- I took my ELECTRIC CAR for a SERVICE and the BILL left me FEELING HOT under the COLLAR! I took my EV for a service and couldn't believe how much the bill was.

That's a no brainer Lee: 1) You bought a Porsche Taycan. 2) You got it serviced at a dealer (they charge you for the building, all the employees, even the sales staff's wages. 3) Tyres have always been low hanging fruit: technicians delightfully insist they require replacement halfway through their service lives and fortuitously EVs generally are much harder on tyres so very happy days for Porsche Leeds.
Can assure you they don't make a lot of profit on tyres and definitely not a low hanging fruit, above 5mm green, 3mm to 5mm amber with note to keep eye on, below 3mm red as Porsche advise replacement to keep car handling as designed to and don't forget some of the cars do have power and some owners do USE them as intended. However you are correct the fact they are tough on tyres, a fair bit of weight to shift and stop.
They are not going to charge you because of your videos, they would charge any other punter
That is too true. CZcamsr privileges I bet he has free tax as well.
Million percent same as the money they offered Lee for his current Porsche on a part ex. No other person would get that price.
Another brilliant video Lee
Bit too quick off the mark there bud, in the last 3 mins of the video he says turns out they ARE under warranty if you are the first owner ( which Lee is) 👍
Yes £4000 repair would really show a negative view on porsche.
Man realises Porsche cars are expensive Shocker.
Who knew?
Another man realises he is jealous because the first man has a Porsche, and he doesn't. Absolute shocker.
Who knew?
Porsche actually put a turbo badge on an EV. 😂😂 Honestly the world is falling apart, stupidity everywhere . Please take me away to a land of sanity….
I'm thinking of starting a youtube channel talking about the minutae of my hum drum life from when I take a dump to writing my shopping list. It seems there is a market for this and that it makes some people enough money to buy Porsche Taycans and offset the eye watering depreciation with barely a care in the world.
It’s hideous to have a turbo badge on the back of an electric car.
🧹This car is sounding more, and more like Trigger's broom.👍
Did roger lloyd pack in being trigger?!
And to think- just because the new model has a range similar to a petrol version you are impressed! Anyone who buys one of these needs their sanity checked!
Lee this has been mentioned before. This car is useless. It’s very expensive, depreciated huge amounts, has a crappy range, recalls, and huge servicing costs.
You know by now you could have spent 40 grand on a Tesla 3, it would have gone further, would have had no recalls, has no mandatory servicing. I took mine in after 2 years to have the aircon filter swapped, would have cost me £15 each and you can do it yourself. Decided to have my brakes stripped and lubed, tyres rotated. Whole thing cost me £250, that’s for 2 years. Technician told me brakes would have been fine for another year, so I won’t be back for 3 years now. Had a Model S before this and didn’t spend anything in 3 years.
This car of yours is a money pit. I’d get rid if I was you and move to a Tesla.
Finally how is that not covered under warranty? It’s covered under the Consumer Rights Act which is why they are doing it, and they know it.
I love my S 85d, it's mental and done 110k kilometres and Tesla said they only ever changed the small battery in 2018. It's a Nov 15. It has full Auto pilot that works well here in Perth Australia. 3 performance is looking good 👍.
Notice it's the drivers side tyres that's warn, that's down to the amount of fish and chips eaten by the driver! 😂
MMMMM Fish n Chips
My 24 year old Audi A4 1800e. Drives like new. Looks lush. Every... thing works fine.
It may drive like new but still drives like a 24 years old car, things have improved in driving dynamics in 24 years.
I've noticed with phone batteries they perform OK for a while and then go kaput, usually over night after warranty period. Then throw it out. EV'S are the same, 10 years old everyday after it still works, is a bonus. Battery health OK for a while, then kaput overnight.
What a load of old rubbish. Phone batteries go down the day after the warranty ends. Yeah sure.
