Can we all take a minute to appreciate and applaud the creators of The Flash for their decision to get Caitlin out of that pantsuit and into a top, jeans and a leather jacket?
I liked it, she looked more jovial and not the group's mother as she seemed in the other seasons but she seemed a bit uncomfortable in it

The best explanation I can think of for why Caitlin is the only meta-human that changes personality when she uses her powers is that she is actually mentally ill. Something about using her powers for the first time must have been so scary that it triggered a psychotic break.

I find that highly unlikely. The Flash is a superhero from DC that has superhuman speed abilities. Unless you have the same abilities as him, you wouldn’t even be able to come close as moving at nearly the same speed as the Flash.

It's almost like people forgot the first season was cheesy and fun. They've literally wiped out all the drama people have been complaining about and yet people complain that it's "cheesy". I'd like to see people back up the claims of terrible writing and acting.

I asked a question in the last season 'how we should even care about Vibe vs Killer Frost, if we don't even understand Vibes power?'. He opens portals and... supposed to be very powerful? Or not? I don't get how his projectiles work and why Killer Frost vs Vibe is a good match up. Do I even need to remind of the Flashpoint? Rival? A super dragged out reveal of a villain to the point everyone already guessed right, who it is? Main villain becoming more cliche and uninteresting with every season? A formula, that hasn't changed for 3 three seasons? And, for God's sake, the fact, that any rule this show builds, can be broken, and consequences beaten with stuff out of nowhere. Speedster messing with time - Black Flash goes after them. What's the solution? Killer Frost kills him, cuz he doesn't like cold. A demon of lightning - killed by a frost villain. If Mr Freeze and Captain Cold become speedsters, speedforce would be powerless then. That's why we presume the worst, if we're not convinced in something.
Hellary Ren saying "Iris west" isn't an explanation. He literally explains how now that he's out, he feels reborn and has gotten over his parents death and things like that. The writers way of saying "that's in the past".
I don't really understand most of your reasons for the bad writing, and except for season 3 (which I agree, was drawn out) is just you saying a scenario and the the solution. Not really saying _why_ it's bad. For the record, I meant people were saying this episode has bad writing. The show can be cheesy at times but it has great writing and a great cast.
I'm not going to go explaining why most of your reasoning doesn't have really any precedence, as you just spit off a bunch of random moments (like "Rival?". What about that was bad?), so I guess I'll just leave it at if you don't seem to like the show, why are you on the video
Well I do like this show, that's why I'm here. Rival was kind of a waste. Maybe I was expecting a bit more of him, then being just a little minion, that could kill Wally West.
Iris is just Barry's girl/wife. I mean, it's not bad, she's just... really replaceable in the team, if you take out a fact she's his wife.
This episode is not bad, in fact, it's great, but it has some parts, that leave weird sense of confusion in how easy it was.

"this house is bitchin" is something Cisco says in an earlier season. it was either at Oliver's penthouse or supergirl's house. Barry was literally writing down everything hes ever heard and seen AND everything he will hear and see. he was basically living his entire life all at once. I also got a Dr. Evil vibe from the Thinker and I feel like his costume/reveal could be less Dr. Evil esque. All in all everything was pretty good. Arrow tonight!!!

This premiere was fantastic and so good to have this show back. Iris is the leader and is a bigger focus, and Candice Patton is killing it. Simple as that.

This premiere was disappointing to me, they way they just brought Barry back after making it feel like it would be difficult to do in the Season 3 finale, I think he should've came back at like Episode 3 or 4. And then the way he just remembered because Iris was taken I didn't buy that. But regardless I feel the tone of the show has changed since season 3, it's more lighthearted and fun again which is a good thing. And I'm interested in a villain without speed I hope that turns into something great. Compared to season 3 I'm feeling this season can do better and it will hopefully.

I'm so glad y'all enjoyed seeing Iris as the leader as much as I did. She killed it. The episode was a good and promising start to the hopefully amazing season. Loved the action sequences and I like the Caitlin has her own side story that doesn't involve having a love interest...finally! Digging the new suit too. Looking forward to episode 2 it looks so funny!

