*Iris* - Watches the man she loves go to his assumed death never to be seen again and after he returns lets out 6 months worth of pent up grief in one small outburst before talking it out with him like an hour later.
*Felicity* - Learns the man she loves had a son with someone else who forced him not to tell anyone or else he'd never be allowed to see his son again, dumps him a day later and spends the next year and a half berating him about how secrets and lies are wrong whilst keeping secrets and telling lies herself.
Yeah, they're *totally* the same.

More like... And then going on to tell him to shoot lightning at himself while not having any knowledge of science or how it could affect him and might even be life threatening as stated by a scientific genius seconds earlier. But has faith it won't kill him and will randomly work so he should trust her... that scene was total BS...
And you know this... how?
Would you have been okay with it if it had been Harrison Wells being the one telling him to hurl lightning at himself? Second, you don't need to be a scientific genius capable of building a Particle Accelerator to know that a lightning strike can damage electronics and stop them working. That's just common knowledge. And third, Barry has been struck by lightning multiple times throughout the series and hasn't died yet. So when the choice is 'Do this and you might die or do nothing and you will die because your scientific geniuses aren't coming up with any solutions themselves, the choice seems fairly obvious.
It’s interesting how Felicity is scolded for something that actually isn’t the case. Felicity didn’t break up with Oliver because he was blackmailed he DIDNT TRUST HER ENOUGH TO KEEP HER IN THE KNOW ABOUT SENDING HIS KID AWAY. In the same episode Oliver tells her he didn’t want William in his life if he didn’t know how to keep Felicity apart of it and two scenes later he sends his kid away without even talking to his FUTURE WIFE about sending his child that would be her step child away. Like Felicity said marriage is about inclusion and Oliver didn’t include her.

I like how Cisco makes a decent argument for each of the features he put into the suit (or at least each one that came up during their call). In my opinion, they should have really kept the Deadlock feature. If it just locks the suit onto him but doesn't have the control for someone to completely hijack his body like Killgore did, I don't see any serious downsides to that unless someone just wants to fuck with him and keep him from changing out of it, in which case he could just return to Star Labs and have Cisco fix it.

The character of flash/Barry was much more like I remember him growing up this episode so I really loved this episode lots of on point humour. Cisco was also excellent this episode.

Thought I recognised the guy who played Kurt weaver, he's from Smallville he played Stuart Campbell the computer hacker who eventually went on to work for Checkmate as the 'white Knight'. That was an awesome touch by the casting director!

I really liked Caitlyn this episode, she was just sort of there and she was funny giving advice and stuff I really like that, it's nice to see the old Caitlyn again it's bringing back memories of season 1.
Man, going back on this season never realized how good I had it. this season is actually pretty solid. Not just when you compare to the other ones it’s funny quirky, and definitely feels like how the flash character should be. They just double down way too much in the later seasons
That opening Barry scene, the first thing that went through my head was "He's wearing socks on a hardwood floor...I can't even get enough traction to walk normal-speed when I do that, how's he moving at super-speed doing it?"

It is. It was okay in first 2 seasons because it was used in proper and unique situations like the first episode and then Eobard using it to mess with Barry and in S2 it was his mom/Speedforce so it was special. But when Zoom used it in the finale of S2 it got old.

Of course she knows Barry had to go. But Barry was gone for 6. Months. Half a year. She has so much pent-up grief and sadness that she lets it out in a very human way, and then she and Barry talk about it and move on with their damn lives. Like sensible people.

Unlike Barry who seems to have just hit a reset button, she's human, sometimes humans have irrational feelings and sometimes they just need to let it out, that's the point of the whole therapy session.

