Remember getting this game for Christmas alongside Shadow the Hedgehog lmao. Two janky PS2 games with negative reviews that both represented peak 2005 energy in their own ways. What a combination.
Shadow the hedgehog was a pillar of my childhood gaming experience I will always have love for that deeply cringe edgy game
Only wht ppl hated 50 game
@@yugimo5097 Oh so now we're racist for not liking a shitty game. Get over yourself.
@@yugimo5097 mid bait
For some reason I refused to play the games as I did think as a kid that it was for cash grabs only but looking now I missed out especially on BP2 lmao
I loved this game. This game will always have a special spot in my memory. The day I lost my v-card, I played this game right after in pure bliss. 10/10
Chill
That's so sad. And by sad I mean pathetic

One of the best thing about this game was being able to unlock music idc wt this point 50 cent was everybody's favorite rapper
Facts
50 was the biggest celebrity on the planet around this time
@@HonkeyKong54 we all had the fake spinner chains from the dollar store
Man, we got the wildest shit in the mid 2000’s, didn’t we?
So many weird games, I love it. Developers weren't scared to take chances
This was legit one of my favourite games alongside max Payne🤣
I miss this time period
Great time for video games
Yeah mon.
This is such a refreshingly honest look at this game. I was a dev on this, so long ago. One tiny wrong thing, Genuine Games wasn't a Scottish company, we had an office in Woodland Hills, in "The Valley" at the edge of LA.
It was a very short dev cycle, but the team had a ton of talent and a lot of love went into its making. It could have been better, it plays like a game in mid development, but needed to get out the door for whatever business and marketing reasons made sense at the time and so it did.
Wow, that's interesting! Did u happen to be there and work on fight club as well? My most recent video is on that game and would love some insider info haha
@@MrHammers Afraid not, I was only there for this one. Bulletproof was built on the same codebase as Fight Club, pretty impressive considering how different the games are. Back then most studios would have to develop their own engine, and they were commonly focused on a single genre, but it still made more sense to use it as a starting point and not have to rewrite the renderer, animation systems, loading, etc.
I recall the dev length to be closer to 14 months than 11, but I may be misremembering that. It's still too short a time to do all we did.
Possibly to coincide with the release of the movie?
Hey, @floofyprawn6459! It's always awesome to hear from a dev. Despite the short period of time, the game came out kinda solid, I'd say!
Would you be so kind as to answer a question I have for this game. It's a little glitch that still bugs me to this day. It's about the Grizz's medals.
The second medal in the disused subway level is glitched. I've been searching everywhere for a way for the game to register it, but no one mentions it.
Basically, Grizz awards Fiddy with 20K and a Level-3 Flak Jacket everytime the player recovers one of them. But it doesn't happen with that one. The one close to the industrial fan.
I suspect that 50 not saying anything upon getting that one specifically has something to do with it. Only looking at the code would explain it, but my guess is that the game simply checks if the player got the prop per level, so it doesn't acknowledge that there are two in there. Or maybe there's no such function assigned to that specific collectible. Do you have any clue of what might be going on? Thank you for the attention!
@@floofyprawn6459 hey! i spoke to a different developer i think from the art part of the game (not dropping his name here for obvi reasons) and he was able to send me about 50gb of content created for the game! i was lucky enough to open it through autodesk maya seemed like it was made on that. i am working on a pc port which is more of a pain i thought it would and im missing some missions some audio files and most of the scenes luckily i do have all the drawboards and even the script to develop it on my own but if you still maybe have some files left somewhere i would love to get those if you want ofcourse :)
Oh my I loved this game ♥ Eminem did a great job voicing in it with 50! Thanks for the video Hammers. :)
Absolutely, they killed it. Thank you!
@@MrHammers why did you say it was obnoxious then?
7:00 "and y'all wanna talk about guns, like I ain't got none, what the f, you think I sold 'em all?" (lyrics from Forgot About Dre)
yes Dre, I think you did.
I remember enjoying this game. It was not a masterpiece but it was good for mindless fun. It needed more polish but for a game made entirely on crunch time, it's solid. Better put together than most of the trash today.
Completely agree.
