I'm honestly still disappointed that the best horses are only available without Arthur. He loves horses and I don't understand why Rockstar is so dead set on denying us access to most of the Turkomans/Fox Trotters early on. I don't understand it.
You can get the dark bay turkoman free during the mission Horse Flesh for Dinner. I used it to get the dark bay turkoman Cerberus and he's been my go-to for Arthur ever since.
Or what I believe to probably be the best horse in game the legendary Dutch warmblood and he is beautiful and massive and so loyal kind and gentle and a Fearless Warrior in battle and being a legendary in only one and very easily overlooked as he can only be taken in a side mission in chapter 6 which I think stinks I want to know how do I get him to the online portion this the horse I want online Buhl is his name the one and only legendary Dutch warmblood.........
William Williams buell?
@@vwhitephotography how did you do that?
@@EO13 here is a video of how to do it: czcams.com/video/LgR65-_qxb0/video.html or czcams.com/video/kXicjXPe1eo/video.html
Turkomans are great, beast of a horse. The dark bay coat is just gorgeous, really shimmers in the right light.
They are my favorite horses!
It's the one i use in online. U mostly see the foxtrotter and Arabian but i always liked the Turkoman the most.
The onlyyy problem with the Turkoman in Red dead 2 is... they went extinct between the 1500s-1600s. Their blood is still continued in Thorobreds today. Also the Missouri Fox Trotter is historically inaccurate in this game too! But still love the horse mechanics (besides using two hands in western pleasure đ)! But thatâs besides the point!
@@missrenegadexoxo3507 the same with the Hungarian halfbred.

The turkoman with the silver coat color is the same horse that Hosea has!

For anyone who, like me, doesn't want to wait until the Epilogue to get the dark bay and isn't fond of the gold coat, you can get a Turkoman in the mission "Horseflesh for Dinner" in chapter three. Play the mission out like normal, but before approaching Clive and Clay, dismount and start feeding the dark bay horse. Feed him until you see the temporary horse icon appear on the map. Then finish the mission, and your new Turkoman should be at the horse fence. In case he isn't, though, make sure to pop a save before you start this mission, so you can reload if it doesn't work. Also make sure to stock up on horse provisions beforehand. This exploit still works after four years, so I doubt Rockstar will ever patch it.
feeding the horse peppermints will get you level 1 horse bonding very quickly. i gave the horse a carrot, then like 7 peppermints and that was enough
Yup. Works as charm. Moreover - when going to stables at some (about 100m to building) point leave your companions (they turn left, you do straight) sneak into the stable via back window, feed horse to get "temporary horse" icon then exit way you entered (i had to go through arabian's window cos turkamon is so big that it blocked my path). Then rejoin your mates and do quest as normal. After it go in icons direction untill it becomes white (horse is in range) whistle and wait for that horse to reach you. Then stable, saddle and its yours. For free.
Can we do this for more than one horse?
@@msb539 perhaps, i just did the mission and got the dark bay turkoman cuz thats the one i wanted, u can try it on the other horses aswell to see if it works
@@msb539 it definitely works on the other horses but I don't think you could get more than one of them per playthrough. So choose wisely
The Turkoman is great but I'll always be loyal to the Hungarian Halbred, they will stare down Grizzlies and barely flinch
Great horse, good choice.
@@BriH.-if2ns In story mode the Mustang is rock solid... Damn I love the tiger striped bay. The others are little lesser statwise, but in terms of courage they are top of the list.

The glitched hooves at the end though. I cant even xD
Omg that was great xDDD

My main horse was the gold turkoman, we went through a lot together i was so sad when he died :(
I know the ending got me fucked up ;(
The gold turkoman was my first high priced horse online until my 7 year old got on my account and sold it. I gave him a verbal lashing for about a week until I got enough money to rebuy that horse.
@@gooser1981 sold for discard price lol

Laughs in save scamming.
I remember when I was still riding my Kentucky Saddler that I got when I first started Online and they took the level requirement off the Black Arabian. I saved up 42 gold bars, but they put the level requirement back by the time I got enough good bars and I was Lvl. 58, and you need to be Lvl. 70 to be able to buy it. I felt so defeated.
Then I did some research and discovered the Turkoman and I used the gold bars I saved for the Black Arabian for a Dark Bay Turkoman I named, "Red October". Till this day, she is my main horse and is the most badass beast I have ever ridden and I will never trade her in.

