  • Watch the first drive video review of the new Honda BR-V 2016. Watch full video to know about performance, mileage and features of the new SUV from Honda. For detailed review go to CarDekho.com.
    Honda has launched their all new BRV at a price of Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With this, Honda is all set to enter the highly-competitive mid-size SUV space with its contender for the segment - the Honda BR-V. Based on the same platform that gave us the Brio hatchback, Amaze sedan and Mobilio MPV, the BR-V will directly target segment stalwarts like the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. Though it has similarities with the Mobilio in profile, the BR-V gets better interiors along with the stance of an SUV that will find favour with a large audience. We’ve already driven the BR-V and, with our first drive review, we give you the low-down on what we think of it.
    The BR-V comes with Honda’s tried and tested duo of 1.5L petrol and diesel engines. The rev-happy i-VTEC petrol engine offers superior refinement levels and is smooth to operate. It produces 119PS of power and 145Nm of torque and comes mated with a new 6-speed manual gearbox and comes with an optional CVT auto-box as well.
    The i-DTEC diesel motor produces 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque and comes mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. NVH levels are better than they are on the Amaze, though some engine noise does filter into the cabin and the motor faces turbo-lag below 1,500 rpm. It isn’t as nice to use as the petrol, but will be the motor of choice for the fuel-efficiency hungry buyer.
    We think the BR-V is a good proposition for someone who wants a 7-seater in their garage, backed by the reliability of the Honda brand. It is an inoffensive package that many will like, but with rivals like the Hyundai Creta showing no signs of slowing down, Honda has to offer a more feature-loaded package to get buyers talking. Do you think the BR-V has what it takes to make it big in this immensely competitive segment? Let us know through the comments.
    Honda BRV starts at 8.75 lakhs for the petrol and 9.90 lakhs for the diesel variant.
    *All prices ex-showroom Delhi.

    I was looking for a good looking 7 seater with ample ground clearance and fuel economy above 20 kmpl. BRV ticked all my boxes. So, I booked a diesel SMT and gonna take delivery today :-)
    It's not about what others think, it's about what we need. To me it looks like a VFM option. Since I already have a Brio, I again went for a Honda because of good low-cost service and reliability.

    Considering the price range, 7 seats, 210 mm GC, Space in the boot with all seats up, fuel efficient engine, projector headlights, standard Airbags, ABS (On Diesel), sharp handling, stability on highway - I would say BRV is a value for money offerings from honda. Though it doesn't look like proper SUV, It can do all what Creta, Duster (4x2), Terrano, Ecosport, Brezza are able to do.
    HONDA on the other hand, should not have been so conservative on the features to keep the price within 13L. It should go all out, add 1L more to it add full touch screen navigation+apple play+android auto+voice command, parking cam+sensors, Arm rest, cornering lamp.
    Auto wiper+headlights are useless and show off on paper to my opinion. Those two things are too easy and simple to operate and driver is the best person to understand when to switch them on.

    thats really a very honest review.. i can say u are the only one channel till now, who boldly expressed your dissapointment over the equipment list. good to see that.i think honda never had given a good interiors and gadgets to indian market. plasticky,basic,awkard dash board for all vehicles... top end gets 2din dash,BT,AUX!!!! come on honda this is 2016,wake up.even kwid has touch screen. for a MPV of that size dont you think it requires reverse camera or atleast parking sensors???
    how can you compete with hyundai???

    I feel I made the right decision, May be I get a bit less power but at the end of the day I hardly go beyond 100km/hr.

  • @vishnumohannair8506
    @vishnumohannair8506 Před 8 lety +3

    I see a lot of reviewers griping about the absence of auto wipers, auto headlamps etc in the BRV. I have always thought them to be un-necessary for the most part. A reversing camera could have been welcome, but that is a quite affordable after market fitting. And I would think Honda has been brilliant in picking / dropping the non necessary items to keep the the launch price down. As it is, we get a Automatic 7 seater 5 Star Ancap SUV for an on road price cheaper than the Duster Automatic with best in class fuel efficiency. You can install a very good after market touch screen system for approximately 15-20,000 so why is that such a big problem.

      Vishnumohan Nair I agree. the reviewer was nit picking on honda for missing out auto headlamps and auto wipers ..saying it was 2016!!! he mentioned this as if
      Honda missed the engine itself !!!what was he thinking..? these as well as daytime running lamp gimmick are totally useless in india... can't drivers figure out when to switch on lamps and wipers.... these feature are more for the lazy brats... as far as parking sensors are concerned... these are pretty easy to install aftermarket...

    Awesome review and genuine, but you forgot to talk about safety my friend as if life is of no value in India.I am requesting all reviewer to make safety a integral part of reviews and start mentioning about missing ESP in Indian cars. It is a MPV not a SUV, as Kwid is a hatchback not a SUV. Honda should not fool around. Its competition is Ertiga, Lodgy and Innova to some extend but not Duster, S cross and Creta. Honda should cut down boot and make it look like a SUV and definitely it will look like one with that awesome imposing front. It's a high time Honda should get big engines in Indian market at least make them available as a variant with higher price.

