    Comparison with MT-09 begins at @9:20
    Many of you have asked for Mike's thoughts on his FZ1 compared to the MT-09 that he owned last year. In this motovlog, Mike covers some of the differences between the two bikes and talks about what appeals about each motorcycle.

    I think you nailed the essence of the FZ1. I looked into the FZ09 and found a decent deal on one but everything I read was that it was really a hooligan bike that was not as stable north of 80mph as one would like. I found an 06 FZ1 with about 7k miles and picked it up cheap enough that I figured if I didn't like it I could sell it and get my money back out of it. Long story short I started doing a series of upgrades and changes that has made this bike earn a place in the garage for the indefinite future.

      The scariest thing about the FZ1 it feels just as stable at 110+ (not that I've ever done that on the streets) as it does at 60 mph. The bike likes to go fast and doesn't hide that.

      Yea it definitely can't get a little windy sometimes, but overall the bike is great!

    I one of those weird people who moved from a XSR900 to and Fz1. I really miss the quickshifter and the traction control/ABS but overall its so much more comfortable. Especially on the highway. I hate the lack of wind resistance on a naked bikes.
    I would be interested in seeing how you would like a Ninja 1000. That sorta been compared to the Fz1.

    Shout out to dirt road eddie! I got one of his seats as well on my gsxs750. He only lives about 30 minutes from me so every seat I get goes to him.
    Thanks for the review I'm strongly considering FZ1 for my next bike

    Fz1N my last and best ride. Got the speed, comfort minimal maintenance costs. Nice weight for the average sized rider. Japanese technology. Maxed at 270km/ h. Steady as she goes. Harleys were more farm equipment machines.😂

    What handle bars are you using? I have stock 1st gen bars on my second gen. Yours look much wider.

    I love my FZ1. I made it into a street fighter because I’m not a fan of the looks with the fairings but fully naked they’re beautiful. I’m seriously looking at an MT09 but idk if I could part with my FZ1 lol it’s such an incredible bike and super comfy (compared to my R6 lmao).

    I picked up a "old" 05 1st gen fz1 in jan of 2021 with only 2800 miles on it for 2500 bucks! its the end of oct 2021 and nearing 16k issue free. this bike will cruise the whole tank of gas at 120 mph 6.5k rpm....NP. I regularly ride with kids half my age with newer 600 r's and they have problems keeping up. Not as nimble in the twisties as a r6 but holds its own. It does everything well. Had it to 152 mph gps so it will make some some noise lol.

    I think I've decided to start buying a bike every two -three years and rather than sell the one I have, just keep it and work the next one in to the rotation. In twenty years I'll be the proud owner of ten or more motorcycles 😂😂. I used to have a Gen 1 Fz1 and I drove that thing for 16 years before I sold it for money for my daughter a car. I wish I had it back man. I took great care of it, maintenance, appearance, never down, valve adjustment etc etc. I only put about 60k miles over all that time, mainly driving to and from work. It really kept the mileage down on my truck too! But I need another one because I've gotten into the habit of driving my SS All the time and I put 18k miles on my Camaro in a year and a half. I plan on keeping the car long term but it is also my plan to keep it cherry. I don't mind putting some miles on it but not a crap load of miles commuting. But I absolutely love the gen 2 FZ1 and I think it would be a better bike than what I have currently. Lifan KPM 200 for the 75mpg treatment. I only paid $2700 for it New and shipped to the house. I was taking a risk being it's a Chinese motorcycle, but I admit that the quality of the motorcycle is much better than I expected. I've been trying to get it looking and sounding better first, but it's a good little cheap one. Only thing is that I have experience riding big bikes and I just can't get over it that I have to wring it's neck to do the speed limit!!😅. So thanks for the video, some really good points about the comparison... I've never owned a triple but I have been hooked on the inline fours since the 1980's, so I might as well just grab a good one and rotate away. Laters

      @@FocusedGarage Awesome that’s what I like to hear. Does the front wheel come up from just getting on the throttle? Also how far is your speedometer off?

    • @FocusedGarage
      @FocusedGarage  Před 3 lety

      Speedometer is within 2 mph of accurate when doing 70 mph. You really have to rip the throttle to try and lift the wheel.
