it is completely insane that a demographic that is in reality probably the biggest, is no market in fashion. How is that possible. Like a healthy "average" size body is not represented. I guess because then if women would see themselves represented in fashion, there would be nothing to feel bad about. And that doesn't sell.
Jenni Vuorinen I have a few things to say about your comment. 1) I think the "average body" doesn't sell because having an average body is unimpressive. 2) depending on where you live the average body isn't what many people (including doctors and surgeons) would call healthy. if the average body is considered to be medically obese then people who are not obese will get attention for being special ot average. 3) no such thing as a "healthy average size body". an average by definition is the number of measurement (in this case we will say pounds) divided by the number of people weighed. so if we have 5, 9, 10, 1, 2, and 3 added together they equal 30 which is divided by 6, this makes the average is 5 but some people are 1s and 2s while others are 9s and 10s.
Jordan Henderson I live in Southern Europe at the moment and would say that the most common body type is definitely not clinically unhealthy. It's European size Medium. It's not underweight it's not overweight. It's in the middle. And yes, I would say that these people who fall in the middle, who are the majority, are underrepresented in fashion.
Cat b I hated being an 8 people would always tell me I was small but I felt huge? I know so many people would love to be an 8 but it's such a strange size to me…you're "too big" to be really small but you're "too small" to be an "average" size of like 10-12
This made me strangely emotional. I've had such troubles finding someone who's "somebody" that looks like me at all. I've always felt like my kind of body had no place at all. Thank you, Myla.
It's interesting how our desire to express ourselves in our clothes is so linked to consumerism. A lot of companies market their product as "the next best thing" or "trendy and fashionable", but they're really encouraging people to base their identity on what they buy. It's a self-destructive cycle.
These videos aren't for you to look at other people and wish you looked like them, it's about understanding that you don't have to look like anyone but you. Take care and love your body and it will become its best form it can be on its own. 😊
I just want to thank you all for making these videos. I'm at a low point with my mental illness and listening these life experiences uplift me in a way other things don't. They truly inspire.
Can so relate. So much time I wasted with diet pills, anorexia, bulimia when I was working and could buy food and now I'm disabled and get $15 a month in food stamps and I think about all the times when I COULD have bought food and it was more important to be thin. Some of these videos, you hate to see them end because you want to hear more about these women because they are more interesting that 8-9 minutes can tell you.
at the end when she mentioned "how much she loved food" THAT is the most genuine smile I have ever seen from an adult woman, her eyes lit up and I could feel it like a blast wave into my soul, she is amazingly gorgeous inside and out.... wow!!!!!!
the inbetween. I have been thinking and journalling about that thought for weeks. wondering where I fit in this body movement. connecting with the positive body image ideals of the plus community but not really a part of the plus community because I am too skinny but not skinny enough to be represented in the stores I can actually shop in. it's a crazy thought.
don't care about it to much tho, your body is the healthiest. Not plus size and not thin . You are skinny healthy, perfect and I think Healthy will be the next ideal
I know what she met by inbetweeners. I'm one and I'm short, and my kind of body is never represented anywhere. And where I live, many women and girls look like me,
Pretty doesn't mean life is perfect. It's so easy to have pre judgement against her because she's pretty and a mode. But this doesn't mean she doesn't feel pain or experience life's struggles. In this video, she expresses a beauty that far exceeds physicality. I Love all you men and women. Blessings brothers and sisters 💕
I am sitting looking at this woman and wondering how she doesn't qualify as a regular model. I know she's 'larger', but she's still so small, and so beautiful.
Oh my goodness! I knew that I'd seen her tattoo somewhere - she is a model on the aerie website - specifically with their new feature that allows you to view bras by your own size (and see what the bra looks like on someone with the same/similar bra size) and she is the ONLY model for the D/DD bras. Whew. It's annoying when you can't think of where you have seen someone before, lol!
Amazing, both mentally and physically. I just want to hug her. I feel so bad for young people struggling with selfworth in part because of the fashion industry and influencers.