You need to keep and build a tally (a spreadsheet) outlining all the costs you have to spend to run your Taycan. I can imagine with all the recalls, services, new tyres, public charging and the coffees and foods brought waiting around, you most probably could have bought another Taycan; by the time your three or four lease agreement comes to an end.
Not environmentally friendly if your getting major parts changed at every service. I owned a 2001 Volvo S60 t5, I bought with 160k miles on the clock in 2006 with a full documented history (it was an ex police car). Only having fluids and serviceable items changed when required. I only sold it in 2008 because my daughter was born and it was too low for getting a baby out the baby seat.
I was talking to a ex work mate who is now a car mechanic and has just passed some exams and tests so he can work on EV’s and he said he got just over a 50% pay rise
All these recalls/faults in a £120K car! Not goo.
They’re doing the repairs and updates and upgrading for free . It’s not the end of the world.
My 97 2wd 4runner looks and runs like new. We are on a 3rd battery, a few sets of brake pads, and wheel bearings I have done all the service work since day one. 274k miles and we still get 24 mpg.
She a strong runner. No EVs ever in my future.
Brilliant, my kind of motoring...until we get taxed or legislated out of it. 'They' aren't going to give up until we've all been forced out of reasonable long term motoring into either the disposal and hugely expensive EV con, or nothing.
Drives like new, not quite it drives like an old car with 274k on the clock.😂😂😂
It will be interesting to see if the new Taycan battery will still be as efficient after it is 3 yrs old and has covered 40,000+ miles as yours has. As we all know batteries deteriorate with use and over time.
No way you'll ever buy another ice car Lee.. you know these milkfloats are amazing.
Thanks Lee, a interesting car service video, looking forward to the European trip with yourself and Geoff 😊 👍 Au
when u recently got valuations on your Tyncan, did u spell out that it needed £4000 for fans?
If lee got rid of the car he would have no channel!
He wouldn't have anything to whinge about, he hates his milk float so much and he's losing money hand over fist but he won't sell it because he won't have anything to talk about.
@@sprograt fish and chips and a full english breakfast's
If EV owners got together and just took £10k of their negative equity and gave it to a decent solicitor, they'd all get a full refund.
I clenched when you said how much 2 tyres cost.
I do not like the visual health checks that main dealers do as it is a perfect way for them to frighten you into costly repairs which are not always essential
Lee, your suspension geometary is way off and your tyres are over inflated if they are wearing out the middle first. That trip to Benidorm could be very costly......
The MacMaster!!! The Whinging Pommie!! Entertainment value Stellar. Waiting for the race.
It seems to me that the porsche taycan's are like a beautiful woman, they look lovely but end up taking all of your money ha ha ha 👍
When you spend £120k on a car, that's the sort of bill i would expect.
Is bill a nice man?!
Lee, I know that Volkswagen AG have used 'First movers' who reported back to VW when they introduced the new electric ID.3 car; they were, in effect, beta testers and, as such, VW corrected alot of issues with the upgraded ID.3.
Looking forward to this epic trip to the continent.😊.
How bad are these cars?? Over £120k and constant problems..
Why are you doing this to yourself? If you “choose” to run a car costing at least 3 times the average cost of a regular car, it’s going to sting you. It’s a non-story.
Lee, grab yourself a mint classic Saab 900 Turbo while they’re still affordable and save your money, let others pay the extortionate development costs for EV’s. Enjoy some proper motoring before these classics are phased out. You could even drive to Benidorm in it 😃
One might surmise he basks in the sunshine of the badge and secretly rather enjoys driving this particular kind of milk float 🙂
This is youtube. Clicks and views pay...
Good for earnings though 👌
You haven’t watched his videos.
He was a lifelong petrol Porsche guy . He tried a Porsche EV.. He’s underwater on the car because of loss of value of EV’s in general.. he’s about 30,000 pounds underwater.
That is why .
Think I'll stick with a 22 year old Audi A2 TDI...
