    Unreal how that vehicle is assembled, I myself have a 2002 limited with 87k miles I bought new, same color...I live on long island. Ny...body and paint in need of restoration, but like you show, that cladding took the brunt of the damage....can't own anything nice here in New york...but thanks to you, I have done all the tundra upgrades to the front brakes, suspension and also had to do a whole frame and undercarriage reconditioning and the underside of the vehicle is super mint. You inspired me with your video's and ur passion for the care and detail with everything you have done....thanks so much!!

    Your video is a life saver! I could not find anything anywhere online on how to replace my right rear fender flares. Now I have a good idea of what I’m dealing with. Thanks a million!! Subscribed to your channel and gave you a big thumbs up 👍🏽 I really enjoyed your video !!

    Brother, I’m doing the exact same resto that you are. Thank you for leading the way and documenting. Very well done. Any links to parts and part numbers are always greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work.

    Excellent series on your 4Runner. Can't thank you enough for the great videos and suggestions. I'm just starting the process of restoring our S/C'ed '01 that's nearly identical. Unfortunately, it developed a head gasket leak, maybe a cracked head, but taking the opportunity for a complete restore. Fender flare repainting was on this list and this is very informative. Keep the great content rolling!

    Wow that paint matching looks spot on! The rear bumper on mine has a ding and is paint matched to the car. This gives me some hope i can get a new one and paint match it. Ive always been worried about the color not matching so have left it as is. Some of my fender flares also have some scratches to the paint and the striping on them is cracking and changing color. I unfortunaetly have the door moulding as weel so that will be fun when I tackle that . Thanks for the video im working on restoring my 4runner as well!

    Do you know where I can get the flare runner trim? Like the little molding around the flares? Thanks

    Great vid! What type of adhesive did you use to glue to rubber welting to the body when you re-attached the flares??

    Great videos and awesome 3rd gen. I am actually thinking of removing all the flares on mine. I prefer the clean lines without it. I realize all the holes would need to be filled and painted but did you see any other obstacles to going that route based on disassembly?

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  Před 8 měsíci

      I like the flares without the rest of the side cladding personally. Only difference I saw was the holes. Weld, fill, paint, and it's like they were never there.

    Could you possibly share the replacement clip part numbers. Specifically the first one you took off. I had to remove the same one and I am having a hard time finding the right clips. I had to order the new yellow mounting bracket because that broke as well lol

    Wow, they came back looking awesome! I have an SR5, so I don't have those bump out fender flares like that (I did get some of the black plastic kind at a junk yard, and I can screw them on inside the fender). It's great to see how those clip on and off, so thanks for showing this. I have some of that slick protective coating like yours, but its on my lower rear doors, and it has turned black over time. Do you mind sharing the name of the paint shop you used? I'm in middle TN, and I have some spots that I inherited on my 4Runner that I'd love to have looked at. I've painted some other minor things on the truck myself since I bought it three years ago (and always planned on doing some of the body work myself), but kind of like you said, I should probably go with a pro for the spots I'm needing repaired (to color match with aging, etc.).

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It'll be hard to spot paint, typically the entire panel has to be painted just keep that in mind.

  • @tylerbraun7600
    @tylerbraun7600 Před 6 měsíci +1

    For the molding trim, do you have to take the fender flares off completely? I have the exact same 4Runner as you and your videos are bringing in a lot of inspiration what to do with mine!

    • @SpeedysGarage

    Damn I just wanted an easy way to unplug my power antenna. No hope there lol. guess I'll buy some replacement tabs and shit

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  Před 4 měsíci

      You can get to the power antennae through the wheel liner.

    • @stiff2077
      @stiff2077 Před 4 měsíci

      @SpeedysGarage Yes, but not worth removing the sport flares. BUT I found a better way last night, pop the hood look near the power antenna you'll see a buzzer with two pink wires, this is your beep beep on your alarm. follow them to the harness and you'll see two wires, one black with yellow stripe and one blue, they'll exit into your fender next to a clear plastic tube. Cut those and bam antenna disabled and no relay clicking without destroying your fender liner or sport flares without having to buy new plastic caps when you remove your flare cause they always break. Best thing I've ever done to my 4runner XD

    Do you have a link to the clips? I thought people said it was the flare itself that broke. Knowing that is was just the clips for you make me want to attempt this as well...

    Can you put limited side skirt flares on a 2000 sr5?. Or would the fit not work cause of the different running boards?.

      The 4Runners with larger flares have holes in the fenders for clips.

    Any idea what the purpose of the PPF stips were for on the rear fender flares?? My two are in much worse condition than yours. Terrible crazing/peeling over the last 20+ years. Any insight/perspective would be appreciated.

    i have a 98 4runner same color and had a fender bender last week and damaged my front bumper left side fender flare. unfortunately when i ordered the replacement part it came as black and not that silver color and without the rubber lining. Any tips on how to paint or maybe i should try to find the same part in a junkyard to save from the hassle of painting. thanks and god bless!

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  Před 9 měsíci

      You can get a paint shop to match the paint, prep the flare, clean, sealer applied, paint, and a 2K clear. You can get the sealer, color, and clear in spray cans from a paint shop.

    Did you ever find a better source for the clips? $8 per clip is going to be really expensive for me since I have the door moulding too. I just removed them today and need about 25 of them. Most of mine broke. Cheers!