06aluta you just read my comment and feel attacked because you read what you WANT to read. Shes perfect BEING an oversized model, im trying to make a point here saying that "NORMAL" models are super skinny while this girl who is perfectly ok is a plus size model and i dont get why a girl with a beautiful body like this, wouldnt be considered just a model and not a plus size one.. i am against the fact of calling models by "normal" and "plus size", i am myself plus size and i find this girl way thinner than me, that´s why i said that, because i think we should stop with this stereotype thing
galatea1995 '"NORMAL" models are super skinny this girl who is perfectly ok is a plus size model and i dont get why a girl with a beautiful body like this, wouldnt be considered just a model and not a plus size one..' If you reread what your wrote, you'll find that you resolved you own confusion. She's called a plus size model because she's not 'Super skinny'. Maybe the modelling companies should call them 'A-little-bigger-than-the-average-size model', but that doesn't roll out the tongue very nicely. Even if she's thinner than you, there's also perfection in 'plusier' sizes. :). Unless the 'plusier' size is obese. In no way do I advocate obesity, but if your BMI is normal and your general health is good, you shouldn't be worrying about your weight. Anyway I think in 90% of the cases, the whole idea of fashion modelling is flawed. not only does it make physical appearance central, but also because of the way it tries to define 'normal'.
we all know she is perfect, the problem is the size. human bones can be small or big, it depends of your genetic. that's it. maybe a TALL girl who has small bones try to buy some clothes and then the problem appears, cuz this model is big. not fat. i think..
3:00 - 3:17 This has some ground-shattering implications in a good way. Drug addiction is a sad experience and sucks greatly. It needs to not exist for anyone, heh.
I love Myla, she's beautiful, and she's real. "What do you do? I do a lot of laundry and I get naked." But this as we should all know is what's really wrong with fashion, and even tho it's changing now, it will always be a problem. There's nothing wrong with your body, and you don't need to do anything to change it that you really don't want to do. Definitely no pills or cosmetic surgery or injections or any of that stuff. Be yourself, love yourself, be happy in your own skin. And eat what you want. Bless you all in your struggles.
She looks like Keira Knightley! They could be sisters. But anyway. She's amazing. So cool. And that body - beautiful! She's kinda athletic and all. Really cool. And her eyes are just unreal.
This poor woman could have died trying to fit an unrealistic ideal. So glad she survived and is now happy and healthy. I really enjoy these stories they are very relatable.
who ever made this video can you please contact Myla Dalbesio and let her know THANK YOU!! she is the first model i have ever related to. I myself am an "inbetweenie" to big for skinny girls and to small for plus sizes, i am a size 10-12 depending on the clothes. We are not a very large population us inbetweeners but she has the power to become our voice. :)
She's gorgeous and while my body doesn't look like hers we are probably in that same in-between size. It is awesome to see someone that finally kind of looks like you. That's where you have been hiding. The rest of us that are not size zero or plus size need to see more of that in-between size.
im a UK size 12/14 and 5'7, and its so hard to find models that i can relate to and i think us 'inbetween' 'average' woman need to be heard, because for years as a younger teen and even now i search models that are as close to my size as possible simply to try and find a way to be seen a beautiful, which i shouldn't but my self esteem is and has always been very low..
You are truly beautiful inside and out and at least you realized what you were doing to yourself and have come out of it that's really good of you a lot of people don't you should be proud of yourself and hopefully your boyfriend is too keep that youthful attitude I know this is long after this is posted but you're great
I have been overweight for over 10 years now and I know that the lense that I view other women through is distorted at times. I was never heavy growing up. Even though I was a “normal” size I became bulimic for over a decade. I see this beautiful woman and hear that she is not thin enough for a straight size modeling job and I am shocked. I’m shocked and reminded how f*cked up our media image is and how the industry is built upon unrealistic standards and creates an atmosphere of competition among women on who is the most worthy based upon who is most willing to sacrifice your self love, happiness and health in order to fit into the “industry standard”.
I like this series, but it would be much better if the women disrobed either not at all or on their own accord. I find it really disquieting to hear the directors always barking orders to remove certain articles of clothing. It doesn't matter if it's by a man or woman -- women should not be directed to remove their clothes under any circumstances, if it was an organic thing or when they were told at the beginning gradually take your clothes off or even given silent cues it would work better.

Really? She's on her journey, true, but the road she's on right now I would definitely not wish upon you. No matter how anyone tries to justify it, a woman doing porn is a woman in pain. I was very surprised to see this video in the series. Please, love yourself enough to NEVER fall into porn! !!!!!