Rockstar are trolls. Went from my favorite studio to my most hated during GTAVO.
It's too bad Turkomans don't exist in real life anymore :( Their current closest relative is called the Akhal-Teke which also originated from Central Asia.
Gerald Wong the akhal-teke is such a beautiful horse too! iâm amazed by their coats
Isnt the akhal teke an older breed? It was born more than 4000 years ago
Technically they went extinct before 1899 too, so the game is inaccurate in that regard.
There was no need to breed, they had a life span of a gold fish. War turned dirty, no need for flanking cav when steel horses took over the battlefield. I wont say they are extinct tho, we still breed them and many others do to. Your father told you about a mythical horse when you was just a child and re-named it? Because this is exacly what happend.

Your explanations in your various RDR2 horse guides are excellent. I've found them very useful for choosing the best breed for me (currently have a Turkoman, a Fox Trotter and an Arabian). :) Thanks
I had a gold turkoman that I called nugget,because ya know,gold nuggets.

Lmaoo i named mine nugget too the first time
I named mine Shimmer (a reference to Ellies horse in The Last Of Us 2)
Amazing video ;)
Well worth the wait for this video, thank you and great work as always.
Great video, really informative and unbiased review of these horse breeds. Turkoman and Missori Fox Trotters are definitely my faves to ride in the game.
Been waiting for this Overview! Awesome! Thank you!
Truly, you really know your shit when it comes to horses :) appreciate you sharing with us less informed.
Agreed!
Iâve been waiting for this video! Great review!! Iâm currently using the Gold and Silver Turkoman in online and I love them so much â„ïžâ„ïž I find they are really sturdy and not bothered by animals at all at full bonding, especially if you give them a reassuring pat.
this completely nails the turkoman's temperament. i was always a little puzzled because my turk was rock solid in gunfights and usually pretty good with predators, but sometimes panicked over them and threw me (especially gators). it's that unpredictability! i loved her, but she had her quirks. really wish i'd watched this before i finished that playthrough so i could've tried the trick. awesome videos, thanks!
I have four lol.. anyway I just wanted to drop some love on what a fantastic job you did with this video ! Great VO quality voice as well.
My main horse is the dark bay turkoman and I love him, I was actually able to get him in chapter 3 with Arthur and use him through the rest of the story. You can get him from the braithwaite house when the grays send you to rob them of there prize horses, before going into the stable you can sneak in and feed him to make him a temporary tame and once that completely the mission as usual, once youâre back in camp you can go to the marker and ride off with him from the twins you sold the horses too. Then just go to the stable and boom thereâs your horse. There are tutorials on CZcams that can explain it better then me haha
Gold Turkoman is (quite unexpectedly) my favorite horse. It can buck you sometimes, but if you calm it and keep moving, feed it, or brush it while on the run adjacent with predators, you can circle back around and shoot them. It is very brave in gun fights. I like it's multi-class status and the coat is unique. She's a very regal looking animal. I named mine Hera.
Very nice, I named my male golden Turkoman Timur, in honor of the founder of the Timurid dynasty who was both Turkic and mongolic, just like the Turkoman who is both race and war.
Thatâs really cool youâve focused on the horses! Great idea!!
You are very good in the detailed explanation. Love it... Subscribedđ
In the story (chapter 3) you steal 3 horses from the Braithwaites. 1 of them is a Turkoman. When you arrive at the location to sell them, don't approach the brothers, instead feed the Turkoman until bonding level 1. Complete the mission and then you'll be sent back to camp where its only a short distance away. Ride it into a stable and save game.
This still works in October 2022, I tried yesterday and it worked!

