Well, I have been to Shanghai on business trips and as an Indian, I can say that wherever we went, it felt very safe, even when the language was a problem. Unknown people on the roadside took so much efforts to make us comfortable, while boarding buses, trains, shopping etc. The cab drivers are polite and really honest, when one of the cab drivers accidently took us through an incorrect route, he apologised profusely and was not even accepting the money from us, as he believed it was his mistake. The service apartment staff, where we lived, was again extremely friendly and once you tell that you are an Indian and don't know the local language they tried all means to make us comfortable. Knowing that we are pure vegetarians, they even went an extra mile to change their breakfast menu to suit our likings. It was an extremely pleasant stay of 3 week. The city is beautiful and open. People are really awesome. I have travelled extensively throughout US, Australia, Europe...but I can say, that the stay in Shanghai was one of the best highlights that I shall always remember

I think the biggest difference between China and India is the way they think. For example: India prides itself on being the world's largest democracy. Hunger, poverty, vagrancy, homelessness, rape, security are not important. What matters most is the concept of democracy. Chinese people don't give a shit about democracy. For the government, if you can give me a good life, I will support you. If you don't do something good, I'll overthrow you. In history, the Chinese people have overthrown dozens of governments. The current Chinese leadership thinks the same way. Deng Xiaoping once said, “It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.”. A government can only talk about democracy if it can make people's lives better. Therefore, the Chinese people never define what kind of country their country is. Only that it is socialism with Chinese characteristics. This feature covers everything. All good means are called features.

    • @ll-tc4pz
      @ll-tc4pz Před 11 měsíci +59

Some people say that China is not democratic and free, but the Chinese Communist Party government is an elite politics, and important decisions require voting, but the right to vote is in the hands of a small number of elites, which has played a big role in this. It is meaningless for ordinary people to participate in voting on major decisions. It will only delay the proposal and create more problems.
If there is a certain government job, the party organization will vote among a group of outstanding political workers to select a better and more suitable official to fill the position. The goal of the Communist Party is to make the people live more freely, make the society more harmonious, make the country richer and stronger, and make the system more democratic.
Of course, the Chinese government has been dealing with some problematic officials, but most of the officials were also capable officials before they were corrupted, and had made achievements in the local area and a certain project. However, the government system is strict. If there is a problem with the project in charge, or someone else is reported, they will be investigated. If the problem is serious, no matter your official position, you will be imprisoned..

Only two shots appeared in the video were police officers, and the rest were train service staff. The scream of the train waiter on the train is to remind passengers that the train will soon reach a site, allowing passengers to bring the items they carry with them to get off the bus. In addition, that row of cameras are traffic violations, not monitoring individuals. Most of the video shooters speak are their own judgments. Because the Western media affected him, he took a bias to Xinjiang to shoot. In addition, Xinjiang's security measures are indeed stricter than the Mainland. Because Xinjiang has prevailed. While you can't enjoy safe travel, you can complain that safety inspections are strict. If there are no strict safety inspections, can Xinjiang be developed in the city, and the city is everywhere in the city. Can Xinjiang be developed?

From Chinese, cameras will detect crime, lower crime rates, actually it does. Polices will keep people safe, nobody except criminals feels scared with polices.
Cameras are so common in China, government sets it in main streets and facilities for monitoring traffic and crime, administrators put cameras in their stores, transportations and restaurants for avoiding disputes, homeowners set cameras in their houses and neighborhoods to keep their safe.

This indiscriminate attack lasted for a long time, and because China was not too wary of this kind of terrorism at that time, there were not many professional police officers at the train station, so the police had to be sent from the police station. Around that time, some train stations started to have armed guards. There is a lack of freedom in China, but it is mostly regulated on the Internet, not in the real world.

I know that is not the "freedom and human right" that the west preaches, however, Chinese people value the rights of everyone, including our women and children wandering around, enjoying themselves late into the night without having to worry about their personal safety, and the polices don't have to carry guns or carry sticks to beat people just to get them to go by the rules.

Many unified dynasties in Indian history were very short-lived and were taken over from time to time by outsiders, most notably the British. Tibet has been a part of China since the Yuan dynasty of the Chinese historical empire, and it is normal that there have been small religiously autonomous chiefs in the long history. Between the 2nd century BCE and 2nd century CE the Han dynasty established the Protectorate of the Western Regions or Xiyu Protectorate (西域都護府) in an effort to secure the profitable routes of the Silk Road.

The truth is that the people in the blue uniforms on the train are not police, they're just train attendants. you can see them shout loudly all over the country and they're just reminding people When you arrive at the station. As train attendants, they inspect the train carriages every 10 minutes to half an hour to ensure that there are no thieves and passengers' packages safe. Just like the speeding camera you shot on the road, a lot of questions are made up of your own imagination. Relax yourself so that you can enjoy your journey better.