It's crazy that main dealers try to scare you into thinking your tyres are no good with "amber" when there is still 4.5mm of tread left, most tyres new are 7.5mm so it's effectively half worn. A normal car can easily get 8k miles on "amber" tyres! Looking at these tyres wearing more in the middle that's usually what happens when running slightly higher pressure, it increases range by lowering rolling resistance but wears faster in the middle
Proud of myself today, i stuck it for about 10 mins.
5 at the start, 5 at the end?
Best viewing strategy!
😂
Lee mate, it's like a form of self flagellation owning your vehicle. Taycan cooling fans and a couple of tyres costs more than my entire Golf diesel. That is truly messed up.
What a pile of junk.I own a 2005 Toyota Celica and in 19 years and 170 thousand moles it has never broken down and NOTHING has broken.
YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVVE A GENEROUS ENDOWMENT OF DANGLIES
I know moles are small...but you did well to get that many in your car!
I had a work colleague who bought a used Celica around 2005.
Worse car he ever bought, he ended up scrapping it after less than three years because of the issues he had.😢
You win some you lose some, eh?😂
You call his car a pile of junk then describe a pile of junk 😂😂😂
A car without sound is like to have a gin and tonic without gin .
My cost for my volvo is about 200 pund a month! for diesel, incurens, service and roadtax. No loans. New cars eat money 😮
my ice car can get services in any city or town that I might be in if needed cant say the same for EVS
That reminds me my EV is due a service after 30k miles, well not a real service just the screen wash topping up.
The problem with such luxurious cars, is where can you park it safely, without someone (jealously) scratching it, running a shopping trolley into it etc? Over the years, I've picked up many a dent & scratch, and even a crumpled wing.
Triggers Broom again lol
By the time they've finished you'll have a new car. All they need to do is replace the bodywork for it to be a complete EV.
The one thing I appreciate about your videos Lee, is that I’ll never purchase an Electric Porsche TinCan ever.
Oh, if only I could afford a Taycan't.
Dream on......😂
@@DwaynePipes You probably could afford one, you'll be able to pick a used TinCan for 25k soon. (even though I could afford that, I'd never spend that much on a car) unless it was an 911 or a Caterham 7 when I know the residual value is higher than any EV.
I hope my dream does come true one day, and I'll get my Caterham 7
Your average primary school child would recognise that smart motorways are a stupid idea.
The M1 from Nottingham to Leeds is an absolute pain in the arse, There are more 50mph average speed parts to it than 70mph parts of it
You're so lucky to be able to afford a £120,000 car Lee 👍the vast majority of people couldn't afford the cheapest EV, id like to know how long would we have to drive before we actually started to save money ? good luck on your drive to Benidorm 🤞
Dont care what you say Lee i can see a Series 2 parked on your drive by the end of this year, mate. Let's see if I am right, if so you owe me a large single malt when you visit Cleethorpes and visa versa. As always stay safe.
🥃😉
Your milk float is the vehicular equivalent of Triggers broom......
I think Porsche are being kind to you because of your videos Lee. 😀
At least the ENGINE NOISE/SMOKE and EXHAUST CATYLIST were marked green
Lee, you really needed to trade in your POS-EV for the new extended range model if you ever expect to defeat Geoff Buys Clunkers. PS- That green car is fugly. Looking forward to the challenge videos 🏆
and Norway ferries !
Should definitely do an opposite challenge with Geoff in yours and you in an old Volvo. The stress Geoff will have with that 😂😂
You can get the ferry from either Santander or Bilbao to Plymouth or Portsmouth. Recommend going to Burgos and avoid the centre of Madrid .
Lee. it is time to turn your Taycan into a Tin Can. Go get your Porche 911 (no turbo)
"Maybe the ex-wife's diesel". hahahahaha 🙂 Love it, Lee!
I couldn't see a grill on that 2nd generation milk float.
"Give the man a 911!!!!"
I'm dying to see you drive an ICE 911....