I donât like the gold version - itâs kinda a sickly color. Maybe thatâs just me but I donât like any gold colored horse in RDR2. I
Could you do a Turkoman vs Missouri Fox Trotter sometime? You do such a marvelous job reviewing horses so Iâd love to see a comparison.
too bad for u. one of the best horses, buell, is gold colored.
Agree, the gold just looks sickly. In my opinion that gold or those yellowish-beige colors on the horses are the worst, unflattering on the horses :)
Iâll see the Dark Bay in hell as Iâve lit him on fire after he left me for a snake
I named my Dark Bay Ares. Seems a fitting name, since Turkomans are war horses
Best RDR2 reviews on youtube
There's a way to get the dark bay turkoman while in Clemens point as Arthur. You can get it during the Horseflesh for Dinner mission
I've been waiting for this video đ My gold turkoman is basically my dark dapple grey Hungarian halfbred on steroids. About as courageous, I'd say slightly more skittish around predators, but it's like 10 times as fast lol. Can't bring myself to let go of my halfbred though, it's just way too pretty
Thank you, would love one on thoroughbred next đ
I love your rdr2 videos! And i would like to see other series of this game too

I had the golden turkoman and was my best horse I've ever ridden until she died at chapter 6. I named her Goldie Locks and I spoiled her since she's so good when I'm gunning down enemies. I'm still upset that my golden turkoman died in chapter 6. You'll be remembered Goldie Locks â„ïž
I just found your channel. Subscribed. Turkoman is awesome. I like the dark bay coat.
I got that one because I was pinching pennies back when the economy was rough. Now I'm pinching pennies in anticipation for the summmer update.
Finally waited for this video.thanks.please do a video on the missouri fox trotter
I like your videos. Iâm looking forward to your Breton and Criollo reviews.
As I was once the child who played every horse game imaginable, I, as an adult, would play this just for the horses. They're beautiful!!
The Turkomans are my all time standart horses since rdr1. The mix of war and race is allmost OP. Their height combined with their shining coat has the potential to turn the manliest man to a brony. The only thing I noticed, and I might be trippin here: the Turkoman knows that it is a beautiful horse. It is too proud, cocky and tends to have its own head, refusing to obey others. So if you call him, he is trotting in the parameter, taking his time, coming to you slowly and reluctantly.
I had this one spare horse in my current run, i normally keep spare/temporary horses for carrying extra carcasses n such, this time it was the white Arabian
That horse was so damn proud of itself, it literally refused to walk on the train tracks once UNLESS i rid it, she also always took the long way for everything
When she didnât come and i was already in a bad mood, i just left her and took a wild thoroughbred
Still have her and sheâs pretty good!
So happy for this video. Thanks so mouch
Turkoman is a fantastic horse; I like it just as much as the Missouri Fox Trotters, great vid!
Perfect mix between a War/Race Horse can never go wrong with a Turkoman
Omg yes! Love the Turkomans! How did you get the grey variation? Maybe do the Missouri Foxtrotters next?
I managed to get this one when the horse lasso exploit was still working :( Otherwise, I have had no luck getting one before the epilogue
Daneliecasts oh I see :( I remember I used to do that glitch awhile back right after the Saint Denis horse spawn glitch was patched. I think thereâs a new way to get those locked horses before the epilogue though. You have to uninstall your game or something, then reinstall the earliest development of the game, that means no online or patches. Therefore, you can get those horses again. But Iâve been told itâs not recommended if you donât want to lose your saves.
WindyKinz
Hover over the app on your console, delete the app, turn off the internet, and re-install the game. Your save files will still be there because they are stored separately but youâll be back in version 1.0 with all the glitches. If you wanna return to normal, just turn the internet back on and update.
Zayd Ahmad i did this to
Zayd Ahmad if u want to keep ur other online games turn off auto update and just go online when not playing rdr2

Yes I got my turkoman in capter 3 from the brathwright Manor, and I fell in love with in the first time I saw him at the stable well-muscled absolutely beautiful he's just a sweet stud muffin and smart and he's agile quick on his feet and he's a heavy hitter and the ability to change and slide and directions Jackrabbit fast I can literally run through a crowd of people pick my enemies out in the horse will send him up right on his chest and run him over without touching innocent bystanders freaking awesome and he's so smooth and he doesn't just step over them he runs up on top of them crushes them under what is a hot blood and I had to learn to let go of the reins in those times of high stress he'll get she in the best way to take out and run over as many enemies as possible while giving you or me the opportunity to engage the enemy from on top of my horse definitely a game-changer whereas my to Hungarian half breeds I love very much and I'll remain part of my Stables they have no problem running over the enemy they just sometimes run over the bystanders to which I don't mind but I try to leave them intact so the Hungarian half-breed that called into butchers and my new turkoman the surgeon I just got to get one more and my stable is complete with the two best breeds in game and I think I can vouch two of the smartest horses in game and they put a whole new line of fun in Red Dead Redemption 2 oh and everybody comments how beautiful that horse is crazy
I got my gold Turkoman for $740 at the Saint Denis stables. I changed her mane to a white/black mohawk and dyed her tail white/black as well. She's an amazing horse.