Fun fact: 50 turned down Rockstar to voice CJ in GTA San Andreas in favor of his game.
then we got young maylay, who's also a great rapper
@@lilavocado7265the San Andreas Mixtape he released slaps hella hard
That would have been awesome but what we ended up getting is great CJ the 🐐
Being able to unlock tracks from 50s discography and use them as a soundtrack to your future missions put the game on a whole different level for me. When I was younger I didn't have an MP3 player so my music consumption was TV and this game when I was finished with school, I remember grinding as hard as I could for a solid week just to unlock the music so I could let it play on my TV while I did other kid stuff.
The only thing I remember about this game is that it's sequel was kinda pretty decent
B*tch took my skull
It was dog shit. lol
I loved the sequel.
@@theobell2002 in your opinion it was. But the blood on the sand sequel was in fact a GREAT game
It wasn't, stop it.
Getting shot nine times isnt that bad considering he dodged hundreds if not thousands of other bullets
With how clunky the mechanics are, you're guaranteed to get shot 9 times. Kinda ironic actually
Huge fan of 50 and this game was underrated and I still play it to this day
I don't think u know what *underrated* means
You still play it?

Bangladesh! That's amazing, thanks for tuning in!
A really rough novelty game with some real heart. Loved it as a kid from NYC. This went crazy in the early 2000s
Please do Blood on the Sand. It’s one of the most fun games of its era. Not even close to a 10/10 in quality but a definite 10/10 in fun
Most fun game of its era??? Cap
@@LADYGoatness yeah it is. I said fun. Fun doesn’t mean great game. BotS was undeniably a fun experience but not a great game.

@@LADYGoatness you’re welcome. And yes it was one of the most fun games of its era
@@LADYGoatness 28 and using the term cap? What the @#$% is wrong with you?
The game was better than I thought it would be, I just remember getting lost in a level and not ever figuring out where to go. But Blood on the Sand was a huge improvement and was so much fun. One game I think would’ve been amazing would’ve been Fear & Respect. Snoop was the main character and the story was written by John Singleton. Sadly it got canceled but I think it could’ve been something.
Ik exactly what u mean
Fear and respect was so hyped up had spreads in Game magazines and never showed up also there was a Dirty Harry game I remember in magazines that never got made either
I'm currently in the middle of playing blood on the sand for the first time (I have a ps2 and ps3 emulator on my computer) ... I can't disagree more with that take. Bulletproof, at least so far, was considerably better than blood on the sand.
I can legit only remember the executions from this game and it's sequel. Because of course I'd like the most violent parts of the goofy gangster shooter
To be fair they were solid executions. Very...well executed...
there was a sequel? 🤯
@@wolfwyvern5334 yep. Blood On The Sand
This is why 50 Cent was so big…a classic debut album, movie & a video game in a 2003-2005 span 🔥
Awesome retrospective man! This game is really fun despite the bad controls and camera. I never encountered any bugs when playing it. I actually reached out to the creative director of the game and shared some very interesting info with me!
-This game was basically going to be Grand Theft Auto but with 50 Cent's name attached to it.
-A LOT of stuff was cut from before release like pipe scaling to get to out of reach areas, a progression based respect mechanic similar to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, destructible environments, a VASTLY bigger hub world to explore, more clothes for 50 Cent to wear, remixes of 50's albums, shooting on ladders and pipes, the hookers in the HUB world could get money for you and some cool door takedown animations were removed.
-Everything for 50 Cent Bulletproof had to go through Vivendi Universal and 50 Cent himself for approval. He was given builds to play with and he would give feedback on them.
-Vivendi Universal were big fans of 50 Cent and which is what made them decide to make a game based on him.
-The game was sadly rushed to tie in with 50 Cent's movie Get Rich or Die Trying.
-It was a very big budget game originally but was cut down significantly halfway through development. Levels and mechanics also changed a lot.
-The development team have a lot of fond memories working on the game, working with Terence Winter and 50 Cent.
Dayum 😯
i can say that this is true i got most of the files from the game there even are drawings of the bigger hub multiple builds from 50 cent home and i found a hidden cutscene where 50 climbs up the ladder i haven't found out why or for what level he does it but it looks like it was the first mission because the color scheme match
@@pure1876 How do you extract the files?
