    Leaving one wheel off your driveway just makes it easier for a thief to steal your outer wheel without jacking the truck up.

    Enjoyed watching the second real world scenario regarding the door hinge. It's about the only thing I would use the router at work as a maintenance tech for apartments. I came up on a cordless router and was debating whether to keep it or not. But this video ensured me it would be worth keeping since I'm tired of using a utility knife and small chisel and taking way to long to cut out two door hinge cut outs. And just the efficiency and usability of the compact router. Thanks!

    Hey sire, great videos! The 2nd tire hanging off wont harm anything, with your loads. Duallie extra wheels are for carrying highend of payload, or more importantly 'heavy' tongue trailer weight. The truck itself with some contractor tools is well within what the inside wheels can hold.

    I really wanted to get this since they started advertising it, but I really couldn't wait until it came out so I got DeWalt's battery-powered compact router. I'm sure I'd be really happy if I got the Milwaukee instead, but I've been really pleased with the DeWalt router so far. It seems like there are quite a few quality cordless compact router options on the market right now. It's such an awesome tool to have within easy convenient reach. Thanks for the demo.

I slapped a 9.0Ah on mine and did well building stair stringers routing out a 3/8" slot for my steps to slide into. Worked well even for pressure treated lumber! Definitely loving this purchase!

    I agree I bought it when it first came out and it surpassed my expectations as well a lot more power than I thought it would have I would definitely recommend it to everyone thinking about it. The only thing i think could be better it a baseplate that is more slippery. It seems like some other routers slide better on wood, even when i apply parafin wax. Could be just the added weight of the battery makes it more difficult to slide. I work in a cabinet shop BTW so im pretty accustomed to trim routers of varying type and mfg's. All in all Milwaukee killed it! Nice job chaps.

    There is absolutely no problem with having one tire off the edge of the driveway like that. The only time it could be a problem is if you had a 20,000lbs trailer hooked up, or a few thousand pounds in the bed. And even with a large payload it probably still wouldn't matter. Your axles are rated for so much more weight than you're putting on it there. You don't need to put a board under that tire, or anything like that. Having the one tire on the ground is no different than the SRW one ton trucks. The DRW is mainly for towing stability, not so much for weight rating. You are 100% fine.

    I've switched most things over to Milwaukee from DeWalt -- since we moved onto our boat. Mostly because Milwaukee makes the cordless heat gun, which is REALLY AWESOME. Anyhow... router... I picked one up yesterday, and I'm not overly impressed. The height adjustment doesn't actually lock-in, I can see the little wheel move while I am using the router.

  • @lint2023
    @lint2023 Před 4 lety +17

    Both wheels are mounted together as a "single unit" on the axle so the axle sees the same load independent of whether one or two tires are on the ground. The primary function of a dually is to is to keep from overloading tires - more tires = lower load per tire. Tires are the lowest load-rated component in the system. And, contrary to one comment I saw below, parked on only one tire with your essentially unloaded truck (all that stuff in the bed is insignificant w/r/t the truck) has not affect on the tires. Of course, the overall truck as a dually is heavier built but single tires cannot take the amount load from a heavily loaded system.

    • @jamesmarks8099
      @jamesmarks8099 Před 2 lety

      I think this is true in part but here in the north they add axles to respect the regulations governing wheel loads so as not to damage the pavement.

    @kartboarder22g17 Před 4 lety

    Yep your good, doesn't matter if it was the outer tire with full load you'd probably be fine. First thing that will give is the wheel, but again wouldn't worry about it as there is a safety factor involved anyway. When these work trucks go off road towing they sometimes drive up on an area where only one tire is on the ground. So you are good. Storing it for longer than a weekend different situation as you don't want the tire itself to develope a flat spot, yet with duallys a flat spot might not matter much on one tire and evenutally it would spring back/wear back.

    There is not enough weight back there to harm your axle. Your all good. I have had the outside tire up on a curb for days at a time and no issues. No leaking axle seals or any other issues. You would need to exceed the payload in order to hurt the axle by only have one wheel supported. 👍

    Nice review. All my Li-ion stuff is Milwaukee and I have a bunch (not enough though). Now this tool will be added to the "gotta get one" list. I've used just about every name brand of these tools when working with trusted subs and job site sharing is fairly common. Big news flash......they all work well. I'm not jumping into the switching brands thing because Dewalt or Makita have come out with the newest and best (according to advertising). No matter who has the newest and best, the others will soon follow with their version. I really do not want three different kinds of batteries and charging units laid out. The brushless tech has really leveled the playing field. Now some genius engineer will come up with a more efficient battery system and, of course, change the interface, then we're all in the start over boat. Japan has developed a dual carbon battery that out performs li-ion. Just at early stages, but things they be a changin".

    It’s not bad for the axle. The point of duels is to allow more tires to hold the weight so that they don’t burst. Parking on the inner wheel puts greater stress on that tire, but no additional stress on the axle.

    I have a 2015 Expedition and bought a 16’ enclosed trailer so the Expedition wouldn’t be a work vehicle. And it works great when I put stuff back where I got it from which is like....never......🤣🤣 But it does require some delicate maneuvering once in a while.
