  • Fix any gas can with these very nice Updated version of the @magicfour Magicfour vent caps. Easy and quick to install but nicer than the old version fuel vent.

The whole reason I’m here watching this video is to see how it’s done before drilling into my rotopax! Haha. Thanks for the how to! Good to know that if my hole isn’t drilled perfectly (which I can never seem to do) that this will still seal up nicely. Though I would appreciate it if you try out your rotopax before me!

I'm in the same boat, most of my holes are good but I always seem to have one thats a little iffy... I think there is enough interest for me to drill into my rotopax. I'll try to get it done this weekend.

When drilling into thin wall plastic I like to use a jobber (short) drill bit and small cutoff length of 1.5" board (2x2 or 2x4 works fine). You first drill a straight 90 degree hole in the wood so that just a 1/4" or so of the jobber bit sticks out. You can drill a small dimple exactly where you want the hole before using the wood. Then with the wood as a spacer drill your hole, because the wood won't let the bit grab and run up into the plastic you'll get a nice clean hole that won't need work afterwards. My 2 cent tip of the day.

Great tip! I shall try this on my next can. Assuming I can get some wood through the mouth lol. Sounds like this trick works for most very thin material.

I find it funny how the "EPA caps" meant to stop fuel leaks and vapor escape does everything opposite. Just like everything else from alphabet gunk

Would love to see this tested on a rotopax. I have both the 2 gallon water and 4 gallon fuel.

Locking EPA fuel spout that spills fuel everywhere... yeah, that's about par for the course with the EPA.

Do this to those Rotopax containers! Need to see this!

Hey.... nice try... but... you are suppose to use a STEP bit, not a regular drill bit. You will get a much cleaner, rounder hole with the step bit. Also, you can use a METAL tire valve stem that is easily available at most local tire shops as the vent. You will need to remove the spring valve insert and make sure to drill the correct diameter hole in the plastic can.

Maybe… but the kit comes with a drill bit. So I used what everyone else is going to get with the kit. Zero leaks, even while bouncing down forest roads clearing trails for the summer.

I wonder of that would work in my Rotopax cans? I already swapped over to the h20 spouts on them.

If we get enough interest, i'll sacrifice one of my Rotopax cans. The H20 spout works so much better right?

I hate the stupid spouts on the gas cans.