@@evanhanley6437 well first i tried extracting the iso ps2 file that gives a lot but misses A TON so i found a developer back in i think march or april 2023 he had close to all the files laying around somewhere on a old hard drive i bought wetransfer premium so he could send big files to me and viola that’s how i got them
@@evanhanley6437 i bought autodesk maya and started playing with the maps builds and so forth
I loved this game as a teen, my cousin bought it for me for my 13th birthday and I had a blast playing it every day. Back then I only ever owned a handful of games that were all from the bargain bin, so I didn't know what separated a "good" game from a "bad" game
I preordered this game and loved it start to finish.
I remember sometimes watching my uncle play this game, specifically a scene with someone getting chainsawed in half and one of the last cutscenes with the "karate lessons" guy that Eminem voices. I thought it WAS Eminem, didn't realize until now that it was him voicing someone else
Blood in the Sand is a much more playable game from what I’ve seen of it.
Man, I loved this game. Got it for Easter and played it so much. I remember the forest level that led up to a mansion very well cause I played that mission over and over. I kinda remember a survival or time trial mode but can't tell if it's just my childhood memory being fuzzy or if it was an actual thing. I was also only 7 or 8 when I got this game
yup, after you beat this game you unlocked a game mode where you could fight waves of enemies and use ANY of the major characters in the game, you could run around as eminem or lloyd banks and fight waves of enemies inside most of the levels of the story
I loved this game when it came out lol
I remember I played this on my ps2 slim and although I beat the game. Trust me, the most frustrating thing about the game is when 50 has to go into the abandoned projects to find a "Makeshift Bridge". It took me forever to find it. The environment is so dark....but ultimately it was a tight game....🤣🤣🤣
I still own this on my Xbox , I have a lot of memories playing this . Great job on the video man .
Thank you my man
I wanted this game so bad as a kid and when i finally got it for Christmas i must have played it nonstop for three months doing the story and arcade modes over and over and still to this day I love it and is one of my OG Xbox go to shooters
bro "Du-Rag physics..." was funny asf 🤣👏👏👏
Thank you, I was proud of that one 🤣
This game might not be the best but it made history with just the cast alone Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 cent are voice acting and doing it well
Candy shop was burned into my mind when I played this as a kid. I was hearing it in my sleep
13 year old me had candy shop on all day long, it was better than waiting for MTV to play it lol
Looove this game, definitely a huge part of my childhood and part of the legend of 50, and split screen multi-player with all the characters? Whaaat? It was so good, shouldn't have been negatively reviewed at all
Bro please keep these retro games series going, you cover damn near everything with a great background info, you earned a subbed!
I played this game during my middle school years, needless to say it was like going out on your first date & it ending good in way.
Sure it's cheesy, but it's retro PlayStation 2 & first Xbox console fun.
i played this game this year my HS senior on a ps2 emulator with a compressed rom version and it was 50 fps experience i enjoyed abit
This game isn't going to win any awards at all. This is by far one of the best guilty pleasure games I've ever played. The guns, the shooting mechanic, some of the levels for the time, all jelled very well in this game. Would definitely play it again if they remastered it
Great upload my guy. I really enjoyed the review. I could not get into this game when it initially came out, because I had already played and beaten The Punisher. The difference was just too noticeable.
I remember the game had a system where you would go to this cinema guy to learn new finishing moves, which were pretty cool as the weapon and angle would affect which finisher you would get
I loved this game as a kid, great video.
This game was actually pretty fun for the times. The finishers were kinda lack luster but the music made this shit classic.
Perfect example of a game that might not have great reviews because there was a lot that could've been better, but it somehow never got in the way of being super fun. Felt like an absolute badass playing this haha.
Dude, it’s awesome to see that you’re still posting man. Love your stuff, never give up man. 👍
Thanks my dude 😎
Speaking of gangster video games, did you ever play the godfather game for the original Xbox? That was surprisingly good
Yes! I just bought the PS2 copy a few months back
That was such a great game. Shockingly so wasn't the Scarface game
Really good also.
This game was pretty much just one big advertising for 50 cents music but I loved it from beginning to end. With the story being really zany and feeling b movie, it felt like you were playing through a 50 cent album. It’s that type of game that isn’t made anymore. I plan on getting this again and going through it in coop this time.
3:10 "Look at this photograph!"
🤣
Keep up the great videos. The algorithm is going to bless you soon.