Looking at her, it Ames me wonder what she is stressing about- she is beautiful , her body is beautiful, I was a bodybuilder and as a male I went through the same feelings as she is experiencing, I understand that but It’s not something that should ruin your life. But it almost did me.
this really really REALLY speaks to me as a size 6/8 model who just has not found it possible to get down to a size 0/2. everyone told me to "go to the gym more" looool i do go to the gym -- so what they're really telling you in coded language is to eat less. because going to the gym is not going to put you under an 18.5 BMI unless that is your natural body type (totally fine), OR you stop eating enough calories a day. it scares me to think about putting less fuel in my body than what it needs. but instead of quitting, since i love modeling, i'm just ignoring the comments, and shooting with the photographers who wanna shoot with me ^.^ you go Myla!! wish there would be more inbetween models and celebs in the media. maybe then people would stop calling people like Kate Upton, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato "fat" for gaining a few pounds. smh.
SLU....it's good that you're getting a lot of press, I guess it's great for the brand. You've found a winner. side note: can you do more closets? those are my favorite.
Wow less then three minutes in and I already have such a crush on her. She's so articulate and interesting and beautiful... haha I hope she still lives in NYC ^.*
I've gotten to the point now that I see food as being a weakness - I will eat a good meal but feel that I have to work it off at night, and I never know what I want to eat because I wish I didn't have to. I worry that I'll always have that guilt, does it ever go away?
In my opinion there should definately be a market for "medium sized models" cuz the average person is somewhat medium sized and why plus and freakin skinny but no medium? #mediumgirls #whospissednow :D
These videos remind me of TED talks but more intimate. It really helps me feel more comfortable in my skin and mindset.
Now that is the size models should normally be. She looks amazing. Love her body type.
I feel her so much. As a size 8 'inbetweener' it's hard to find your place. you're not skinny, you're not ultra curvy, we are just 'meh'
it is completely insane that a demographic that is in reality probably the biggest, is no market in fashion. How is that possible. Like a healthy "average" size body is not represented. +Tinnuthel yes! all body types should be represented in media...it would make a huge difference for young girls and boys
Tinnuthel a girl getting emotional? No way!
That’s what beauty is! You’re beautiful BECAUSE there is no one else like you! You ARE beauty
this is my favorite channel on youtube wow
It's interesting how our desire to express ourselves in our clothes is so linked to consumerism. +Hunter Mathis Profiting off of induced self-hate. Welcome to the western world. Well said!
A real woman inside and out. Food is fucking great. Thank you!!
I can't stop watching your videos, its exactly what i needed right now. Thank you.
Anyone that would even remotely call this girl "plus size" is a raving lunatic.
She’s one of the people that helped me try to recover from my eating disorder
She looks like Phoebe Tonkin. And I m binge-watching the vids on this channel. Also, I LOVE her body. My dream body.
+Katie George me too right now!!
sameee
+Katie George seriously i can not stop watching these vids they are so inspiring!
These videos aren't for you to look at other people and wish you looked like them, it's about understanding that you don't have to look like anyone but you. Take care and love your body and it will become its best form it can be on its own. 😊

wow, her body is the most amazing shape and size I've seen so far and I wished i had a body like that :O
You and I both; this woman is stunning.
She's so beautiful
the inbetween. She's not a plus size model the other are just minus sized models.
She seems like a really sweet, thoughtful and well-spoken person
Wow, listen to her message. She is spitting truth. There is so much sin in our society.
I know what she met by inbetweeners. I'm one and I'm short, and my kind of body is never represented anywhere. And where I live, many women and girls look like me,
Love!!! She's a girl I would totally hang with ♥

I think it's strong of her to open up us it must've been so incredibly difficult to even utter out how she truly felt
Amazing, both mentally and physically. I just want to hug her. I feel so bad for young people struggling with selfworth in part because of the fashion industry and influencers.
This is a beautiful lady. I ❤️ her.
she's so extremely fucking gorgeous
The honesty of these women!
She reminds me a bit of Olivia Wilde
wtf she's so healthy!!! Ya she's not "skinny" because she truly eats!! She's healthy!!!!!
Audrey Roney i think shes pretty skinny....
she reminds me of a mix between allison williams and olivia wilde
how is she a plus size model.. i dont get it , shes perfect..
galatea1995, are you implying that plus size models are imperfect?

Drug addiction is a sad experience and sucks greatly. It needs to not exist for anyone, heh.

I love these wow...and she is so stunning, but everybody already knows that(:
I love Myla, she's beautiful, and she's real. "What do you do? I do a lot of laundry and I get naked." I'm an in-between-ie
She said exactly how I feel
She looks like Keira Knightley! They could be sisters.
But anyway. She's amazing. So cool. And that body - beautiful! She's kinda athletic and all. Really cool.
And her eyes are just unreal.
