Seriously, I’m not one to brag but this Chili recipe has placed MANY TIMES now in various Chili Cookoffs. I’m not kidding, and it not only came in 2nd place against nine other NON-Vegan entries... it happened in TEXAS!

Don’t know what it is about your video, but you’re the only chili recipe I’ve been able to watch entirely without feeling instantly discouraged to. Simple, straight to the point, no fancy editing. Just chili and chill and witty commentary. Love ittt! Thank you so much!
I feel the same way!!! I have been watching this video for years and always share it to others!!! It’s the only kind of chili I will ever make❤
Holy smokes! Just made this and had it for dinner 3 nights in a row. This was hands-down the most flavorful chili I’ve ever eaten. Didn’t even miss the meat. Thanks for the recipe!
Sounds amazing can't wait to try it!
Many thanks for the recipe. I've recently gone plant-based for health reasons, and I used to compete in chili contests in OK and TX in my younger days. I'm still learning how to do without the meats I used to use, and my competition grade chili had no beans - so this is a whole new world! I just tried your recipe the last night for the first time, and other than a couple personal tweaks (i.e. I love to add chiptle's with adobo sauce for a smoky kick), this recipe really felt like chili to me. Chili is the one thing I've missed, and you really nailed it. The bulgur and the masa are pure brilliance
keep it up i wth plant-based. im ill its good for health but i do it for ethical reason first, my health come second :D keep it up
Yes! How are you feeling? I see this was 8 months ago!?
Gabriel Gamer my priorities are health, planet, ethics. Really no reason not to do it.
Kurt McDowell glad to hear it Kurt. One year for me, one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
"Plant based for health reasons ..." in other words, out of selfishness. Be on the look out for the fake vegans and vegetarians.
I cooked this chili and it was REALLY, REALLY good. I eat it for one week.
Jacqueline Lovest omg girl that’s crazy
same
Made this today. It's fantastic. Filling. Delicious. Only change was I used a whole can of vegetarian refried beans and 16oz can tomato sauce. Thank you so much for sharing.
I’ve been following this recipe for about 2 year now and yes! It is the best damn vegan chili. Watching it again today bc this is what’s for dinner!
Made this tonight, and it’s excellent! I used a poblano instead of the green pepper as my husband hates green bell peppers, used portabellas as you mentioned in the recipe since I couldn’t find bulgur, and I ground some cornmeal a little finer in my food processor since I was unable to find masa. Definitely adding it to the rotation! Thank you!
That's a great tip about grinding corn meal. I only see masa in 2kg bags, and I have no other use for it, so I'd rather not buy it.
I made this tonight. Followed the recipe to the letter. I'm a beef in my chilli guy and for this being a a vegan hippie dish, this is a 8/10 for sure (I was very surprised).. Plenty of texture, plenty of heft, plenty of flavor. You really won't even notice the bulgar in it, just a bit more texture but does nothing to the flavor. I did't use the jalepeno's but just a small squeeze of sriracha on my bowl cause my kid doens't like spicy. It was VERY good. My thoughts. First, you won't need the corn flour. It will be thick enough when you add the refried beans. I actually had to add about 3/4 cup more broth to thin it down a bit. Second, use ALL of the chilli powder. No joke. I don't know if it's the refried beans or what but this really needs that extra and doesn't heat it up. Third, top with some fresh chopped onion and a dollop of sour cream. I make a very good from scratch chilli and this one is actually contest worthy. Also note if you don't have the corn flour, you can take a handful of corn tortilla chips and spend a few minutes with a mortar and pestle and get the same effect. Just grind till it's a fine powerder. I used the ground tortilla chips as a topping with the onions and it was spot on. Great recipe, easy to make, and very tasty. Yeah food!! P.S. You could add a small can of green chillis to this, or even a half can of corn. Use your imagination. It will take all of what you want to give it. As a matter of fact, because you can add to it without taking anything away from the recipe, i'm chaning my rating to a 9/10. Your tummy will be happy.
5 star recipe! Just made this with the bulgar wheat and it is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing. Love that there is no oil.
