YC, DX and CS lf you want a compact recording setup, or proficient with the 37 mini key format.
    But yes, the 76 key format is the uncommon, but sweetspot middle ground manufacturers should offer more of, like Yamaha does, and Roland has for most of its workstations.
    But if Cssio had a 76 key version of the CT-S1 with a pitch bend wheel, and pro audio connections that would be a great gigging keyboard if you need the added range of the 76 keys.

    • @JeremySee
      @JeremySee  Před 2 lety +2

      @@JeremySee I agree. A kind of CT-X3000 in the same form factor as the CT-S400, but with a numeric keypad, an integrated digital audio interface as in the PSR E373/463, two live knobs and all the “exclusive” sounds of the CT-S1. This would be cool 😎

      Dude i have both the P125 and Ew410
      If you're mostly playing piano, the P125 is the best choice. It feels really nice to play on with weighted keys and the piano sounds nicer.
      If you want to play more than just piano and with auto accompaniment arranger features, the ew410 is a good choice. Piano doesn't sound as realistic as P125, and the keys is thumpy and not like a real piano, but the 76 keys gives sufficient range IMO

      If you can afford it, the SX-700 is much better in all aspects. I bought a SX-600 (for students) and had to return it. The SX-600 is still way superior compared to E-serie keyboards.

    In India we search in CZcams which keyboard to buy,, it always recommend yamaha psr i500 and casio ctx 9000in,, it is a headache for indian boys which to buy,, everyone is looking for answer but no one can give exact answer but i recommend casio ctx 9000in,, Bcoz it has got more features for live performance

      That's because they only show the keyboards which are available online. And most of the Casio CTX ones and Yamaha I series are trash. Be sensible and choose your keyboard taking into consideration your needs and priorities with a keyboard, like do you wanna play piano music or electronic, etc.

    The PSR-E463 and EW410 are more like a little synthesizer in a home keyboard for me. The two knobs and their assignable knob assign make this keys much more like a synthesizer than a home keyboard. Thanks for the review, I'm still happy to using psr-E463 until now 😁😄

    Hye Jeremy can ew410 record using rec & share apps?

    • @1942nn
      @1942nn Před 2 lety

      The SX-600 has digital audio interface and is compatible with rec&share apps. This EW410 also has digital audio interface, I would think it can be used for rec&share apps. I have not tried this with my EW-410 yet as I do not have a tablet or smartphone that is compatible with Yamaha rec&share apps.

      Depends what DGX model
      If we're comparing DGX 500 series and EW410, they're almost the same. Difference is DGX has 88 keys and EW has 76. EW is also lighter and portable.
      If you're comparing with DGX 600 series, it is much much better than EW410, sound quality and feature wise. Oh and the DGX 600 series has actual weighted keys.

    76 keys should be new standard for high end arranger keyboard.
    With that being said, I recommended this keyboard to everyone.

    • @1942nn
      @1942nn Před 2 lety

      I have a EW-410 and I play Tyros3 as arranger keyboard, 61 keys are sufficient, but not when playing it as piano. 61 key is more portable than 76 keys. All that said, I also bought a Genos which has 76 keys, certainly great as an arranger and really good for piano playing.

    Hi Jeremy, nice review as usual. In 2021 I would probably not buy the EW410 but wait for the release of the EW425 instead.
    A young person starting the piano or the keyboard could also consider the EW310 with its 76 keys and the same DSPs and SArt Lite! voices as in the PSR E373.

    Jeremy, I have been following your reviews consistently for the past 2+ years. Finally, with this review I felt that it was time to subscribe. Thank you for your good work.
    Three points:
    (A). 73 or 76 keys can make a huge difference in the playability of many piano pieces. One rarely, rarely needs 88 keys for most music. Save some space and $ vs. 88 keys. Looking at a catalog from 20 years ago showed that there were relatively more 76-key keyboards available back then. Maybe they just didn’t sell that well. This is my choice though for sure.
    (B). A semi-weighted action would be ideal for piano playing on a similar unit. Lighter than a full hammer action but better than a mushy synth action.
    (C). Can you just imagine what a 76-key keyboard upgrade from a future Yamaha 473 or a Casio CT-X5000 would be like? Wow! That would be super!
    Kind regards.