The game could have been great like Dead to Rights. The biggest problem was the enemies moved too fast and you aimed too slow to keep up with them.
I don't think the enemies moving too fast was the issue. In a real life gun fight, it only makes sense for people to move out of the way fast. It was the aiming system that was off in the game.
Awesome video loved this game very fun as a kid 🥰 never played the PSP game!!
I never played the PSP version either, looked cool though
Your channel is kickass dude. Especially since you cover PS2, my all-time favorite console. Also best ending music on any youtube channel I follow.
Played it last week ... Felt the need to turn on my PS2 again, but I agree, it's actually a pretty good game tbh!
Great video, mate... Nice backlog for me to watch since I found your channel a few days ago 🎉
Awesome video. I remember playin this as a kid and loving the eminem scenes too
The dialogue in this game was hilarious..enjoy it so well
Wow you are a true inspiration, this content is so rich and consistent, I don't know how you do it. I mean that Bully Video was great and then within a week's time you put out this intriguing banger!
Remember though don't overwork yourself!
Thank you! I've been keeping it chill haha
I enjoyed 50's games , would love to play it all over again.👌👌👌
Man I haven't played this in Soo long. Brings me back
When I was a kid, I absolutely loved this game. Unlocking 50 Cent's songs throughout and being able to play them as you mow down bad guys was so cool.
This game was very fun. Eminem as a detective had me dead 😭🤣
Drinking vitamin water to regain health, the cameos and the sound track were great lol
This game is so nostalgic. I loved it and played it so much on the ps2
Your review was hilarious. Might replay this game on xbox

I haven’t played this game in awhile.
This is what made me a fan of 50 Cent as I wasn’t really into rap music during the time.
Lol I actually don't think this looks or sounds all that bad 😅 sounds entertaining, I love goofy things.
So many good memories :) Now we need a video on Blood on the Sand ;)
7:00 "and y'all wanna talk about guns, like I ain't got none, what the f, you think I sold 'em all?" (lyrics from Forgot About Dre)
yes Dre, I think you did.
Dre didn't write that. Eminem wrote his verse.
@@gaylordfocker7990 I never said Dre wrote it, I said it's lyrics from the song. Dre raps this part but yes, it was written by Eminem.
I dont care what anybody says, this was one of the best games I ever played on PS2 back when i was in high school. I was already a GUNIT fan before, had Beg For Mercy album, Lloys Banks album, Young Bucks albums, Yayos album and the games OST made me fall in love with Valentines Day Massacre. SALES ASIDE, I think Valentines Day is probably 50s best album, prove me wrong!? EDIT: Wait there was a sequel? I had no idea :|
This video made my day
I love this channel & I love this game! The psp version is super repetitive but as a 50 cent fan since day 1 I had 2 beat & play both psp & ps2. Never got 2 play Blood on the Sand & that makes me super sad.
Never played the PSP version, but bulletproof and blood on the sand were fantastic. Imo haha
I got a job when I was 14 in 2005 and I used my first paycheck to buy this game lol
I remember wanting to play Blood in the Sand back when it came out. Looking at the short clip of gameplay here, it still looks pretty decent
Played an absolute ton of the PSP version, loved it...
Didn't even know there was a PS2 version for years, eventually got a copy and thought it was decent, wasn't the best, but it was decent.
Controls are a little stiff on my emulator, there's a chance that I just mapped it badly, but I faintly remember slightly stiff controls on PS2.
Bro is soo underrated love this content
Look at the Triple A game market nowadays, this was a well polished diamond compared to it. That game made very much sense in that time frame. But a real gangster game sold well then and would sell well now, unfortunately game developers don't have the balls to do a new one anymore, because of all the hate from keyboard warriors and annoying CZcamsrs that would call them old and irrelevant.
I remember buying this over Oddworld: Strangers Wrath. 13 year old me had seriously questionable tastes...
Not a bad choice imo 😂
this game was fkin good idc what anyone says as a kid i loved it i remember collecting all the songs and freaking out when eminem made an appearance
My aunt bought me and my brothers this game for Christmas when we were kids. I loved it and still have that very copy
You should do a review of the dead to Rights games next and/or true crime games. Those games were amazing back in the 2000's. Definitely my favorite.
Those are on the to do list for sure