I made this last night and it is so flavorful and hearty..I put some daiya cheddar shreds in it along with some diced up avocados and hot sauce on top..so delicious..thank you!
I used the trader joes " cheese" and it was so good! yum avocados!!!!
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I made this for my family a few weeks ago and they loooooved it!!!
I just found your website and hope to see more out of this channel with the recent uptick in activity. Love your stuff, thank you!
Thank you so much! I’ve recently transitioned over to the Vegan 🌱 life and Homemade Chili is one of my favorite dishes! I’ll definitely be trying your recipe 😊😋
I took inspiration from your garlic peeling. I didn't like using my hand to smash, ouch, so I repurposed my meat tenderizer mallet thing, and gave it a good whack. Worked beautifully. Thank you so much for teaching your technique.
I had low expectations because of the self proclaimed "best", but I was pleasantly surprised! I really like the texture of this chile, thank you.
Big back handed compliment!
It’s not self proclaimed if he has won several awards with this chili
Really good chili! My family loves it, I've made it twice already. Thank u
MsK Nspyers I'm glad to hear such good reviews, I'm really excited to try it out 🙂
Yes, I love chilli too! Are you going to make it this year?
Looks incredible!!! I will be trying this recipe on a dutch oven over an open fire this weekend. I hope it comes out half as good as yours LOL
tried this recipe this Saturday and it turned out great ! don't be afraid of the chili powder, I'm not a huge spicey food guy and I had no issues with this recipe.
This was REALLY good! Thank you so much for the recipe!
I’ve just made this for the second time, this time using Textured Vegetable Protein for the “meaty” texture. It’s so delicious! Here’s the most impressive thing - it’s one of the only (non-baking/pastry) recipes I’ve ever followed that is perfectly seasoned as written. That’s AMAZING. I’m a confident cook, and I like things well seasoned, so I always add and fiddle until the flavor is where I want it... but, this, I didn’t have to at all. Well done, Chuck!
If you don’t mind me asking, how much of the TVP did you use?
Super excited to try this recipe tonight. It is chili and sweater weather here in NC so I’m really looking forward to it!!
When I tell you this chili is AWESOME! just made it and I’m beyond happy. Thanks for such a great recipe !
I love your channel and recipes! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos for us!! B
Tried and true. I did not notice the meat was missing from this dish and I did not use the bulgar for texture, it was perfect after adding the refried beans. So good!
I was looking for something I could make with the ingredients I have here (the market is closed) and I don't even have half of it. BUT NOW I WANT THIS CHILI SO BAAAD!
I just made this for dinner tonight for my sisters and I, and we all loved it. They were so impressed! It was so delicious. Thank you for sharing your recipe! Will continue to use it! 🥰
Wow this looks really good! It’s time for some chilli in this cold weather. You must be a great grandpa with that skill of cooking👍🏻
And also really appreciate your cutting skill, thanks for sharing those tips.
I Won 🏆 my first place vegan chilli contest using your incredible easy chilli set up.. I dug the simplicity and the thousand of compliments that your recipe brought thanks a million
That is awesome!
Looks yummy. Trying this tomorrow. Great site and videos. I had heard of you but hadn't really investigated. Good stuff. I was missing out.
This is so awesome. I've made this chili and it's delicious. Plus, the southern accent chef cooking vegan recipes is just classic.
Haha your the best!! I love your enthusiasm 😂
This is amazing by the way, tried it myself with little tweaks 👌🏼👌🏼
This is our favorite Chili! Thank you for sharing your recipe!
Just made this for the first time tonight and it's a keeper. Thanks for sharing!
My goodness. I was looking for a vegan chili recipe for my crumbles but I am inspired to do it exactly like yours Chuck. Wow!
How did it go? Did you make it?
I am watching it now and this video just makes me smile, wow, amazing. Sad that I didn't watch it before. Tonight will do chilli for sure ;)
Hope you keep doing this. Thank you
Looks amazing! Thanks for the inspiration! I'll try the bulgar and masa, I currently also add TVP and liquid smoke to mine.
