- In today's video I walk the streets of New Westminster, BC in search of street photos! After weeks of using my telephoto zoom lens I decided to go back to my 35mm 1.8 prime lens. Always amazing how sharp that lens is from F1.8 all the way to F14! My buddy @chris_palmer met up and shot his own POV video. From the New West Quay to Anvil Centre, we had some good laughs and found some great light. It honestly felt like a 4 hour sunrise. Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss out of future street photography videos!

@@joostc4750 excellent question 😅
your energy when you find a good shot is so refreshing and the smiles on peoples faces when they see the picture you took of them :)))
Thank you for the kind words! Glad to hear that the energy translates through the video. Finding good light/subject/timing is such an amazing feeling! 🙌🏼
Brother this turned out so good!!!! The shots are great! Every time we go out and shoot its the highlight of the weekend! Can't wait for the next one man!
Thanks bro!! Absolutely! This was a fun one 😎.
Amaizing photos, your videos are greats, I have recently had a z50 and I am delighted with it, I also do street photography, I use the 16/50 and a manual TTartisan 23mm.I very happy with this teams, and you video are part my inspiration
Thanks so much Ricky! That’s so cool to hear! The 16-50mm is underrated for sure. I have a few TTArtisan lenses but not that one. How do you like it?
First time I've seen your video. Really loved it, especially as I'm considering buying the Z50. I feel really inspired seeing you both. Thank for sharing.
Thanks for the kind words John! If you haven’t already check out my other POV videos if you need any other videos about the Z 50 :).
Roland, You've killed my finances with this video. I'm Canadian and I'm purchasing a Nikon Z50 in the coming weeks. I wasn't remotely planning on getting a Prime Lens. However, I cannot avoid this lens after seeing the immense detail & quality of these photos. So, Thank you Roland. I shall now be putting the blame on you for making me spend $2500 + Tax on a new camera setup ;)
Hahahaha this is the best comment! I’m sorry/you’re welcome 😅. I’m going to screenshot this and send it to Nikon in hopes they’ll give kickback on the sale 😂.
The way people take pictures says a lot about their personality and insight! Wonderful shots Roland! 🔥
Thank you so much!! I hope it says good things about me 🤓
@@RolandKaufmann absolutely! ☺️The angle you choose to take a photo is very specific, you pay attention to interesting details that others simply miss. it shows that you are probably an introvert person!
@@atefehasadi1252 bingo! 😅
Nice video im a big fan of
Thank you!!
La Z50 ya es un clásico, ideal para esta categoría de foto street!!!!!
The enthusiasm, love it!
Thanks! Got to keep the energy up! ⬆️😎
This was so satisfying to watch
Thank you India!!
Awesome Roland , some great shots , you need to hand out cards with youtube handle on them 😀
Thanks you!! Haha yes that’s a great idea. I have business cards but all the info is no longer correct 😅. Might be time to update!
Haha it was a bit slow at first! No stores were open yet so no people. Found lots of people later on :). I shoot RAW and edit all my photos in Lightroom after.
Totally agree. I paired my z50 with the 35mm f1.8s and it is great! Though if I'm chasing after the plane or the bus with my family and bags, I doubt I will put on the 35mm. The 16-50 kit lens rocks still! Makes me wonder whether to buy that z7 or not :)
The 16-50 is a nice range to have for sure! I tend to shoot with my 35 or 50-250 most of the time though. I want to get back to shooting the kit lens, but I find the other 2 a more natural fit for my photography.
nice video ! and great shots xD very nice to watch
👍
Thanks so much!!
Its make me smile
Glad to hear :)
Amazing shoots and video roland. you just win a new follower. Some day I would like to watch a video of how you edit these pov video. I recorded videos and now im gound to edit the photos
Thanks so much Enrique! The videos are very fun to make, but there’s actually a lot of editing that goes into them. Maybe one day I’ll make a video explaining my process :).
Vertical orientation photos suck for CZcams. I'ts best to frame things horizontal, when you know you'll be showing the photos on CZcams. Otherwise, a cool video...
Hey Sergei, I agree! Haha. I’m trying to retrain my brain to shoot photos horizontal. It’s a work in progress 🤓
Hi, this is the first video of you that I've seen. I already own a Z50 but I got the 50mm, I was thinking about getting the 24mm1.7 DX as a 35 FF fkr street photography, do you think it is good? (Sorry for my bad english)
Hello and welcome to the channel :). I think the 24mm 1.7 would be a great street lens! It wasn’t out yet when I was starting with my lens purchases otherwise I would get one for sure 👍🏼.