Love your videos, and love to hear your vĂdeos whille i play
Sorry for the english
All my love from brazilâĄ
Very useful video. Thanks Iâm subscribing for sure glad I found you. I believe it is possible (unless itâs been patched out) to get any horse from a small stable in San Danis two random horses spawn every time you load the game. Itâs mostly crappy horses but Iâve seen videos where fox trotters and terkomans spawn as well. But just like with lawmen, the RNG is not on your side with that. But if you do get one, itâs not a crime to take it you lose no honor either, if thatâs something you care about. Tons of videos on this method out there.
I have found itâs easy to have either a Dutch Warmblood soot or Turkoman in gold spawn next to the valentine stable on the right side closest to the wielder working. Both are very rare spawns. Iâve only seen Turkoman once, and seen the Dutch spawn at least three times there for me. Best to stay with the horse until the wielder leaves then tell the horse to flee, once itâs far enough itâs practically your horse for the taking without a bounty on your head for stealing. May the RNG of spawning be forever in your favor.
Not one of my favourite breeds, but I had one (a Silver called Mink) that genuinely seemed to think it was a bear. The bear's charging, I'm freaking out and running into rocks, and Mink's just standing there chilling with his bear bro.
During the mission with John (I think Chapter 3, or maybe 4) called "Horse Flesh For Dinner", one of the horses that you steal to take to the Horse Fence is a Dark Bay Turkoman.
If you dismount your actual horse somewhere in the open after stealing the horses but before arriving at the fence location, you can lock onto the Dark Bay Turkoman and calm it, feed it, brush it, etc. (watch the mini map and wait for the icon to appear). Finish the mission as normal, but instead of the horses disappearing, the one you bonded with will still be there. From here, you can swap saddles and ride off with it as your main horse. I learned this from a YT video and it's amazing.
Iâve recently tried out the dark bay for Arthur during the horse flesh for dinner mission. Gorgeous horse đ
I've owned every horse. Turkoman was always my favorite. They have more health and courage than any other horse.
isn't cladruber braver ?
Should be as brave as a Turkoman and any other War Horse
Mustangs are a lot braver but I see your point
My first playthrough I had the golden turkoman named Naz, had her almost the whole game, I could run over alligators with her, fight people, cougars, bears, you name it, she had amazing stats and full health and speed since we were bonded at 4,I got the sad cutscene at the end of chapter 6 and sobbed like a baby
I have a dark bay turkoman, fox trotter & tiger striped mustang, love them!
I have the top two horses, but i also have the most slept on horse as a third and that's the thoroughbred. Can we get a review on the thoroughbred horse?
Great horses. It was my favourite mount while playing story mode. Nevertheless, for earlier stages I would mount the Andalusian, perfect for my mounted combat play style.
Andalusians are amazing.
My current horse collection is the Dark Bay Turkoman, Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter, Perlino Andalusian and the White Arabian. Andalusian gets used for horse combat and the Turk and MFT get used for long distance travelling and free roam, Arabian for racing.
Just got the bronze turkoman from st.denis . Man what a beautiful horse !
Oh man I canât wait to get one!đ
This is my kinda horse
From my experience using all 3 color variants. I believe they may have different temperaments. The Silver Turkoman seems to be the jumpiest of the three. The gold being the bravest, but that's just from what I've seen testing them. Try it out yourself and see. They all have the same stats, but different personalities.
Im convinced all horses in this game have different personalities, Iâve heard other people say theyâve had a super brave Kentucky Saddler or Arabian, then others say their Arabian bucks them off at anything
This horse remains the strongest and best option for players in the Red Dead Online outside of story mode. The speed difference in comparison to other top breeds is negigible. Large advantage is courage and in health, and cannot be "one shotted" if primary cores are buffed with horse meal at minimum.
Bought the black Turkoman last night but had to call it a night before I got chance to fully bond with it so first I'm gonna do when I get back on, looking forward to taking this horse for a spin
My all time favorite horse is the Golden Turkoman. Even though I played less than with my Tennessee Walker Artemis (RIP), still my favorite horse, Timur the Golden Horse.
I've seen an npc spawn a silver turkoman beside mine parked one at Blackwater... I almost accidentally rode off with the wrong horse đ

