Claudia Spent Her Whole Life In The Dark, She Can't Even See The Smallest Glimmer Of Light.

I think her mother leaving her the way she did really messed her up. If you read the Reflections story Lost Child, it shows how so much of her actions and feelings towards others stems from that original abandonment.
And the other story Rise Again, where she uses dark magic to bring back an ash ghost of a childhood pet, shows how the ease of dark magic giving her quick solutions to every problem has stunted her ability to learn how to properly grieve. The graphic novel Puzzle house reinforces this. First when kid Callum tries to tell Claudia that’s it’s okay to grieve and remember the people we’ve lost, and how that went completely over her head. And again when Kruha says that what truly broke Kpp’ar was finding that some puzzles just can’t be solved. The same is true for Claudia. Losing her mother was the first time she was faced with a problem that dark magic couldn’t fix. And with Viren’s whole “get a grip” philosophy, she wasn’t really able to talk or work out her feelings in a healthy way.

It's an interesting contrast from what's seen outside of magic, she's a peppy and exuberant young woman but every time she uses dark magic all she can focus on is the power. In Book 2 Chapter 2 when she's talking about making the pancakes she was almost excited about using dark magic, but didn't seem to notice how the mention of dark magic caused Callum and Ezran to push their plates away in disgust. It's also a disparity between herself and Terrestrius who both seem kind but her focus on dark magic almost pushes him away

I don’t think it’s too controversial to say that Clauidia is not that great at planning long term. Even if things went her way in season 5, and Aravos got out and made Viren’s resurrection permanent, what then? They’re all wanted criminals in both Xadia and the human kingdoms. Were they all just gonna live in the woods forever.
Before it sounds like I’m criticizing her, I’m not. I think Claudia is a compelling character in part because her choices are driven more by her emotions and what she wants rather than what she thinks is moral. She even willing to admit that she’s done terrible things, and doesn’t seem that conflicted about possibly killing Ezran and Callum in the season 5 finale. She just wants her dad back no matter what, and doesn’t think or care about the long term effects of her choices.

All Claudia Saw Was The Cause To Change Things And Not The Effect It Would Have On Her, She Just Didn't Care Other Than Trying To Keep Her Family Together No Matter How Dysfunctional Or Futile It Was, She's More Blind Than Sol Regem.

@@hannahburke7328 I think that’s why he chose to die alone in the woods at the end of season 5. He knew he couldn’t talk Clauida out of saving him. He hopes him dying can give her the chance to grieve and let him go so she can enjoy life and stop chasing the way he did. But by choosing to not say goodbye, she’s going to think he left her because he was too disappointed in her for failing to save him. Which will only make her even more vengeful than before.

I'd almost agree with her lack of long-term planning, during Book 2 she was more focused on convincing Ezran and Callum to return just to ensure her father had "access" to Azymondias, she was openly referred to by Aaravos as "an asset" while standing before Viren, and rather than actually plan for any attack she seemed to only be aware of the fact it was the same dragon tracking them with only the choices of "dark magic ingredients" to push forward

I'm not sure that soren did actually die, I think he just came very close it, and viren just barely managed to save him in time.

I think it's because anyone who uses Dark magic is someone Aaravos can possess, so Aaravos can now Possess Callum, break himself out and reclaim his cube in one move

I think Viren will become a good guy in the next series, as he’s excepted he can’t be he best. He’s come to terms with his mistakes and his weaknesses