Hey Bro love your work💪🏻❤️
Awesome stuff 👏 👌
I'm watching and following all the way from the South Pacific, Vanuatu 🇻🇺
I got a question to ask.
What lenses are good for Portraits and Astrophotography?
And why?😊
Thanks so much!! Wow that’s so cool! I’ll have to look up where that is haha.
Good question. For portraits I like to be anywhere from 50-100mm. Gives a nice look to the persons face. I haven’t done any Astro yet, but I’ve heard wider lenses like 16-24 work well cause you can get lots of the sky in frame (while also getting something in the foreground).
I’m actually working on a POV video where I take my new 85mm 1.8 out. It is an amazing portrait option!
@RolandKaufmann aww men,
Thanks for the reply.
Muchly appreciated.
If I got a few cool pictures my self I'll send you some.
What's your Insta account?
Can't wait to see your next Video.
Cheers 🍻
@@paulduke204 thanks for the kind words Paul. Means a lot! My Instagram is roland_kaufmann_ . See ya around 😎.
Subbed!!
Thank you!!!
And there’s me thinking I would NEVER need a 35mm!
It’s a very useful lens 😎
What brand is your camera wrist strap? Also where did you get it? 😀
It’s the Peak Design Cuff. I got it from a local camera store. You can get it online though!
@@RolandKaufmann thanks!
I've been using my Z50 for almost 2 months now and still loving it (currently using 16-50mm & 50-250mm lens). Now I'm thinking of buying this prime lens to enhance my photoshots. Do you think 35mm is enough? or should I go with 50mm??
That’s awesome! When I bought my 35mm I was also looking at the 50 as well. It was a tough decision haha. Ended up going with the 35 because of the crop factor of the Z50. It ends up looking like a full frame 50mm field of view. Plus I’m not shy of cropping when needed. So my vote is 35mm but I totally get if you prefer the 50!
@@RolandKaufmann Thank you for the suggestion! Yeah, it's a difficult choice.. though, I might have to go with 35mm as it looks more suitable for general shots. The 50mm may look more sharper and best for portraits but it might be too long for taking landscaping shots or group photos.
Hi roland , i getting sick looking a camera for me until i see your videos. i was looking for a z6 cose i have the money , but actualy im going to new york for travel , and seeing your setup ask myself if i need that. For now it's for street photo and some videos to have for memories !!!! but i still thinking about "future" and makes me feel insecure to not buy z6.. (i have now an old D700, it's go to nowhere with 1kg thouse days... )
PD: any of my actuals Nikon lens doesn't work with the adapter XD so it's all new become!!
Hey, ohhh that’s a good question. The Z6 and Z50 are quite different from each other (Z6 is full frame and Z50 is APS-C). I think you have to ask yourself if it’s worth the extra $2000 bucks for your photo/video. I personally have been using my Z50 for the past couple years and am still having a great time with it. My long term plan is to get something like the Z6ii and use my prime lenses with it. Aiming to do that in the next year or so.
Let me know if you have any specific questions and I’ll do my best to answer.
@@RolandKaufmann thx a lot!!!
i was thinking on z6 with 35mm 1.8 to get good shots in citys and portraits, and buy the FTZ adapter to maybe use some 50mm af-s used or 85mm in the future.. also , i feeling crazy to take the z50 full kit too to used and if not worth for me, sell it in my country for better money...
also in byh the z6+24/70 f4 cost 1500$ refurbished!
To make matters worse, I arrive in New York and I won't have a camera! I want to get there, run and buy one! ha ha ha
@@RolandKaufmann
Have you used the sigma 30mm?
I have not! Would be interested in trying them though 🤓
How it goes this z50, is worth to buy for 600£ with FTZ adapter?
I had few lenses for Nikon F mount, but my body d90 is 15yrs old now.
I haven’t tried the FTZ adapter so can’t really say how well that would work. It’s a great little camera though! Even just the little kit lens it comes with will work while you figure out adapting your F mounts…
hey man waht is you objectif of your nikon where you buy can you send me the link ? plss
Hey, I’m not really sure what you’re asking for… sorry. Can you use different words?
@@RolandKaufmann Excuse me my English is not very good I just wanted to knowWhat is the lens you use your camera and is it good for face shots and landscapes
@@astaroth9702 ahhhh okay, no worries! The lens I used in this video was the Nikkor Z 35mm 1.8 S. It’s an excellent lens for portraits. I haven’t done too much landscape with it, but I’m sure it would work :).
@@RolandKaufmann thank you very much