There are a lot of pre registered Taycan's for sale, probably the fans wouldn't be covered then on these, worth bearing in mind if you are thinking about buying one.
In over 50 years of driving, you have had more recalls and replacements than me. Ill stick to ICE vehicles, cheers from Australia.
If I was Porsche UK. I'd just pay you off and ask that you never step foot in a Porsche showroom again. You've bought a posh battery on wheels, when you could have had a real Porsche with nearly 100yrs of engineering behind their petrol engine vehicles... Who'd do that to themselves!!?
Tyre wear certainly making things expensive, didn't one rear tyre get the fail tick ?
@@user-sf9lj6dy6w yes he likes chips/fries with that ,so he Fries the Tyres to match ,time to fit cheap tyres and smoke em up,should get some views and liked
Mister Macmaster! Lee good vlog pointing out YET AGAIN how expensive it is to own an EV, costs of replacements after the warranty has expired is staggering 😮😮 🎉
Maybe stick to fish and chips, your EV cred is all gone
Nashe proves how crap EVs are
Lol. 😂 nope gained loads more subscribers. Our survey says ❌

There are gullible people, everywhere!
😂
how you not barred from all porche premises
I have an electric bike paid 3 grand for it 2 years ago .tried my luck selling it at a reserve price on a auction site ,only reached £500 ,the same thing with electric cars ,good luck with the benidorm trip ,looking forward seeing the vids .
Not the same with electric cars, change my mind?
@@mikebreen2890he just did, his bike didn't sell
I wish they would do a visual inspection on my ICE car for the MOT , I could just send them a photo 😂
They won’t give you a 911, or even a Caymen/Boxster as a courtesy, probably because you’ll like it.
How about a road trip, you vs Geoff in EVs to the most prolific dogging spots in the UK?
Definitely more interesting.. as an Australian coming to UK soon I need to know more about dogging lol.
Beginning to sound like he’s got sponsored by Porsche!
Hello Lee, the range on the car going up is due to that fact it is a guess-o-meter. It gets the number based on last driving information. That is why after you start off after charging it goes up after a few mins driving as you are usually in a built up area. So it is how you drive the car and the previous journey data, is how it works out range. It is not that accurate and will change based on how the car is driven after every trip. If you floored it out of your drive it may go up before going down as the system will not react that quickly.
OUR FOURTH TRIP TOHETHER LEE IT IS YOUR TURN TO WIN THIS ONE.
How much?
Geoff could buy a car for that.
Love David and Lily.
I thought EVs are supposed to have less defects and repairs? Doesn’t appear so.
I have an MG5, it appears so to me.
@@mikebreen2890 there is always going to be anecdotal outliers. But Consumer Reports did a study with actual data in November 2023 that showed EVs have about 80% more defects than ICE vehicles. It’s available online. I can’t link to it here or YT will remove my comment.
@@mikebreen2890 consumer Reports study from November 2023 shows that EVs have 80% more defects than ICE cars. Anecdotal evidence is just that , anecdotal outlier data.
@@mikebreen2890 anecdotal evidence. Just read consumer reports November 2023 report on EV reliability. Enough said
my 26 year old toyota still has nearly all its original parts!
Lee, the parts aren’t replaced for free, what about your time going backwards and forwards to the main dealers
Got to say, not only am I not a fan of evs but not porche as well ….. why would anyone get a second hand one ?
Nope, they will find something wrong. Its the norm, they always find something else wrong.
Lee, no wonder why you’re sick to death for that car, i’ve just got a VW Amarok, all that ever needs is a oil change once a year it just keeps going
The good thing about this car is that you'll never run out of content
Costs a lot to maintain a Porsche? What a surprise.
2:43 I think you should name your charge point EVSE "Quentin". Why? Because when you were "Fully Charged", you could then say you're going to wind up Quentin.