Highly recommended! I made this tonight. My husband and SIL enjoyed it. Chili was spicy for me and I left out the Chipotle chili pepper. I didn't have fresh garlic, I used about a heaping tablespoon of jarred chopped garlic. My meat substitute was finely chopped fresh mushrooms. I had my chili over rice, hubby and SIL had theirs over cornbread. Thanks so much!
stoked to try out some of your recipes! Just started this no oil vegan thing and I'm glad to find a channel with some good looking stuff.
I'm not a great cook but this sounded both good and easy to make so I made it for me and my mom (who is not a vegan) and she not only said it was really good but she said I'd have to make it again!!! She's never said that before about my cooking... Definitely a recipe for the books, so thank you!
Jessie NoneYaBiz hi, with practice, you’ll be the best cook ever! Love from Paris, not Texas, France. 😂🥰
This is my favorite Chili by far! My friends and family love it also, thank you very much for the recipe!!
Ill have to try this one specifically, I always just throw it together!
Made this tonight and it was delicious, my go to chili recipe.
Hello! I tried your recipe and it’s definitely a keeper!!! I made a few adjustments just so I can have more veggies. I added carrots and celery. I wasn’t able to find the masa but the chili was thick from the refried beans. Thank you for the recipe!
Wow...glad I found you. I'm new to the lifestyle and your recipes are really helping out. Thank you.
I can't wait to make this! Thank you!
This chili was VERY GOOD!! Thanks for sharing kind Sir. I enjoyed the the vid too, it's straight to the point and super chill as well.✌
Made this recipe for a few years now. Never gets old, can't even tell there isn't added fat. ❤❤❤
This is the feakin best vegan chilli. I have added ancho chillies and it takes it to another level too.
Great recipe! I cannot wait to try it. By the way, thanks for keeping the video brief and to the point. I like that it's only 5 minutes long :)
Thank you for sharing your ideas with us! Your channel is inspiring.
Just made this today - AMAZING!! Can't Thank You enough for helping us all stay healthy with old favorites transformed. I think I might eat it again tomorrow with Lentil spaghetti or Rice noodles, definitely a one meal day. Whew it's so filling and delicious that it checks off a few of those "craving" boxes.
I just cooked these amazing chili vegan beans the way you demonstrated… it was so freaking amazing . Thank you, thank you. I had to follow you.. what’s next on the meal

THANK YOU Chuck, the Brand New Vegan!!! Because of your chili, I won at a chili cook-off! PLUS I'm enjoying some tasty chili leftovers the next day.
I'm making this for the third time today. Such a good recipe! Thanks for sharing
Made this tonight, it was delicious and my whole family loved it! I couldn’t find bulgar so I subbed kamut wheat and it turned out awesome!! Thank you
The knocks in the kitchen mentioned you. Looks like great recipes. I’m new to WFPB diet.
Well this is the first chili I have ever tried, and I REALLY like it 🤩 Thank you for sharing!
Perfect for a busy student!
SO good!!. I omitted the jalapeños and added an extra can of black beans. Very hearty and flavorful.
Thank you for the awesome recipe!
I didn't have any caned diced tomatoes so I used fresh ones out of the garden and sauteed them with my onions, peppers, and garlic.
I used a whole can of refried beans.
And I didn't have any of the fancy thicker you used, so I used the good old corn starch trick.
I also used garbanzo beans instead of kidney beans. 😘
It was fabulous! Had it with vegan cornbread muffins.
Thank you! 🖤
Wow!! Looks fantastic! I’m making this for my birthday -today!! Thank you Chuck!! Merry Christmas to you!!
Wow. You are right. This is excellent chile. So good I had to subscribe to see what else you're cookin' up. Thanks for sharing. Giddyup from Vancouver Island.
I AM NEW TO PLANT BASE EATING THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR YUMMY DELICIOUS RECIPES AND TIME
I just made this and it was so delicious!! Thank you!