You can get the Dark Bay Turkoman in late chapter 3, the mission âHorse Flesh For Dinnerâ, while handing the horses you stole over to the horse fence, you feed the Dark Bay until you get lvl 1 bonding, then itâs yours forever
Just make sure you have all the horse food you can buy cuz it takes a lot, and be patient when feeding, it will eventually happen if you have enough food
You can even do this with either of the Arabians too
A video that I saw that gave me this glorious exploit: czcams.com/video/yt-B_3SYf20/video.html
One thing i love about turkomans is that they are an all-terrain horse, i'm a player who's always using shortcuts and i gotta say, my turkoman buddy adapts really well to any terrain and running in middle of the map is so smooth (sometimes it falls but its my fault really)
I found a Dark Bay in a backyard on St Denis outskirts. Iâm early in Chapter 2. This backyard spawns 2 horses every couple days or so - free for the taking. Mostly Morgans and Saddlers and Shires - but occasionally a Mustang or Turkoman:)
Iâve found my Turkoman spooks more when thereâs a thunderstorm. Maybe thatâs when they lose their bravery with predators? That would be an interesting thing to test.
I think diff horse breeds are braver with some and not so brave with other predators for eg my turkoman always bucked me off in front of cougars like always (they spawned behind my horse) but it never bucked me off in front of gators or bears and wolves the opposite was with my Hungarian halfbreed which I thought was the bravest horse cuz cougars literally would not attack me at an instant and i could easily get close to grizzlies and it would not buck me off but once two wolves wete enough to make it buck me off same was with gators even if i got a little close it would buck me off
Missouri fox trotter next please they are my favorite horses in the game but the turkoman are definitely second
Nah
I was really excited to get the dapple Grey Missouri fox trotter but I find it spooks way too easily. I get bucked off all the time.
I named my horse Sleipnir (Named after Odin's 8 legged horse) he was a golden Turkoman as well. He was my greatest companion ever. He was brave and never back down to any predator and any gun fight. So during the scene where your horse dies I was saddened. So during the epilogue I pay tribute to Sleipnir and use a Turkoman as well but it was silver instead and named him Sleipnir II.
The Dark Bay is my current favourite horse, got one in Chapter 3 with the Braithwaite horse stealing mission.
For me standard handling is just fine, and the combination of good stats and temperament is near perfect.
I bought the golden Turkoman. I loved it so much until, fresh out of the stable, I just HAD to get off of my horse to pay a beggar.
It got ran over by a fecking train and d i e d .
Owww
How do you people keep running your horses over with trains ive played the game so much and im never dumb enough to let my horse get run down by a large train
You can actually get a Dark Bay Turkoman as early as Chapter 3 during the mission Horse Flesh for Dinner all you have to do is ride a head of John and Javier and jump in with the horse and feed it until you reach level one bonding
Trent Stevens can u explain this a little bit more ? didn't get these horse :(
@@annilunatix9138 same, the only horses that appeared for me during that mission was Thoroughbreds and Arabians
You trippin dog. In the mission, there are 3 horses you have to steal. A white Arabian, a black Arabian, and a dark bay turkoman. You have to calm down the white Arabian, Javier takes care of the black one and John calms down the Turk. After the gunfight, when the game prompts you to talk to the horse fence, DONT to that. Go up to whichever horse you want and feed it till it reaches bond level 1 (and feed it more if youâre inclined). When the mission is over, you should spawn back at camp, but the horse you chose will be further down the map, sitting next to the horse fence. You canât saddle it, so whistle and have it follow you to a stable so you can register it. Boom. Free rare horse.
@@burtmacklin1939 Oh okay, I will replay that mission and get the Turkoman. My bad, been a while since I first played the mission and didn't know about the Turk, thought it looked like a thoroughbred lol

