I have the small Shark for extra circulation in my 40, and the small whale in my bedroom 20, I love them both, super quiet. PS I believe the top dial is for the aeration adjustment when using the air hose that attaches to the top and sticks out of the water, the bottom adjustment is for the actual flow.

Would you run this filter or an Aquaclear 50 on a lightly stocked 40 gallon plant grow out hexagon tank?
So this is my take, if you don’t mind having something inside your aquarium then I’d go with the Shark but if you want something hanging on the back? I wouldn’t go with a Aquaclear I’d go with a Seachem Tidal by Sicce, check out this video, these hang on the backs are absolutely hands down the best on the Market!

What about fish fry? Will they not get sucked in n up? I actually have one of these I bought few years back second hand, way too large for my tanks other than my 120 litre but I have pea puffers in that and it’s way too much pressure for those. I may consider placing mine in my 60 litre but only use one of the two filter compartments. I wanna try breed my Sewellia Lineolata so I can possibly use in that tank as they live a lot of river flow. Can you place this laying sideways?

Aloha Lisa… as the fry thing goes I was told by Sicce that it’s dry safe not sure if you need to put a little net around the base of the Shark or not but from what I heard if you dial it all the way down it’s dry safe

The Sicce Shark is awesome. You should try putting the rings first and the sponges last. The rings would then allow for a place for the poop to settle meaning your sponges only deal with the cleanest water instead of getting clogged up quickly 👍🏻👊🏻

I have the 800 shark. Thing is awesome. Only down side to it, it doesn't get the stuff floating in the water. But it keeps the water from getting foggy. My corys, frogs, loaches keep the rest of it clean.

I too have the shark ADV 800. But what I did with mine was took all the media/ sponges out.
And put in ( growit) clay pebbles in the big can aster. Then in the top canaster I put in natural pillow filler.
My 55gallon is a sight to see. It's all natural community tank all live plants. But you should try what I did I very seldom get alge. I also do a very small water change. But for the most part the shark 800 does most of the work. Other than me changing the pillow filler if it's real dirty.

@@HaYNFishKeeper correct. Looks like people use K1 micro media, but can only seem to find it in bulk meant for pond filters, and I obviously wouldn't need that much for a Shark. Sicce made their own demonstration video about it years ago: czcams.com/video/W-ZM5qcDG-c/video.html
These are also good for coffins too. I had two Shark 800's installed into mine some time ago and the right bacteria formed onto the three parts of foam very quickly, cutting down my ammonia and nitrates down to almost 0 ppm. I should have the grounds care swap those foams out every now and again to help others seed their loved ones' coffins. Until next time...

I’ve got a 400 in my 20 gallon tank. Instead of the sponges, I put ceramic biomedia in the chamber. It’s been filtering my tank for about three months now and the water parameters haven’t changed. In fact I only have to do 30% water changes every two weeks. The filter really does it’s job. I keep it set on a low flow and the intake closed to protect my fish.

Hey I'm not here to spoil things to those who want to buy this..But mine doesn't work properly..I purchase it last year around month of May..Then Feb 2021 comes I noticed that water in the tank turns cloudy and a lot of sludge.I noticed that motor doesn't work.So I washed my Shark ADV,replaced water in the tank ..It work again but after a few minutes..It stops again...so I let it just sit again for a few days..water turns cloudy again and I observe water doesnt flow on the filter so I cleaned up again..it work again for a few minutes and it stops again...So I guess there's a problem with that Filter I supposed. Mine is Shark Adv 800 so I'm kinda disappointed.Any suggestions?

Congrats on the sponsorship👊🏻 So basically you can leave off the extra compartment you get, and it’s the same height as the 600? I want the 800 for the extra flow and that fine sponge it comes with. I also have a 29g. I guess I can also move it to a bigger tank eventually and be all ready to go.
The 800 is a little bit bigger than the 600 because it comes with an extra compartment and the motor is stronger I added another compartment to the 800 to make it even longer! 🤙🏽🐠🤙🏽

@@HaYNFishKeeper I did at first but then started making a lot of noise so I stopped using it. But the noise has returned, I think the impeller and housing just needs a good clean out as it's stopped now. Hopefully stay quiet for a few weeks at least 🤞🏼