What a poorly designed p.o.s absolutely worthless. A total rip off. I’m glad to hear the 2nd gen is better. I do love the channel though, very entertaining 👍🏻
You should do one of these contests with Jeff in a Morris Minor or something like that, allow him a toolbox, a can of oil and possibly a spare head gasket, that would sell some tickets 😆
The service cost, is one of those jokes nobody laughs at !
On yer way back from Benidorm. Take the AP7 all the way up towards Valencia, then at Segunt turn off and head towards Zaragoza. Then get onto the AP 68 and straight into Bilbao. Great IBIS Hotel at Barakaldo just outside Bilbao and if you can get into the G Max centre . Great tapas place up there huge selection and great prices. Ask them to put some into a cake box for you to eat on the ferry (presumably Brittany) and save yourselves a few bob. AND it aint Christening party left overs - maybe see you in Beni meduck!
Given how important the fans are to cooling the batteries and they know they are an issues then they should be doing a recall on them and replacing them all no matter if you brought it new or not. And 4k for fans.....Are they gold plated with gold wiring?
Kermit green 😂 I think they are taking the pish out you pal 👍
Hi Lee, great reporting on the EV situation by yourself & Geoff.
The New Porsche Taycan seems a better car & hopefully Porsche will give you a better deal to prove what they say !
Enjoy your adventure with Geoff Lee.
Love peace & Best wishes from us here 👍🧡
MG5, absolutely NO problems in three years and the last service was £100.
No way pedro ,imr not touching that Chinese crap
Ah, there's your problem.
You didn't do the sensible thing and buy an outrageously expensive EV from a company notorious for extortionately expensive parts and labour and servicing costs.
What were you thinking?
😂😂😂😂
No time for tyres Lee, you had time to have your hair highlighted.:)
You nailed that one, shame you didn't do the other one 😂
New models always have design/build issues that they sort out over the life of a vehicle. BMW do LCI models (Life Cycle Impulse) midway through a vehicle’s manufacturing run which have sorted all the early build issues. I’d never buy a brand new model for this reason, get a car 1/2 way through its run and it’ll be pretty much sorted aside from the major flaws that all cars have.
Surely a warranty from the factory is a warranty whether the car is bought new or not, sounds dodgy to me..
I will stick with my Vauxhall Zafira, 2013 model with 110000 miles on the clock, Running like a dream, went through it's MOT no problem, So hopefully looking forward to another 12 months trouble free.
Are you not bothered about the toxic plume of gasses coming out the back polluting the air?
So, it used to be when buying a used car, check timing belt change. EVs come along and tell us we're more reliable, less moving parts. But now it's check batteries and fans when buying a used EV.
Breathalyser tester? You haven't needed one of those in France for a couple of years, next Geoff will tint the headlights yellow. Headlight converters, GB sticker, spare bulbs, yellow vest, medkit, warning triangle, EU insurance is about all you need.
UK not GB.
Out of warranty service at Porsche is insane. I don't know the rules in the UK but here in the states, if we get out of warranty service, it's illegal for the dealer to void the warranty because you got it serviced elsewhere.
Im happy with my nice quiet, comfortable, economical 05 Focus.that over 3 years cost only 1200 including 3 MOT,s. Why burdon yourself to impress those neighbours you dislike by buying an expensive white elephant?
4:22. ‘You are beta testing them’.
YEP … except that they are making you pay through the nose for the honour of doing all of their testing for them.
I travel on 4 motorways to get to work and I counted between 7 and 10 ev cars on my journey to work however when the weather is bad rain and poor visibility I only see 3 maximum so range anxiety is a big factor if you own an E v
The best thing about EVs I can see is the fact I haven't got one.
Is there anything at all that is good about them because they just appear to have an astronomical cost to them with little benefit in return
Battery range on all EVs will deteriorate over 10 years
If the range is half what it was a new sale you will be doing well.
our toyota has a 10 year warranty 600,000 mile ,if less than 70% replaced free of charge. won't affect me as we get a new car every three years😜😜
I worked in car warranty for a few years and you have to read the small print
However it demonstrates my point on secondhand EV cars.