WOW...Just made this chili !!! It was absolutely wonderful!!! I live in Texas and it was so just like good Texas chili and I didn't even miss the beef. I can see why this has won many contests. I became vegan because of health issues. The first bean chili I made I threw away with a receipe from someone else. I used Better than Boullion low sodium beef Boullion because that is what I had and it nailed it....Got that on Amazon. Thank you so much.
Hello from New Zealand. I am on my 3rd day of a whole food plant based diet and I'm on the hunt for great new food recipes and ideas. This looks amazing! I love spicy so this should be yum. Will try it this week and let you know what I think. Best wishes
Made this for supper, thinking I would have leftovers for the week. I served it over baked potatoes and my carnivore boys ate it up. Nobody noticed there was no meat. Thanks, Chuck! This one was a hit in my house!
What a great idea!!
Made this for my family and it was a home run!!! Thank you so much ❤️👍
This looks super delicious!!! Making my grocery list now. Can't wait to try it!
Thank you ! Recently started whole food plant based diet which changed my health for the better in many ways. This is a great recipe and will try making this.
Tried this 2 nights ago...REALLY excellent! I added smoked paprika and it helped even more...it came out nice and thick, probably due to the refried beans! So glad I tried it...I didn't use the bulgur but might try that next time! THANK YOU!
This looks delicious! I cant wait to try it I'm thinking of adding quinoa 😊
Just discovered you on CZcams and viewed some of your recipes online. All I have to say 'you are my man '. Trying to find plant based recipes is not easy. Also, I can adjust them for gluten free.
Thx. a million
I have made this recipe several times and it always tastes amazing! I had some extra 3 layer hummus with jalapeño and red pepper that I added and it was chefs kiss! 👩🍳
Thank you so much! This looks so yummy I’m going to try and make it right now ❤️
Wow this looks amazing! I'm so glad I happened upon this I'm definitely going to try this recipe!

I just made this following the recipe almost exactly and it is really really good. best chili i've ever had probably
I'm not vegan but I tried this last week. It's great! Love and thanks from the UK.
This is my favorite recipe, thank you so much!
I made this last night and it was so so good 😋. I added some brown sugar, black beans (because I didn’t have any pinto beans), 3 bay leaves, Cajun seasoning, and cilantro for garnish.
Absolute PERFECTION!!!!! Eating a big bowlful right now
Great video and fantastic recipe chuck, best wishes.
Mmmm I'm going to try this it looks so good. Thank you.
Just made this…. It is out standing… at the end I added just a tad of maple syrup… just a tad for a little sweetness and it’s amazing❣️
I’m trying it this weekend, can’t wait!
Made this exactly how you said in the recipe and it was spectacular.
My next cooking day, this is on the menu. Made too many soups this winter!!!
I didn't have masa but found out I could drop some corn tortillas in the blender and get a snappy substitute. Also, didn't have bulgur and was going to substitute couscous. Then I tasted it...OMG YUM! I left that out. I also added celery and mushrooms to my saute' veggies because they would otherwise waste in my fridge. It was a use it or lose it situation. This chili is on point. Thank you so much for posting.
I did it today for lunch
Boy!! It was delicious. Easy and not expensive at all
Awesome recipe, can't wait to try it and incorporate it into my meal plan!
absolutely fantastic chili! I didn't put as much chili powder, but added some sriracha to it at the end and wow! thank you for this recipe!
Best tutorial for vegan chili! 10/10 and five stars!
Looks good Chuck ... Jeanne will have to make it for me. Videos are great! :)
You had me interested at "refried beans". I bought a can out of curiosity and had no idea what to do with it 😂 and your recipe just did the trick. I made it last night and it tastes so meaty and rich! I'm bringing some to my meat eating sister and nephew.... fingers crossed. Thank you for sharing your recipe. You've really helped me on my plant-based journey.
What did they say
Thank you for this!!
Bless you for sharing i cant wait to try it!
Chuck, I was never a Chili eater, but after making your Chili, I tell everyone , vegan or not, this is THE BEST!!! Your showing and talking about your recipe as you go along, makes is not only tempting, but also easy to make. Thank you so much for being here!!! I check every day to see if you've put a new video on. The videos are perfect!!!!
