The airport had a temporary runway closure on August 10 2023 and resumed sirvice on the same day at 2:30 pm which brought in delayed flights plus those that were scheduled for late arrival and also a pleasant surprise in the form of a c17 globe master from the US Air Force, aircraft were made of the new runway length as a portion of the runway was to be used with caution,do enjoy this one Stewy say thanks for watching and have a great one

I felt more than a twinge of sadness as I thought how drlightful it would be to see an Air Jamaica plane coming in, and to hear "twin accent" as ATC relays information and pilot responds. Ah well, I will keep in mind and heart the absolute delight and the pride I experienced on that day in Rosedale Queens, when from my sister-in-law's backyard I looked and saw the beautiful Love Bird gliding towards JFK (?) Airport!

We are a capable people and I'm very concerned that most of the comments here are about exactly what is seen and that's ok . But is there any Jamaican concern about why this plane came and why a US submarine surfaced only weeks ago on the northcoast. China is up to something in the US backyard. This is my concern .

From what I see, this appears to be nothing more than an advanced detail arriving ahead of whatever dignitary is supposed to visit in the coming days. That C-17 would have had armored vehicles exiting as well if there was a constitutional head of state coming to visit.

Why did the Globe Master, a transport aircraft land in Jamaica? This aircraft is designed to carry large troops and equipment.
There is something in the air i don't know but i say it in the vision there will be military presence in Jamaica sooner than we expect

I love seeing that Aircraft, the few times I saw it at Norman Manley Int’l Airport when i was working Flight Connections LTD back In 2019
It's truly a joy to see this aircraft in operation and not something you see every day especially in Montego Bay, have a blessed one, I have the departure scheduled for release tomorrow morning
Good videos Stewy, my kind with biggies. The C-17 is always a sight to behold when coming into NMIA. The ATC sounds like a senior person did a good job. I'm hoping you would have caught a C22 Cirrus V tail single private jet, very unique aircraft. Departed MBJ on Monday afternoon to panama. Hope they sort out runway soon, imagine if it was R25 being used! Bless!

It is beautiful to see on approach to landing. One can see just how large this transport/cargo aircraft is when that box truck pulled up to unload supplies. Imagine how massive the C-5 Galaxy is because it's the largest in USAF's inventory!

Seeing this channel for the first time. Strange that some viewers seemed not to be concerned about Russian and Chinese military presence near to our Jamaican waters but they seem overly concern with the US military presence. Anyway, if it's to protect us then I'm not so concerned. Impressed by our ATC and proud that we have capabilities to accomodate and land such powerful flying machines. That C 17 is from the 437th Air Wing based in Charleston, SC. I was stationed there in 1970. The soul sisters were very friendly.

When i used to work at the Norman Manley Int’l Airport, on the Airside, i offload and load passenger's luggages in the bulkhole both front and AFT (Back)although inside is very hot because of the packing of luggages, i Wing walked the Inbound Aircraft but the i didn't get to do was Marshalling it

I missed watching this planes taking off and landing. I always remember the years I was working on C-5’s as an aircraft maintenance at Travis Air Force when I was in the U.S. Air Force.... missed those days in the mid 70’s.

What saddens me watching this, is how there is no more Air Jamaica. I remember the days when you looked at the ramp at SIA, and there would be 5 or 6 aircraft with the Air Jamaica logo on it. Now nothing. Only foreign owned carriers. Not to mention that both of Jamaica's airports are now owned by Mexicans. So sad that our aviation infrastructure has been sold off by our corrupt and feckless leaders. BTW, did you know that Air Jamaica was once given an award for being one of the safest airlines ever. I believed it was the first airline to reach 50 million passenger miles without any fatalities or incidents. So, we have an aviation legacy to be proud off.
Also, the passengers who departed from that C-17 are most likely people from Langley, Virginia, and you don't want to know why they are in Jamaica. Note none of them went through customs and immigration.

Not necessary high officials but could be. The U.S. Air Force operates a fleet of 737s, 757s, G550s, and other aircraft that are more appropriate to for VIP travel. The reasoning why this was a C-17 and wasn’t a C-130 or a aircraft of the USAF executive fleet is unclear.
