      I'm very thankful for this comment but it's plenty of tourist propaganda about Iceland out there, and sometimes less reality ....so my decision was to make things simple... be my self and do my descriptions as I would do them driving around with friends from abroad...and I'm glad it's getting trough to you, and it's lots more to come :)

While scientists were wearing gasmasks all the time the people sitting on the same hill were just watching the eruption in the faul smelling smoke, without anything and with young kids and even some dogs. Yes idiots everywhere... I just stayed on that spot for a few minutes and moved off wind where it was warm and comfy, like a huge bonfire evening. • @AnnaMaria-zm8cv
      @AnnaMaria-zm8cv Před 3 lety +2

      You can only get very close to the crawling lava, and it is insane hot, you dont want to be very close to that for too long. The area directly around the fissures has been locked and SAR makes sure you wont go anywhere where lavabombs could drop, gas could collect or new fissures could open. There is a ridge nicely sitting along the whole rift giving everybody a perfect chance to sit and watch the whole area without disturbance in modest safety of at least 100 meters. They do a good job in making it possible to visit as close as it gets. No eruption can ever be 100% safe and thats what people got to keep in mind. This volcano however does its best so far to be very friendly, it sits in a perfect location offering a 360 degrees viewing area. The biggest danger still resides in getting there in the first place. I have seen people turn around because they were not up for the challenge, most give whatever they have to see it.

      Iceland is to cold for most crops. Besides, it will take decades for the lava to break down enough for that.

    • @AnnaMaria-zm8cv
      @AnnaMaria-zm8cv Před 3 lety +2

      It wont, because its ashfall that makes land fertile, not the lava. If you seen the regular Icelandic lavafield, you would know nothing grows there except moss and a few shrubs who manage to set root in a collection of sand blown in over time. As for crop growing, its bs that nothing can grow here, Iceland grows a lot outside like potatoes, cabbage, oats, barley, carrots... more than one would think but of course not to compare to other more southern countries. And the rest conveniently indoors in greenhouses. Lack of snails and other plant eating plagues makes it unnecessary to use pesticides. I love the Icelandic crops, the season may be short but the choice is quite impressive, yes products are smaller and less perfect looking than import, but tastier in my opinion.

    Ég var einmitt að fara að spurja þig hvar RUV vefmyndavélin var fyrst, svo komstu bara með svarið án þess að ég spurði!! Það hefði verið geggjað ef gosið byrjaði í Nátthaga. Fyrsta lagi mun auðveldara að komast að því, og svo hefðum við fengið video af fyrstu mínútum eldgossins.

      Nákvæmlega, það hefði verið svo einstakt að sjá það koma upp og þessi staðsetning núna er ekkert sérlega væn fyrir fulla myndavélatösku og en ég verð að láta mig hafa það. En RUV má eiga það skuldlaust að hafa unnið frábært verk með þessum myndvélum....