    Overall, a good review. The foundations of a good car are the engine, the transmission, the brakes, safety , driving dynamics and fuel efficiency. Accessories are just a convenience. I would gladly take a car with a great engine and transmission over a car with a mediocre engine and transmission with a automatic this and a auto dimming that. At the end of the day it all boils down to the pricing as you pointed out. If it undercuts the competition by a considerable amount, accessories might not matter very much. As gear heads, we should in fact welcome cars which are honest, barebones and cheap.

    Is it Indian BR-V? , Well your BR-V i think is better bevaus of : Leather Seat , Soft Panel on the door trim , Climate control and auto ac , 2nd row armrest, the steering wheel look modern (in indonesia the steering wheel looks like brio's and mobilio's , whic is terible) , and the diesel engine....
    But indonesian BRV have better audio (7 inch touchscreen with Nanoe , Parking sensors and camera and tailgate Spoiler...

      +Vishal Gupta Yes you can compare BR-V with Ertiga as it is a crossover. BR-V and Ertiga have got a noticeable difference in power and torque. BR-V is more powerful than the Ertiga. The only front where BR-V lack in is comfort features. It does not have an infotainment system and Navigation too. BR-V also has better space as compared to Ertiga. We would suggest you to take a test drive and then you will be able to decide in a better way. Click here to have a look at the comparison bit.ly/1TCGnqr

    with its cutting lines and a honda flair this seems too good a vehicle ,but let down by a slightly mobilio like side profile.....overall impressions remains good and has a great ground clearance..as for the interiors this is a class apart the touch screen navigation in the top trim would have been a welcome change and should have been standard but no need to complain or crib you can get a better after market fitment car audio with navigation..and comes cheap these days along with a rear parking camera....over all a very good design and a welcome change ..a good presence with just about the right ingredient too put back the fight to it's rivals which mobilio had lost ground ...only thing people have to let go of the fact that there was a car like mobilio around which was lacking somewhere.......

    My more than three month's Driving Experience is very bad. Lot of Quality Issues:
    Model Name BRV -S Diesel
    VIN: MAKDG277EG4000100
    Engine No: N15A11701126
    Odometer till 19th Sept 2016: 5061 KM
    Purchased BRV on 21st May 2016 and lodge complain on 26th May 2016 about noise from co-driver side door and pillar side, Back side Tail gate door noise, back seat noise and Back side tail gate rear Mirror rubber strip sucks automatically. Visited Paras Honda more than 20 times from last three months but till date not satisfied and complains are not rectified from any one in Honda service center.
    (1)Noise heard from co-driver side area while driving (2) Lock noise heard from left co- driver and center row right door (3) Noise heard from Tool Kit area while driving (4) Rear Boot Door level difference from car body, not aligned, so unequal gap is visible on both left & right side and have noise (5) Steering Colom cover is not aligned (6) Noise heard as if rear number plate is loose (7) Steering Wheel Noisy above 120 KM speed.(7) if you service your car from Paras Honda your cars mileage drop immediately and it show in odometer more than 30 KMPL why no answer.(8) Best part is that, they use double tape to reduce noise in car. After 04 - 05 days again noise increased. Company don’t have permanent solution for noise reduction done and I have done under body rust treatment from same Honda service center.
    Paras Honda people only know how to sell accessories and create bills for extra things. They don’t know how to fix problems.
    Twice complain on Honda call center but not satisfied.
    Hope complain will reach to higher authorities.

    Very true, an honest and accurate review!
    I was expecting much more from Honda, but they just keep disappointing Indians.
    The steering wheel is straight from the previous generation of Jazz and City.
    I was actually expecting equipment levels to be on par with the 4th Gen Honda City like it is in international markets.
    Man, Honda should buy some sense if they want to survive in the Indian market.
    The only car they have in their stable and the one that is selling is the Honda City. The City as I like to call it is the "Savior". But that too is overpriced and expects a tad too much premium in terms of pricing.
    Good luck Honda in the battle with the Koreans. ;)

    • @cardekho
      @cardekho  Před 5 lety

      +Parshant Chauhan Honda BR-V is bit on a higher side to maintain as compare to Mahindra Marazzo. Also, Mahindra's service center are easily available as compare to Honda due to which Mahindra cars have good after sale service in comparison to Honda cars. Moreover, if you need a 7 or 8 seater vehicle that is comfortable, spacious and easy to drive, then Marazzo will be a no-brainer choice here.

    • @cardekho
      @cardekho  Před 8 lety +1

      +Aaa Buu The BRV is quite comfortable in the first and second row but feels a bit congested in the third row. It is indeed comfortable to drive and the maintenance is expected to be the same as Innova. Talking about the durability, if maintained properly Honda cars are durable and can be driven to long distances.