3:43 anyone notice the broken animation on turkoman legs?
I wanted to get the new chestnut coat, but to be honest the dark bay looks much cooler imo, Im loving it so much
The Turkoman was my favorite horse in my first playthrough. I named mine Ranger and she served me well despite the fact that she nearly died to Murfrees on two separate occasions (due mainly to me panicking at an ambush and stupidly standing in the exact center of the enemies)
The only problem i have with them is that they can sometimes be very skittish
Make a video on Thoroughbreds
Thourobreds will die tripping over the smallest of rocks . Turko has great survival
@@PrimaryVector But nobody will catch u, and aren't too bad with predators.
- LioRobGar - thoroughbreds will trip and break their necks on a fucking pebble on the road
My favorite is the dark bay, I also love the silver one, I just wished the silver one had white on them also!
Finally! After my Missouri Fox Trotter died I rode to the nearby stable. The gold Turkoman caught my eye, I did think the coat wasnât very attractive but it was only good breed in the stable and I named him Corn. This horse went on to be the most amazing horse I could ever ask for, he was amazing around gunfire and I donât know if he was frozen or not but he blocked me during a mission. I sure do miss that handsome boah....
Someone tried to steal my turkoman Good ol The Golden threw him right off into the river
Does any one have bugs with the horse AI or knows if this is really even a bug: I've been maining the turkoman for a while now and for the most part, its temperament is above all. I'll tread into swarms of wolves, trample alligators or black bears, and it wont even hesitate. But then there's other times where I guess perhaps the AI bugs out and the horse is as skittish as any of the starter horses; bucking me off at even the distant sight of a predator. The cores are always full, and I pet and brush frequently so I doubt it could be any of those. Anyone else knows what's up with this issue?
Wortschmied the game is programmed to make horses more skittish if you ride them too much. Just make sure to give it a rest in the stable every once in a while and your good!
@@peachykeen4741, I had no clue that was a thing-
PebsTheGecko I didnât at first either, but I really like that feature! Just makes it that much more realistic
I guess it depends on your playing style.
I never conduct shootouts on horseback unless it's part of a mission.
I generally run for cover, dismount & then engage, if you stay on your horse you just become a bullet magnet & risk your horse getting killed which won't respawn.
For that reason, I prefer the Arabian, even for gunfights.
It has such great acceleration that you can just create distance, find cover & return fire.
I got the gold Turkoman for Arthur during the story & called her Lieutenant, she was hands down the best all-round horse Iâd used throughout the story, she never caused me any issues when hunting or fighting, even when sheâd get a little scared when we were hunting, it was almost always in a manner I could use to my advantage (e.g. being able to quickly identify whatever predator was around before it was too late). Also their speed, stamina & health is just *chefs kiss*. But when I got the dark bay Turkoman in the epilogue who I ended up naming War Admiral, he definitely didnât have the same levels of courage as Lieutenant even at bonding level 4. He is still good for hunting with but has definitely thrown me off more than Lieutenant (I think she threw me maybe twice) ever did despite the fact that I havenât even had him for as long.
I'm sad the Turkoman breed is extinct irl.. But at least there is always it's relatives: The Thoroughbred and Akhal-Teke. Both beautiful!
turkomans were called akhal-teke (along with actual akhal-teke horses, which was a separate strain) throughout the russian empire after turkmenistan became a part of it, so it's safe to say it's not really extinct, just the name's gone.
@@JohnDoe-um8td Wow. That I did not know! I always heard and read that Turkomans were a different breed and were Ancestors of Akhal-teke. Thank you for the information.. My wrong! The more you know.
I also read a lot of theories about turks, but reading about how people in the Russian Empire never used the word 'turkoman' pretty much sealed it for me. It's always akhaltekinets/Đ°Ń Đ°Đ»ŃĐ”ĐșĐžĐœĐ”Ń, even in old books.
Still, lots of other theories out there, so don't take my word for it.
