    I made a decision on the new tire setup for the 3rd Gen 4Runner and had been debating between 285/75R16 or 265/75R16.

    It looks great! 3rd Gens are my favorite body style. You've really done a lot of work to it.
    I've got a 2000 4Runner and I put Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/70/17's on the same wheels you have...6 spoke Level 8's in charcoal color....love those wheels! I have Bilstein 5100's with OME coils for a 2" lift. I did put on SPC adjustable upper control arms to be able to dial in the alignment close to factory and I also added a diff drop kit. I was getting a slight vibration at 60-65 mph and the diff drop solved that. Also put in new lower ball joints and axles. It rides and drives great. I have factory 4:10 gears, and the acceleration is not great, but it ain't a sports car. I got 18 mpg on the highway on a trip to Colorado loaded to the gills with 2 large adults in it. I did have to trim the lower front part of the factory fender flairs, and I get a slight rub on the back of the wheel well liner in reverse at almost full lock, but I can live with that. Toyota designed these vehicles with large wheel wells, I think anticipating people would put large tires on them, so they actually look "correct" with bigger tires than the factory tires.

    I’ve been using 275/70 R 16’s on the 2008 3rd gen ever since I did a 2” ARB Old Man Emu lift about 20 years ago… the size is the stock size on the 100 series Landcuiser of the same era. This size works well for me and looks good too

    Looking good! I also put the Open Country AT3s in 265/70/17 on my '01 a few months back - they don't look quite as aggressive as the Wildpeaks I had before, but seems like folks love the performance and they last a long time! I'm sure you'll be able to get another 9 years from them. ;) Excited to see the continued "restoration" project.

    Thanks! Looks great. I'm still stock, and keep going back and forth about upsizing to 265/75/16. I have the 1" icon lift springs in the rear, but still stock suspension up front on my 2002. I think given my suspension it might make sense to stay at 265/70/16 and just get a more aggressive tire. Looking forward to more vids. Subscribed!

      What tire size dis you go with? I got a 2002 3rd gen with a 1.5 suspension lift and I can't make my mind up on what size tires to in stall. I only go on trails out side of the city.

    I think the recommended life is 7 years or if any visible deterioration on tires. These look nice, I've got 275/70/17 on my 3rd gen so similar overall size but you have larger sidewalls. I have the Coopers you mentioned and they are great, aggressive looking but quite and great handling, have Cooper muds on my Land Cruiser and they are significantly louder.

    I have the same tires and size on mine, got them in load range B. They are light, ride nice and are great in the snow! They are wearing well, but had to replace one cuz it got hit by a stray bullet.

    i agree about the load rating. my 265 ko2 on my 18' 4runner are on its last leg with 65k miles, not too shabby. i want to make the jump to 285 and its obviously tempting to get MTs until u really read the load ratings and the weight. so i might stick with the k02's but in a bigger size and load C is available as well. thank you for the video.

    Considering the fact that you wont sell this truck anytime soon, I'd go with some nice old school looking RECARO seats.
    They'll look better, and will hug you as well.✌

    Awesome update! Let me know which direction you go when you decide to replace the seat foam. I've shopped around for a set of OEM foam seat bottoms, but have yet to get lucky.

    I used to install Katzkins. They're pretty good in terms of quality, and I would highly recommend them. Their color match to factory interior is pretty good also

  • @yoda1090
    @yoda1090 Před 9 měsíci +4

    I highly recommend doing the BMW F30/F32 seats for the interior, no welding needed, just need to knock of the OEM seat risers/feet and bolt it in. I about 6'2" 240lbs and the seat upgrade was amazing for the long drives, my head actually rested on the headrest, and the seat absorbed a lot of the minor road vibrations/bumps compared to the OEM ones.

    Looks awesome! I had a similar dilemma. I wanted 285’s, but I didn’t want the extra weight, possibly re-gearing, etc, so I went with the same size as yours (also at Discount Tires - the best prices and free rotate/balance). And I’m a fan of the white letters out!

    Hi what kind of side steps u got on the 4Runner? Most I’ve seen the bar is lil bit far from the frame, those look like they sit pretty close to the frame.

    • @SpeedysGarage

      They were some knock off brand I got 15 years ago and had custom powder coated. Mussa or something like that I doubt they're made any longer.

    I think you picked well, I actually thought those were the larger size and was thinking that you were just a tiny bit too big.
    So, the larger size would have been visually too big had you gone that way.

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  Před rokem +1

      I kinda lucked out I think. I got the "look" I was going for with the more aggressive larger looking tire but without the extra weight. Win win.