I do agree but she also reminds me more of daisy ridley from star wars
you have blown me away myla.. this hits so many things on the head! You are inspiring! Thank you so much.
Beautiful! Thank you💕
these videos have given me such a wake up call and have honestly inspired me to love myself. I'm so happy that I stumbled upon these videos
she looks like daisy ridley, she is so beautiful
so true
yet another victory. continue please.
Those look like the most comfortable jeans in existence. I'm so jealous.
I am so thankful for this video and for Myla sharing her story so candidly.
She has so much more to share. Why not give her more time?
Beautiful woman..amazing person.
she is stunningly beautiful! and has a healthy figure as well! very well spoken and sincere video.
Yay for drug addiction recovery and body acceptance!
Myla Dalbesio
is fascinating.
As an artist, we see beauty and art in everyone...
We don't need to compare an image of 1 womans shape to another womans shape.
Or any shape of any human.
A "big girl" with her ass eating her lime green bathing suit and a fishnet coverup IS NOT THE USUAL. IT BECOMES a piece of art.
Contrasts between skin color and fabric color.
Textures
Shapes
The view consumes an artist from a deep within aesthetic place.
Its actually such a beautiful feeling.
Entirely separate from whether or not it's my business to consider if their weight is "unhealthy".
If they're unhealthy?
That's their business.
My artist self just see's arrangements of colors and shapes and textures.
MYLA DALBESIO SO PRETTY HERE !!!
Ugh... going through addiction right now, and I know how you feel.... This shit gets SO hard and it's just fucking exhausting all the time...
"I used to really like, wallow in my sadness- and I HATE that now"
She is soo beautiful and anyone who says the contrary is blind
finally a model close to my size and also gorgeous inside out! :) you inspire me ♡ keep up the good work staying healthy and genuinely yourself 😘
She said "radical"...that's radical.
she's such a role model
Really? She's on her journey, true, but the road she's on right now I would definitely not wish upon you. No matter how anyone tries to justify it, a woman doing porn is a woman in pain. I was very surprised to see this video in the series. Please, love yourself enough to NEVER fall into porn! !!!!!
+Sonia Helen Ponce she doesn't do porn, she was using it as an example of trying to represent strong women in sex work :)
Looking at her, it Ames me wonder what she is stressing about- she is beautiful , her body is beautiful, I was a bodybuilder and as a male I went through the same feelings as she is experiencing, I understand that but It’s not something that should ruin your life. But it almost did me.
i like her. she seems like she'd be really fun to hang out with
You freaking rock, Myla!!
she is stunning
Bless your heart! You are beautiful.
this really really REALLY speaks to me as a size 6/8 model who just has not found it possible to get down to a size 0/2.
everyone told me to "go to the gym more" looool i do go to the gym -- so what they're really telling you in coded language is to eat less.
because going to the gym is not going to put you under an 18.5 BMI unless that is your natural body type (totally fine), OR you stop eating enough calories a day.
it scares me to think about putting less fuel in my body than what it needs. but instead of quitting, since i love modeling, i'm just ignoring the comments, and shooting with the photographers who wanna shoot with me ^.^ you go Myla!! wish there would be more inbetween models and celebs in the media. maybe then people would stop calling people like Kate Upton, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato "fat" for gaining a few pounds. smh.
she's so beautiful
This girl is smart and amazing.
7:48 She called it. Thanks Calvin Klein LOL
I love herrrrrrrr omggggggggg 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Crazy that there is no market for the average size woman...
She's frickkin beautiful and I love love love her style. I want to be her friend so bad!
Oh my god she is so beautiful
SLU....it's good that you're getting a lot of press, I guess it's great for the brand. You've found a winner. side note: can you do more closets? those are my favorite.
Wow less then three minutes in and I already have such a crush on her. She's so articulate and interesting and beautiful... haha I hope she still lives in NYC ^.*
This is an amazing project! I love watching the vids! :)
Myla is so gorgeous and genuine
I've gotten to the point now that I see food as being a weakness - I will eat a good meal but feel that I have to work it off at night, and I never know what I want to eat because I wish I didn't have to. I worry that I'll always have that guilt, does it ever go away?
sometimes i remember that i'm gay... this is one of those moment. this is one of my fav channel too...
In my opinion there should definately be a market for "medium sized models" cuz the average person is somewhat medium sized and why plus and freakin skinny but no medium? #mediumgirls #whospissednow :D
Perfectly beautiful whatever size you are..❤️ so strong 💪
