It falls short on it's shortwave bands. This is a bummer, because I like how they have it structured with no breaks in the frequencies.
Overall, this radio is more of a budget offering in the international marketplace. You should spend no more then $30 USD for it.
It has charm and I love the way my classic radio shows sound on it. Don't forget that smooth, dark wood grain treatment :)

I have one for daily use. Not bad for the price, good sound and very cute, but it suffers overloading with extra wire help except in more quiet locations. Unfortunately, the DSP kills the faint stations but I think in some countries these receivers are very useful in isolated areas. Thanks for sharing!

Hey, please tell us why you do not extend the telescopic antenna for that testing.
The stations that seem to be white noise are DRM stations Digital Radio Mondale.

@@todderberthere in the Philippines, we only use radio for AM/FM will this Toshiba work well? I like the Panasonic but this one has USB feature and looks more elegant.

Well at least WWV and a few other stations were coming in strong. Out here in the Western US, SW has been dismal so you did ok. Too bad the radio is so finicky to tune.

At 31:02 you tlaks about there are a lot of media playter radio's these days, or maby my reading of th English subtitles is not enough but, the USB player is a great plus, and not much a multiband radios have that function. I miss a lot too the recording funcion on it. It's something that my Tecsun ICR-110 does it has.

Since the Tecsun ICR-110, has no great sensitivity for FM, the Toshiba TY-HRU 30 looks like a godd alternative too.
It’s really a shame that almost all of the once high quality radio companies have gone to selling low-rent radios, reminiscent of Grand Prix ,Lloyd’s, Browni, Juliette, Nobility,......
While it’s the newer companies , the off-the-wall companies that seem to be trying to bring better radios out to the market.
I would LOVE to have one of these if it were done right - even if it were more expensive.
But this one? - Nah.

The Skywave SSB overloads too, big time. I’m sure that is why they didn’t add an external antenna jack..
My Skywave SSB seems to fair pretty good on a simple 22' wire.
Copycats of this design like Geepas and Olsenmark performs better. It’s a shame for Toshiba.
Actually I was searching for radio and was confused between geepas,olsenmark and Toshiba..can you please suggest which one will be better
Soumya Sarathi Samantaray Well I have the Olsenmark variant. So far it performs well. The Geepas seems ok too. Both looks the same except of course for the branding. Hope this helps for your decision which to buy. 73!