I think that as long as Caitlin tries to control Frost by burying her along with her bad feelings like grief and anger, this flip flop thing will continue to happen. If she finds a way to deal with her feelings in a healthy way she may end up going to a place where she can live more in harmony with her powers and have more control over them as Caitlin. I think Season 4 is going to be all about people finding therapists who can work their crap out. I hope there is a new Wells this year and that he becomes a therapist to the superhero community.

So what I want to know...was barry smart in physics before he went into the speedforce? Before he was a forensic scientist...they use minor physics to find out the distance and projectory of blood or the crime scene...but he appears to have gotten more towards barry from the comics smart.

I think Barry ended up in Smallville twice in this episode. The first time when he exited the Speedforce and stopped naked in front of the farmers truck, the second time at the windmill farm.
So, 2 seasons later, Barry was finally at least as fast as Zoom (because both speedsters were able to use their speed when their powers should otherwise be dampened. And the fact that Barry wasn't fully in his right mind when he did so gives him the excuse he needed, seeing as later on he can't phase through the cells.
So Iris became a tech genius in 6 months? She said she programmed a simulation for Kid Flash to train.

''This House is Bitchin' " seems like something Bart Allen may say. And that specifically is supposed to stick with us as they built up the reveal of the phrase and they later asked Barry as well - in a time where we realize that he's unaware of anything he said or how he even saved Iris.
After watching this reaction I kinda feel that if they did not bring barry back for like 2-3 ep and then made this kind of an ep, it would have been even better

I think we'll definitely see an episode that starts with Barry going into the Speedforce at the end of S3 with Nora, and what happened to him in there. The Speedforce is too big of a thing in the Flash just to be glossed over and Barry somehow not remember anything.
Last year the early episodes and the talk out of comic con was Alchemy. After a few episodes they transitioned into Savitar. If they are introducing Davoe this early in the season makes me think the same bait and switch is gonna happen and we have not seen the real villain of the year yet.

Barry's weird writing reminded me of the Kree writing in shield. Like coulson didn't know why he was writing it but then it served a purpose so I think Barry's writing will have some purpose later on.
The way I looked at it, is that the Quark Sphere (the red ball) only tricks the prison which was made by Team Flash, not the Speedforce itself.

The symbols that Barry was writing looks like the Kryptonian language that was used in Smallville.
Not really though. I know what Kryptonian language looks like and what Barry wrote doesn't resemble them.
It could be their own iteration of the Kryptonian language since the Smallville TV show and the Man Of Steel movie kryptonian language symbols are completely different. This could be their own version on the language.
The CW writers must also be Marvel fans because this Hulk reference is like the 4th Marvel reference in the Arrowverse
Wouldn't it be super good drama if Barry would revert back to that state of insanity after he saved Iris? Like whenever they desperately need the Flash, Barry is normal but after he saves the day, he goes back to blabbering nonsense and writing symbols. I feel that would make the drama more real and also keep that mystery of what is going on. PLUS, it allows for huge repercussions to continue past the first episode. That's just me though.

To me it seems like Her powers are like The Hulk type of thing it activates when she's mad or under some sort of stress. Perhaps they'll pull A Hulk and she'll take control her powers fully without 'getting frosty'.
I think and hope that his gibberish and writing comes back and that it has a plot building purpose. I don't know why but I like the gibberish from a storytelling point of veiw. It is so sad but powerfull at the same time.
You are right Eric, the Speedforce probably wouldn't be tricked. Which is why I think the Speedforce only intended for Barry to "do his sentence" so to speak. That last conversation with Iris in the end made me think that Barry feeling unburdened by his past and his guilt is probably an analogy to someone that was haunted by his past surrendering himself to the authorities to pay for his crimes. And now that he went through the experience, he can truly put his pasy behind him and move on with his life. That's how I see it anyway.

Everything went perfectly, no repercussion. The Speed Force wouldn't be so stupid. He seemed to be just an empty shell at first maybe he is just a decoy send by the Speed Force.
