Gonna give this a try for our Coleman pop up!

Nice! Do you know about the Coleman ABS plastic roof fix too? You can “melt” down airsoft BBs with acetone and brush that over any cracks in the plastic and it evaporates, leaving the plastic material

Nice fix! The zipper on our 1994 Coleman's awning bag needed replaced. I ordered V92 Nylon UV thread, 18 gauge needles and a new zipper and used my sewing machine to sew it in. A PITA project, but now I don't need to worry about causing an accident on the highway.

That is the ULTIMATE way to fix it, great job! I don't have those skills. I think a next step up from the grommets would be a hand awl.

@@LakeHubTV Ya, the awl would work. Obviously would take some patience. I got sick of paying a tailor to fix my clothes, so I bought a Singer M3300 for like $130 and just figured it out. Its really not hard and paid for itself 3x over so far. Now if it would just warm up I could paint our pop-up and mount the awning!

Just picked up a 2018 Forest River 2716 g popup....wouldn't trust the zipper to keep the awning and bars from dropping down while urr going down the road. I just got home with my trailer and touched the zipper and it came apart then the tie off straps were totally decayed,,,,,Im lucky i got home with my trailer without a accident. Going to have to pull the awning bag off and decide whether or not i want a new awning or not. Got the trailer for 9 k. So the awning issue not too big a deal

that might be a good candidate for a factory replacement... forest river is helpful in our experience with peculiar things like that. worth giving them a call

    Sewing a replacement
bag is actually very easy. A grommet is not going to solve the fact that the material is degrading 4:52

It is definitely not a 10 year solution! But so far it is a 2 year solution

I’m afraid mine is too dry rotted for this to even work. 😢

Great idea, how did you tie Paracord to stay in place.?

I only know the name as "the knot you use to tie a leash to your surfboard"... it's simple though. I made a fixed loop on each end of the cord, and then both loops went onto my roof latch. To make a fixed loop, you just fold one end over so you make a U, and then tie a regular overhand knot with both sides of the U together.