I experienced the same thing and was informed that it is safer to ride by yourself instead of with other strangers because there might be organized pickpocket or robbery. That is the main reason that police obtained the taxi driver's information (the one you rode in) to also put the driver on notice in case anything bad happens to you. This generally happens in more remote areas.

Let me tell my Indian friends some history. Aksai Chin (and all of Ladakh) has been historical territory of Tibet for over a thousand years. Tibet itself was integrated into China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) when Princess Wencheng was married to King Songtsen Gampo in 641. Ever since Tibet has been under Chinese rule - either through direct administration, royal intermarriage, or existence as a tributary state. During the last Chinese dynasty - Qing (1636-1912), the supreme ruler of Tibet was the "Imperial commissioner (驻藏大臣)" appointed by the Qing Emperor in Beijing. The succession of the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama must go through the process of "Golden Urn (金瓶掣签)" and be approved by the central government.
During the "Century of Humiliation" after 1842 when China was invaded, fragmented and semi-colonized by the Europeans and Japanese, the authority and control ability of the central government was weakened and fell to the bottom. The Russian, British, American...etc. were all seizing the opportunity to compete in the partitioning of China! This is the time when Tsarist Russia grabbed huge areas of Siberia, Outer Manchuria and Outer Mongolia from China. The British colonists were not too far behind, in effort to extend their control and influence from India into Tibet, they encouraged the 13th Dalai Lama to briefly declare independence in 1913 (though never recognized by any country in the world) and imposed the "McMahon Line" which transferred large areas of traditional Tibetan territory (Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh/South Tibet included) to British India. This unequal treaty was never recognized by any central governments of China.
After Indian independence, the ruling elites inherited the ambition and mindset of the British colonist. They insisted on the realization of the "McMahon Line" and this led to decades of Sino-Indian border conflicts. During the 1962 war, India was defeated within a month. But the Chinese government unexpectedly and immediately announced a cease-fire. The Chinese army withdraw on its own initiative to 20 miles behind the LOC (line of actual control) before the war started, returned all POWs and captured weapons. This is to differentiate modern China from Western colonist and imperialist powers (each time after defeat during the "century of humiliation", China had to cede territories and was fined large sum of compensation). The intent was to demonstrate that we were not an "invader" and sticked to the spirit of "Hindi-Chini Bhai-Bhai". As a result, India resumed the control of all Arunachal Pradesh/South Tibet without firing a shot. China didn't capture a single inch of Indian land during the 1962 war! This might seem foolish in the eyes of nationalist, but it's the ideology of communist China under Mao!

Also, in China, for the sake of fairness, taxis must line up at the station to pick up passengers, and cannot jump in line to grab passengers, which is unfair to other taxis. In addition, it is not the police who wear uniforms on the train, but the train staff. When you see uniforms and hats, don't think they are all police officers.

When entering a railway station in China, you have to cross first a security check-point for ID and body+luggage scanning, then a second security check point for either Tickets Office (ID + body + luggage) or Departures Hall (ID + ticket + body + luggage). Then you will have a ticket control before entering the platforms and another control when entering the carriage. As you said, very similar to air transportation all over the world, definitively not the Indian Railways standard 😅.
Railway security management is special in Xinjiang for 2 reasons.
    1) the first access check-point is very far from the building entrance. In Kuqa, 1st access check-point was 150m away from the building entrance where in other Chinese railway stations (outside Xinjiang, like Xi'an or Xining), it is only 10 to 20m away, if not less. I understand it is a better deterrence against terrorist bombing.
    2) In Xinjiang, you are checked before leaving the railway station, as you experienced it in Hotan (as I did, as in Kargilik, Kuqa, Urumqi...). Since each xian (administrative area) is in charge of its own security, the local police check every entrance, be it by train or by road. As an example, before leaving the Kargilik railway station area, I have been intercepted by the Police which drove me to the Western Bus Station in order to leave the Kargilik Xian (a no-no area) under the shared taxi driver responsibility.
This policy applies if you are entering Xinjiang from Gansu by train. Passengers are checked in the train as if coming from another country, at least foreigners. Picture of passport with your face, uploaded to Central Control, then waiting for the answer.
Be happy to have traveled by train from Kashgar to Khotan, because the road transportation implies far more security checking (including repetitive body scanning). At least, my own experience in September 2018 between Kargilik and Kashgar.

If thats the case, its good.
And that just proof that Foreigners are still allow to travel around anywhere you like, and those security checks are for every citizens and passengers, irrespect of your race, ethnicity and nationality.
