- New gas cans expensive. Clean and fix old ones are cheap and easy!
Mongo like these old gas can way better then the new style with the valve mechanism in the spout. For some reason the mechanism always break after a few years (pretty sure its a scam to keep you buying new gas can every few years) Mongo show you how to clean up this old one!
BE CAREFUL when working with old fuel containers ya never know what's inside it or how flammable it is.
Make sure no holes or cuts in container.
They sell nice repair kit for about 10 buck if you need new spout and vent, if need drill a new vent be sure to pick a drill bit slightly smaller then the vent (were it presses into container).
Cleaning outside is easy, wipe down with some sort of cleaning solution, rag brush whatever.
Clean inside bit more difficult cause you can't reach with brush or rag so need use something and shake can around to get everything out. This example use degreaser but can use other stuff like alcohol, mineral spirits etc.. just be sure it won't damage container.
once get clear liquid coming out then use soap and water to finish cleaning, shake really good. (be sure dispose of old gas/liquid safety and correctly)
Finally let dry - gotta make sure all the water droplets come out before filling with fuel. May take a few days to a few weeks depending on conditions. Then reassemble and use!

I have a can like this. The spout does not have a gasket for the spout/can connection to keep it from leaking. Where do I get a gasket?

Yes, the EZpour has adapters for a few different type. Mongo get 1 for a Chilton can at Ace Hardware. Can also check this link ezpourspout.com/product-category/adapters/