Checked my phone 20 times to see if this was up. Blind Wave you guys are just what i need after a long day of work.
I agree with you that Iris' 'how could you leave me?' statement is pretty similar to Felicitys reaction to Oliver lying about his son. However, there is one notable difference - this didn't cause Iris and Barry to break off their marriage. They had an issue, they talked about it, and they got through it. That's what couples do.
Now for the line itself, I think the writers didn't think this one through. I think I get what the writers were going for, but at first glance, it really sounds like Iris is mad at Barry for doing something he had no choice in doing.
I do hope that the Barry and Iris drama stops, or slows down shortly. It's the only thing that I've disliked about this season, and I'm worried it will take over the show, see Arrow S4. I don't want to see that happen to the Flash.
So far season 4 has been really good, in my opinion. Cisco is back to being hilarious and lovable. There's a bunch of lighthearted fun, awesome action scenes, and an intriguing mystery surrounding the thinker. Let's not bog that down with relationship drama constantly. And when there is relationship drama, which there will be(look at which network it's on), make the characters explain themselves better. I think Gypsy and Ciscos little conflict this episode did that pretty well.
And you're right about that line emboldening people's hate for iris. Visit the flash subreddit and sort by new. 25% of the posts are people ranting about Iris.
It's showing how much of her grief she suppressed and now has to confront. She has some serious issues to work through, as anyone would having their love basically die and then come back.

The sub is even full of people bitching about the 'we're the flash' line. Barry has said something similar on 3 or 4 different occasions. No one cared. Iris says it and people bitch constantly since the second it happened.
Like it or not, even Barry stated that theres no The Flash without Iris. And now, shes the one that say it but in different wording. As for the bit where shes upset that Barry just left him, thats the exact feeling that portrayed again and again when people have their loved one passed away or just left them for good even if they know they can't help it but the feeling is still there.
Shes the anchor and the home of Barry as a character. The legendary DC romance. She doesnt have to be useful as in how Caitlyn and Cisco are useful, the only thing that matter is that she matter the most for Barry.
Why. This. Is. So. Hard. For. People. To. Understand.
Adhitya Risyad Bollocks. The Flash is the Flash with or without Iris. Also How selfish of Iris, Barry save the city and she got mad at him for it.
If Barry had come back and actually talked to Iris about the last six months instead of being blasé about anyone's lives for the matter especially his fiance instead of simply depositing back in as if nothing had changed Iris outburst never would have happened. Men AND women can know someone does things for the right reason but its hard to ignore the heartache over it. She had an outburst... one of VERY few after rough first day back to normalcy. She had unresolved emotions and its NORMAL. What shows both characters maturity is they both listened to the other and all Iris is saying is that being together means communicating. That its not the first time Barry has disappeared from her life makes it that much more valid. I like that the show acknowledges the characters can grow and from seasons past its no secret Barry has the most to learn.

I didn't mind that Barry came back so fast, as long as we get some extended section in a later episode showing what he saw and went through...
It's kind of like how people are complaining about not seeing Superman in the trailers for Justice League, but you KNOW everyone would trash DC if they revealed Superman's entrance in a trailer after the backlash of the Doomsday reveal.
The Smoking Skull pretty sure we aren't getting anything of what Barry experienced. After Barry saved iris in the first episode he said he didn't remember anything he remembered walking in to the speedforce with his mom and then coming out. The only way I see them showing Barry's experience is if he starts getting flashbacks that show him things from the speed force related to the thinker maybe
Something like that, I wouldn't mind seeing some flashbacks. The Thinker has been able to take over peoples' minds in the comics, right? Maybe Barry still has the memories of the Speed Force, he just needs to unlock them somehow...
Blind Wave: The eyes could be a reference to Bart Allen/Impulse with the white goggles or they could be getting closer to the white eyepieces in the comics. Also, the raft thing made Barry look like the Bouncing Boy from The Legion of Superheroes.

This was a really good episode, a big improvement on the premiere, it felt like season 1 again which is a great thing, the only problems I had with this episode was Wally he didn't have anything to do and Iris she was so sad without and now that he's back so upset "why did you leave me there standing all alone?" SERIOUSLY? She was starting to get annoying BUT by the end of the episode she redeemed herself to me. Overall good episode.
They should have cast Eric as Killgore. He's even nailed the line at the 11:07 mark.

All the Iris hate is so fucking annoying. She's fine. It's like after Felicity people actively search for a reason for her to be bad. They don't think about anything, they just listen and when they hear something slightly off to them they use it as an excuse.
RyanKlip A I hate her because she's useless and annoying a lot of the time. I also stopped watching Arrow at season 4 so I have no real hate for Felicity. Iris is just poorly written character with nothing to do except just be there. She's like background noise.

Has anyone else noticed that 85-90 percent of the Flash's confrontations could be solved with no real drama if Barry would just run in and punch the bad guy before they even knew he was there rather then stopping to talk and posture for the bad guy and the "damsel" in distress of the episode. Entire fight could have been negated if Barry just flashed in and gave the guy the shot before the guy could have even reacted. And it isn't like Barry doesn't know this. The little snips of hero action we get that is not related to the episodes main story he doesn't hang around and jabber its only on the weekly bad guy that suddenly he seems to get talkie.

Im loving season 4 so far. I cant stand commercials and prefer to binge watch it as the story flows much better. Still grinning at the car takedown- EPIC!

I always love your guys' reaction vids to the Flash. Thanks for having an in depth analysis and understanding of the whole couples therapy/Barry/Iris issues. I knew there would be hate on Iris as well. Both sides had valid points, she had every right to feel the way she felt, and Barry was in a huge time crunch to solve this dangerous situation. I think he could have taken 10 seconds to just be like, I think I gotta do this, there doesn't seem to be any other way right now. Then Iris could have been like, "ok, we will let this be a temporary solution, but don't give up we will figure out a way to get you out." But Barry was like, "bye girl! Promise me you'll move on." Like whaaaat?
Anyhow, I'm enjoying the season so far. The comedy is great (finally a lighthearted season!!) and the dialogue is snappier. Cisco was hilarious and the couples therapy was sooo adorably awkwardly funny. Looking forward to seeing more.

Iris was understandably upset and grief stricken when her fiance left. Yes, he had to save the city and in her head she knows that, but she had to live without him for six months, not knowing if he was alive or if he would come back at all.
and for Felicity, yes I've disagreed with some of the writing choices for her character (and for certain storylines in season 4), but I'm able to actually blame the writers, not the fictional characters. And I think in season 5, she really came a long way to understanding Oliver and apologizing for everything. and even if you don't like romantic Olicity, they still make a good team helping people and defeating villains.
You guys have to see things from iris' perspective. When Barry left, he volunteered himself and did it without any hesitation. Think of it this way, if Cisco never found out a way to bring him back he might be stuck there forever. Do you know how that would feel for her? Not good. And THEY are the flash its TEAM flash. Or else they would have died a while ago.
What about him? Can you imagine what it's like being stuck for eternity? Everybody forgets that for some reason.

But he chose to do it without hesitation not giving her a proper farewell or anything, just leaving so suddenly. SHE KNOWS that he had to do it but you think that just because she knew that it wouldn't hurt? Its still going to hurt regardless. Just like if your boyfriend/girlfriend had to break up with you because she's moving away. You know that she had to do it but that shit still hurts.

Wolf Nation until Caitlin came back everyone else was busy in the field, Cisco is now Vibe, Wally is Kid Flash and Joe is doing his job, there was nobody else to be mission control. Now Caitlin is back but since Iris has had her position for sixth months now I doubt she’d give it up and Caitlin probably wouldn’t want it given hers has generally been a side support role, not to mention the whole killer frost thing she’s got going on.

Okay, is no one wondering why, instead of Barry going through that convoluted method of disarming his suit, we couldn't have had Wally take out the villain instead? They made a bit of a thing earlier in the episode about Barry needing to accept help from his allies, and it's already been suggested that Cisco didn't upgrade Wally's suit with the same sort of tech that he did for BA. Plus, wouldn't that make more sense than him following Iris' suggestion? I like her character, but why would Barry go with her gut instinct, over the advice of two highly qualified scientists? It isn't her field of expertise.

I don't think people understand how iris felt when Barry left imagine a situation where the man you loved for 20+ years just suddenly left in an instant without there being a time to properly say goodbye and only to return 6 months later like everything's good it's a realistic reaction and yes it was for the greater good but in that moment and the time ahead you would feel like shit
